@christac1010 I know a bunch of guys who are the 3rd and go by Tripp or Chip... Another option is Fran/Franny, though those are more common as nicknames for Francis.
@ThePax89 I LOVE the name Olive! Our last name is a noun though so we had to veto it.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Maybe we'll find out we're having a girl and the whole debate will be postponed (although I have a strong feeling the baby is a boy).
@krb22 I actually never knew Chip was common for a third. I just assumed it was short for Charles (the only Chip I know). Interesting.
For some reason, I like Olive too @thepax89 I say for some reason because it's not my typical style, but I know an Olive and I think it suits her very well.
@christac1010 haha DH and I have both sorta put the 3rd talk on hold until we know boy or girl. My MIL is on his side haha and my mom doesn't say much so I don't get mad at her haha.
@ThePax89 I LOVE the name Ollie! One of my longests friends named her daughter Olive so it's out for us but I love it!
@LoneStar21416 I can see Chip as a nickname for Charles too. I always assumed it was just a kind of variation of Tripp, but I looked it up and apparently it's commonly used as a nickname for any junior, 3rd, 4th, etc, and just stems from "chip off the old block"
For a girl, I like my grandma's name Grace Helen, or maybe switch it up and name her Grace Charlotte or Charlotte Grace. For a boy I love the name Philip Carter (first name after my Grandpa), or Carter Philip. I also like Jackson Avery, Miles, Elliott, Alexander, Calvin, Oliver, and so many other boys names. I can't really think of many girls names, though. Guess I am pretty much sold on naming her after my MawMaw My husband and I can hardly agree on names. All of his sisters have used his family names, just wondering why we can't name our children after my family's names. He likes Miles, Elliott, and Oliver, though. I just would hate the knickname Ollie.
I have a Charlotte Grace. We call her Charlie

We had such a hard time naming our first... We finally decided after much prodding from the nurses to finish up the birth certificate paperwork! For this one our top names are Annabelle and Kennedy for a girl, Jack and Boone for a boy. Edward will the the mn for the boy regardless of what we choose.

Names are the worst. My mother wants names that flow between English and Spanish as her generation immigrated from Mexico. For a boy I wanted Jude but she flipped out as in Spanish that's Judas and Eleanor doesn't translate. I'm sticking to my girl name but it's back to the drawing board for a boy name.
@sherrera92 my parents are both from South America and when I was pregnant with DS I always thought how would my parents pronounce this, they both have pretty thick accents still even though they've been here 20+ years. In the end we picked Cole because it's what DH and I liked best and they didn't care that it didn't translate in spanish
Oh yay ladies! I was thinking Olive is a little out there, but I'm glad you guys seem to be receiving it well!!!! And I'm glad some of you know positive Olive figures.
@LeahNicole We're having the third debate here too. DH's name is Frank (not very many nicknames either) and everyone calls him Frankie. His dad is Frank. Up until we got pregnant, he never wanted a third. He always rants about how new people should only call him Frank. Now that the baby is real, he suddenly wants a third. I'm really resistant and stubborn to the idea though. His family is on my side, but my family is on his side. Go figure. Plus how do we distinguish a third? I've taken to calling the baby Frank Jr Jr as a joke (we're huge Friends fans).
I was totally thinking Frank Jr. Jr. the whole time I was reading your post!
Well, it looks like all my name choices are off the board. My four year old has declared that the baby will be named "Shoebowl" and no other name will do. No one steal it!
We know we're having a girl and were going to name her Mackenzie. But hubby suggested McKenna. I love it. Mckenna Lori (spelt with a lowercase and capital k on purpose. I'm undecided and wanted to see it in print both ways. loll opinions?
@sagoon, that is so cute! My DS wants the baby to be named Super Brennan! Lol
@laujam31, one of my good friends named their daughter McKenna 5 years ago and last year we had two students named McKenna. I think it's a pretty name that looks cute in various fonts! (Yes, I'm a font nerd!)
I know of one baby McKenna and it's spelled with the capital K. I think it's an Irish or maybe Scottish surname, and I believe the surname would be spelled with the capital K.
@laujam31 There's a girl in DDs daycare that spells it Makenna. I had never heard the name so I have no idea if that's one of those obnoxious spelling things but it could be an option.
Heeb918 I love the name Kennedy for a girl. I have a friend who named her daughter that but spells it Kennedi to switch it up a little!
My husband and I are still set on Ellis for a girl's name (my maiden name) but not for a boy. My family keeps trying to convince me to do Ellis either way but I like it so much for a girl that I don't want to "waste" it on a boy, if that makes sense. For boys I really love Grayson, Parker, Wynn (a play on my grandfather Winston), Graham, and Harrison. DH is not sold on any but he's warming up to them.
We find out the the sex on Saturday so at least that will help narrow down the list!!
Ah! @BriannaE129129 my H wants Ellis (for a boy or a girl but now we know we're having girls) but I've been hesitant because I thought I preferred it on a boy.... I'm not so sure now? Great name though, it's on our short list!
ETA he wants to name one of them Ellis after a totally pretentious shithead writer, which might be my biggest hesitation lol! The man is a genius but I HATE listening to his stupid voice judge the whole world (he has a podcast too)
If ours is a boy it is going to be Elliot James. If it's a girl we were going to do Molly Ann but both my daughters are E names so I was looking at Eloise (pronounced el-oh-ees) Ann. Eloise is another way of using Louise and both my daughters' middle names are Louise so they could share that. Anyway that is what I'm considering.

That's pretty much my feel. The family can deal. I'll be more certain once I know what it is!
@KRB22 little late, but I can guarantee that Gaelic names will be mispronounced/misspelled as I have one. Americans can't handle all those vowels. On the first day of school the teachers would always call my last name since they didn't know how to pronounce my first name and I grew up in a very diverse area. I've never met another person in the US with my name which is cool and I do get a lot if of compliments once I tell people how to pronounce it.
My mom added an extra letter to my name thinking it would be easier for Americans to say. I kind of wish she hadn't because when I'd go to Ireland people thought my mom was getting "creative."
Despite all that, I think your choices are beautiful. I have a cousin Niamh in the US and everyone loves her name.
My name is an anglicized version of an Irish name that was extremely uncommon here before the 80s, and was uber popular by the end of the decade, with a multitude of spelling variations. So I always have to spell my name, and it was mispronounced probably 50% of the time (even though it is mostly phonetic).
The spelling part doesn't bother me so much, because this can be an issue with seemingly straightforward names these days. But I worry that a name like Niamh will be particularly tough from a pronunciation standpoint. I also feel it loses something with an anglicized spelling, and wonder if maybe it's better to go all out and just be authentic.
Hmm. I think this is something we'll be debating on and off for the next few months.
Ok I reconsidered Molly. I found out it derives from Mary. That's my Ex's girlfriend's name. She is nothing but disrespectful to my daughters. So that name is OFF THE TABLE. I found Edie and it really goes with Ann as the middle name. That's a family middle name. So now I'm locked into Elliot James and Edie Ann. I'm in love with them both.
Does anyone have any middle name ideas for Isaac and Luna? I think we are pretty set on those but we have no middle names that we've agreed on so far.
@moonlady What about Luna Beth? It kind of rolls off the tongue. For Isaac the only thing that comes to mind is James. I like the single syllable after a two syllable thing. I think that might be due to the fact that half my family from the south.
Right now we are thinking Poppy June or Poppy Lou for a girl (I cried when I found out I was pregnant and the first thing I read was it was the size of a poppy seed) and George Howard (Howard is both my dad and my husband's middle name) however DH LOVES the name Guy (from That Thing You Do) but I'm not sure about that one!
We had leftover girl names when deciding for DD2 that apply this go around. My husband's choice was overruled last time so I think I need to give him this pick, in which case he loves Sienna. I don't love it but I think it will grow on me.
Re: Names?
(Lol at Frank Jr Jr)

We have a girl name picked out but not a boy. For a girl we are going to name her Chloe Grace
Thanks! That was it actually not an option for me lol I know it's weird But I don't like the "Mack"enna. @scgirl6113
Thanks I think I do too!
