Ok, kind of wierd, but my baby has the stinkiest butt ever. Not just after he poops.. I mean, he needs a bath every other day at least because he already has grown man "swamp ass." my first son did not have this. I think it's kind of hilarious...anyone else have babies with swamp butt?
My baby does! He took a HUGE poop... like fill the diaper huge. I cleaned him up and still smelled butt. I just gave him a bath a few days ago so he's clean. Got the poop off of everywhere and even wiped him down with another wipe just to be safe. Still smell it!
@TiffRox81@LDSJM123 Yes! I make a point to not hover when he's doing stuff, even though I know there's a better way to do it, because I want him to learn, but some stuff drives me crazy. Like every time he puts our son in a sleeper he leaves all the crotch snaps open because it's "too complicated". In his defense he's getting better at not just handing him back because "He's hungry" and he does all the baths too, but there's still times where I've gently told him what works and he ignores it, like getting up and walking him during his witching hour instead of just staying on the couch and patting his back. Not everything can be cured by putting them on the boob!
@jennyleigh16@TiffRox81@LDSJM123 I'm glad it's not just our house. I always feel like I'm nagging or being an overbearing mom when I say something. My DH has his mother come and "help" but they do things that make her cranky or upset. Eventually they just hand her back and I have to fix it. Or my MIL's solution is to make her a bottle any time she fusses. By the end of the two days I end up tossing so much unused milk. I just want him to figure it out too.
I think everyone who isn't us (the moms) must have the same mentality, because this always happens to me too! Anytime he gets really fussy with someone else, they hand him to me to feed and insist he's hungry. Usually he's not, but I sound like the bad guy when I try to inform them that he doesn't need to eat. DH is getting better at trying to soothe him with other things first though, which I appreciate.

@winnie1122 Yes! I told my MIL that she wasn't hungry twice last weekend and she told me that night that I needed to stop starving her.... Um, no she isn't starving. That's why she doesn't drink half the bottles you make her. Needless to say, I turned down her help this weekend or any weekend in the future.
What are you guys using for diaper rash? I started desitin earlier this week but her bum is still red. Maybe I haven't given it enough time to work but I'm curious what others have tried that's worked.

I really like Burts Bee's all purpose ointment. It cleared up his rash quickly.

Air. I put a water proof pad down and let her air out as long and as often as possible.
Deisitin, A&D, burts bees, and coconut oil are all in my arsenal. But air seriously is some kind of magic.
Do any of you ladies shower with your lo instead of giving them a bath? I like baths for a bedtime routine, but DS needs one this morning and I was thinking I'd just jump in the shower to wash him off then hand him off to DH while I showered myself. it seems like a good idea, but I have never heard of anyone doing it so maybe I'm missing something?
@arhodes6 Our prenatal class instructor swore by it so I think it's fairly common. I just know what a squirmy slippery little dude our guy is when he's wet and I would be terrified of dropping him. If you're comfortable I'd say go for it!

We do the showers instead of baths. She absolutely hates baths and one night she had spit up all over me and herself so I just took her in the shower with me. She loves it! I make sure to just move slowly while I have her and we have a seat so I use that a lot and prop her on my knees. I feel like it's a great way to introduce her to having water on her face too.

Thanks ladies! We did a shower this morning and it was great. He loved it!! Smiled and squeeled the whole time. It was adorable. I was nervous about dropping him so I just cradled him in my arm and held on tight. He did great!
This might be a dumb question, but how do you wash yourself or the baby in the shower without dropping the baby?? That seems like it would be impossible....though very convenient if I could do it!

@arhodes6 We do showers from time to time. She loves it!! We do exactly that - one of is with her by the other is immediately available to take her and dress her back up. Worth a shot!!
Omg, @jennyleigh16 you just made me laugh out loud. Our poor girl never gets crotch snaps done with DH. Hell sometimes the whole bottom half is open!! I know it takes a little bit of concentration but it isn't rocket science, LOL!!!

What if your son can shoot his pee 5 feet across the room? Haha I need one of those pee pee tepees.
@TiffRox81 Right?! This is a man who can spends hours building tiny model cars but can't seem to figure out what to do when the snaps line up funny. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Hahahah the visual! I have 2 girls so rocket propelled pee isn't something I'm used to.

LO will shower with DH a lot. He loves it to bond. What we do is i wash LO when they are ready from outside the shower just reaching in and then I'll take her while DH finishes his shower regularly
We shower with DD also. I actually bring in her baby bathtub and we put her in that if either DH or myself are not right there to take her. I do have a large shower though, so that might make a difference. We also shower with our 22 month old son he LOVES them and it makes life SO much easier!!!! He gets way more showers than baths and that's just fine with me
I want to start showering with LO, but we like our water super hot, so going to wait a while yet. I've heard they have slings/wraps that are made for water and might get one of those since DH travels and it's just DS often. The baby tub in the shower is a good idea though.
Got the all clear for crib transition today. He's getting so big!
@Singingmama10 the bathtub in the shower is a great idea!! I think I'll try that next time and if it works then I can shower with DS during the day when DH is at work. 2 birds, 1 stone! Brilliant
E slept through the night the last 2 nights in a row. I don't know if this is a new development or just a fluke, but I haven't felt this good since before I was pregnant! Once we get into leap 3 I feel like it'll all be screwed up though.
I miss feeling like an active member on here I still read most days but by the time I have a minute to myself to actually post something, I'm usually too tired and just ready for bed.
Anyone's little ones teething yet? I feel like it's soo early but a few people have commented about how they can see C's 2 little bottom center teeth right underneath his gums. Over the last week and a half or so, he wants to suck on EVERYTHING and he's started drooling uncontrollably. We had a really long night of fussing last night and part of me is wondering if he's going to cut his first tooth before much longer! I'm not ready for this!
@jjtruffles apparently my SIL started getting teeth at 4 months old and had a full set by the time she was like 10 months old. E has been so slobbery lately so MIL keeps asking me if I've checked her gums. We haven't seen any yet, but I'm nervous she might get them early too!

I don't think it's something you get used to. Maybe it's just me but I jump every time he does it ha!

I jump too haha. Then he looks at me like "what are you doing??" That, and when he farts while I'm changing him
Glad to know my girl isn't the only one getting super slobbery already. I've had teeth in the back of my mind, knowing they can get drooly long before teeth show, but I'm in total denial. My lady bits are finally going back to normal and now I have to think about my baby with teeth. Nope. I refuse.
Asked my pedi about teething. LOs 10 weeks and has been uber drooly, fussy, and will naw on my fingers. She said she can't see teeth, but might be the beginning process. I'm not ready for teeth! :
We're in the drooly club too, and he sucks on his hands/thumb a lot now. He's coming on 12 weeks, I can see what looks like teeth under the gums on top, but no idea if that's what I'm actually seeing or how far we are from teething. I hope we have at least 2 more months!

Maybe babies are just droolly at this age? My LO is super droolly and is always chewing on his hands and anything else he can get his mouth on. I might just be in denial too, but I'm hoping this is just a phase in development, not teething
C turned 11 weeks on Monday. As a FTM, I honestly have no idea if it's actually the early stages of teething or if it's just a developmental thing. Glad to hear I'm not alone though! Here's to hoping our babies are just a drooly bunch and it's a few more months before any of us are dealing with teeth without a doubt!
@ftm53 I feel the same way. I don't want DD to get overtired so I put her down for naps after bring awake for an hour to 90 minutes. She eats every 2.5 hours so there really isn't much "other" time.
