I asked my doctor about my hands hurting and feeling stiff mostly at night when I'm sleeping or when I wake up, and he said the carpel tunnel-like feeling is normal from all of the extra water in our bodies. He also unfortunately said it gets worse the first few weeks postpartum but then goes away. Not fun!!
Add me to the sore joints - they also feel super loose, like gumby. If I'm not careful getting out of the car the last few days I've dislocated my knee a couple times! It's a pre-existing condition from a skiing accident, that still happens to me rarely after the surgery to correct it - not usually multiple times in a day, and never bounces right back like "Oh whoops!"
Having major pressure and pain in my lady parts today. Running around the ER isnt helping. I have an appointment this afternoon. I'm hoping in starting to dilate .. I know it doesn't really mean anything as far as impending labor but I feel like it might give me a little hope!
@allishally13 I had a feeling it was like carpel tunnel. I tried last night to try sleeping without the tensor bandages and no deal, hurt this morning. I'll just continue sleeping like a wrapped up mummy ahaha at least it doesn't hurt then in the morning.
I've been saying lately that when I get up in the morning, I end up so tired after I shower I'm ready to go back to bed. Sometimes I mean that literally and sometimes more figuratively. But today, I seriously got so tired during my shower that I had to stop washing my hair and like kneel down on one knee in the shower just to catch my breath and gather the energy to finish what I needed to do. I just have no energy at all today! It's like I can't be upright for longer than a minute. I was worried I might pass out or something. I was thinking it was just because I hadn't eaten anything yet or had time to drink much water. But even now at 11:00am I still feel like I can barely keep myself upright and awake. Anyone else feeling this kind of acute fatigue?
@Snaps816 amen! The past few days i have had extreme fatigue, i haven't even been able to put up gifts from our shower over the weekend. Work is excruciating. Hope this passes soon for both of us!
So feet swollen and fighting to get out of bed to make it to work now... saving each day at work is a day with the baby.. anyone getting bored waiting for our baby arrival? What's helping you keep your mind sane?
@midwestbaby I imagine I have to be swollen down there too. I can't see and haven't bothered looking in a mirror, but I definitely feel like I'm walking around with baby's head ready to just pop on out. Dr. said his head is really low, so that explains it I think.
Yesterday was my first internal check at 36w3d, and I was 1.5cm dilated, 50% effaced, soft, and station -2. I was surprised since I haven't been feeling pressure, but holy moly, that has changed today. For the past couple hours I've been having uncomfortable but not painful cervical spasms (best word I can think of for them), as if baby boy is opening me up! I've been betting on going late again since I was dilated for weeks with DD and induced after 41wks, but now I'm thinking this lil guy could be early... Mentally not prepared for that!
I'm gonna jump on the swollen down there band wagon. On the subject of achy joints, I don't know why but this morning when I started walking around and especially on the stairs, my ankles were super sore. It was the weirdest thing.
I honestly feel like a sledgehammer has played whack-a-mole with my pubic bone. And yet DH still wonders why I dont want to life my legs to put on or take off my pants.
@alyssajrob22 I know the feeling. It's the worst! Also, I have had heart burn non stop for the last 3 days. Doesn't matter what I eat. And it feels like all food is just sitting like a rock. Plus the insomnia. .. oh my goodness, this baby needs to get here quick!
I was installing my car seat today (again since I got a seat protector to put under it), and it suddenly felt like I completely pulled my left inner thigh muscle and groin and it hurt SO BAD! It lasted a minute or two then went away. Sometimes when this baby stretches, I can feel all of my joints loose and muscles pulling.
I also had about 1.5 hrs of contractions 20 minutes apart (some were painful but some were just a tight feeling), and they suddenly stopped. I'm really hoping that means when they check tomorrow I'm more dilated than 1.5cm, since we're hoping baby arrives this weekend so we don't have to go through an induction later.
37 week appointment and not a bit dilated, despite weeks of swelling down there and feeling so heavy. Baby boy is head down, huge, and head is still pretty far up. Boooooooo.
@entropicallyfavored I rarely wear pants and its only for work. Only reason Im wearing pants is because my maxi skirts or dresses are dirty. Im not allowed to wear leggings, but Ive slowly been integrating them into my wardrobe instead. Thank god my boss hasnt said anything.
So I've been admitted to the hospital for signs of pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure, headache, blurry vision, etc.) They are keeping me here for 24 hours to compare test results and will determine tomorrow if we need to deliver or not....I need this little guy to keep cooking for a few more weeks! (36w4d)
@carolinwThat's scary, keep us updated on how you're feeling!
Coincidently, I just popped in to post about pre-e since I had to do extra labs yesterday and a 24 hour urine test today to monitor me. I don't have severe symptoms at all, just higher BP and swollen feet.
@WinnieLou82 I am dealing with this. I've been on bed rest since right before 33 weeks for Pre-E. Developed it very quickly over the weekend. I am 36w1d today and going to see both my OB for my 36 week appointment and MFM for an US this morning. C-Section planner for 7/27 if I can make it without Pre-E getting worse.
I fear they will take him today though. My BP has been consistently 140s/100s for the last 2-3 days and I am getting more and more swollen in my hands and face. Enough that if one more person tells me I have a "Pre-eclamptic face" or swollen face I am going to punch them. (hormones huh!! Lol)
let us know how your labs turn out!
@carolinw. Good Luck and praying your labs are okay as well.
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.
I've been mild-moderately "period cramping" all morning. Like to the point where my legs are cramping. Ugh! Maybe this is a sign of more dilation? Last week at my 35 wk appt I was a 1/2 cm. Yesterday they didn't check my cervix They did measure my belly and said I'm right at 36 wks. Who knows.
Just noticed last night when I rubbed my tummy with oil touching the left lower side of my bump caused a bit of a sharp pain? It doesnt hurt at all otherwise but if I press on the spot it's a bit of a sharp sting?
Anyone know what that is? Is that just baby sitting in a specific spot pressing on my organs? haha
@carolinw sorry to hear what you are going through. Please keep us posted!
I have been dealing with cramping and BH for weeks now, but it is slowly getting worse each week. Newest symptoms is exhaustion along with spurts of energy, Nauseua w/ some vomiting and stomach pain for the past week.TMI but I haven't had much of an appetite for the last 2 weeks because it seems everything just goes straight through me. I go back to my Dr tomorrow for another NST and hoping baby girl corporates so they don't send me to L&D again for further monitoring.
@WinnieLou82 and @msdidonato - I was just diagnosed with preeclampsia on Tuesday at 34+5 days. Mine also just appeared over last weekend. I had a headache and then Saturday I had crazy flashing lights in my left eye. I called my doctor who told me to check my BP and it was in the 160/90s (previously had been in the 120/60s), so they had me come in Monday and admitted me for 24 hours to do my urine test and monitor my BP. I'm now on bedrest and they are going to try and keep me until 37 weeks.
I had preeclampsia with my first but it didn't pop up until I was 38 weeks, so it was an immediate induction. It makes me a little nervous to have it so soon with this one. I have a BPP/NST today to check on her and make sure everything is okay with her in there.
Hang in there those with pre-e and/or symptoms! I never officially had it with my first but was being monitored. I did make it to 39w2d before going into labor on my own, had an indiction scheduled for 39w5d bc of the BP concerns. And the swelling... Ugh.
Newest symptom for me is just feeling "off". Not sure how else to describe it. Just feel blah - slightly nauseous, no appetite, a little bit foggy... That combined with just feeling hot and having feet swelling, kinda just want to be sitting on my couch at home!
So I'm a FTM here. I've been having contractions for the past half hour, stomach is really tight but not really painful. My back hurts when I get them. Should I start timing them? I'm not sure what true contractions feel like. LO is head down, "sunny side up" facing so I've been told I probably will have back labor?? Not sure how true that it!
@jkershaw2013 I would start timing them. They don't have to be painful to be real contractions. But try drinking some water and laying down. If they keep coming regularly call your ob.
Here's a question- I'm not having any pain. But the past two days I've noticed my stomach hardening/tightening a lot. Is this a contraction? Any moms who've delivered before have this and been in labor? I'm just wondering if I should be monitoring this or not. With DD I had an irritable uterus and had painful Braxton hicks all of the time. So this is new to me. I've hardly had any painful contractions and the one time I did I was in false labor.
@jacmkelley yes those are probably contractions. When I called the hospital to tell them I thought I was in labor with both kids, my contractions were not very painful. I just felt them. And that's what I'm having now. They don't have to be painful to be real, so keep an eye on them!
Random nausea, itching, and insomnia. The nausea feels weird though, my head will start to feel a little dizzy or swimmy(?) if that's the better word, then a wave of nausea will come and then it all goes away. Ugh, 19 days kid.

Yes this is exactly what I've been feeling but felt silly for mentioning it due to no pain! The only real "pain" I am having is intense pressure down there. Feels like something is just going to drop out every time I get up lol

@amandazap I've had that drop out feeling since 31 weeks when LO flipped down. Turns out my cervix was thinned out quite a bit and then I had some PTL that dilated me some. So maybe the contractions are causing your cervix to do the same. I still feel like this when I go to the bathroom but so far it hasn't gotten any worse. I also tried to explain that it felt like a tampon does when it's not sitting right in there. Also experiencing a lot of pressure and painless contractions, just our bodies preparing I guess.
Expecting baby #1 August 2016
Already have three furbabies- Blake, Sydney, and Chester
It's like I hit 36 weeks and got hit by a bus. Crampy, exhausted, back pain, uncomfortable, and now when baby moves there is so little room that it physically hurts when (s)he pushes and stretches from the very top of my uterus to practically punching me in the cervix. I know you're all experiencing the same things, but jeeze as a FTM I didn't know how drastically it could all change!
So I had a ton of BH contractions all yesterday morning long while at work. Nothing painful, just more annoying because it kept squeezing my bladder.
When I woke up this morning I lost a good chunk of my mucous plug. It wasn't bloody, just clear/yellow. No contractions today at all. In fact I feel great. I will only be 36 weeks tomorrow and I'm kinda nervous because I work all weekend and know I will be on my feet a lot.
I'm chugging water like a maniac though this morning and making sure to just sit/rest before I start my shift. I would really like this baby to stay put for another few weeks because I'm not ready and I want her to be healthy.
I'm hoping work is slow today so that I can sit and also write our baby shower thank you cards.

Rest up! When I was pregnant with DD I had tons of BH and hospital told me I had an irritable uterus so I had them constantly. But she was born at 36 weeks, perfect healthy baby and 7 almost 8 lbs. It's possible to have a healthy baby that early. And she's a girl! Which is good if you're going early. I'll be thinking of you! Hopefully it's another week or two before she gets here!
