We don't have any dogs, but my parents do have 3 shihtzu-poodles. They haven't really been interested in our baby toys unless they have a squeaker in them. One does like to destroy pacis left laying around though.
I am soooo behind! This week was the busiest week of the year at work and I have barely had a chance to jump on here. I'm never gonna catch up on everything, but here are some random things (probably not all inspired by this thread): @RedMar Happy Belated Birthday! Doctor Who is amazing, but I fully embrace how cheesy it can be. @lovelylauren86 Your dessert pics always make me soooo hungry!
I must look more pregnant because I have had 4+ people ask me about my pregnancy this week instead of just eyeing me speculatively. I Tom Hiddleston. Just finished the Night Manager and it was so good! My dumb self decided to potty train DD this weekend since it's 3 full days off work and daycare. I am living in fear of what will happen.
Happiness is finding a stashed and forgotten chocolate bar in your purse.... My day has been made.

My husband is at the employee-store for his company (LLBean has a satisfaction guarantee so you can return items at any time.. even 40 year old slippers). Returned items that have been used/worn get sold to employees for a super discount. I currently LOVE my Thule jogging stroller. He just found a DOUBLE Thule jogger (Retails for $520 and up) with a bit of dirt on it (I think I can spot clean) and a tear in the foam of the handle (Might be able to repair) for $100!!!!! I wasn't going to get a double jogger, but for that price I'm GETTING IT!!!! BOO YEAHHHHHHH
Didn't feel worth of the deals/steals thread since no one else is getting this deal but ME ME ME!
Except, I'm also dropping Fred off at doggy daycare for the weekend. We're traveling to visit family and their homes are not-Fred friendly - they have dog aggressive dogs themselves and I'm not going to put my baby into that situation. He loves doggy daycare so I know he'll be happy and well cared for, and will probably deal with the separation much better than I will, but I'm also like:
Today's random is brought to you by self-evaluations. I hate them. I seriously took for granted all those years where I didn't have to evaluate myself and instead just sat back and let someone else evaluate me. The good ole' days....
@UnwritteN12 I must confess, every time you've posted something this month I catch myself thinking that those are your kids in that picture HAHA I am fully aware that you have twins and those are definitely not your kids, but it tricks me every time for a second
My mom's friends are throwing me a shower in my hometown and asked me for a guest list. It is about 2.5 hrs from where I am now, and I don't know if I should send invites to my local friends or not. I also don't know if they are planning a shower here for me. Anyone have advice on including them in the out-of-town shower or asking about plans for one without sounding gift-grabby? I would like to celebrate with them, whichever city, but I'm not sure how to go about bringing it up!
For the BTDT moms, my BIL is getting married at the end of November about 10 hours away from where I live. Did anyone do mid- to long-distance travel with a 1-2 month old? If so, was car or plane easier/less stressful? How were you, physically and mentally, for a trip like that? I'll still need to figure out what to do with LO, since it's a no-kids ceremony and reception, but I'll cross that bridge once I figure out if even being in town is an option.
P.S., If either of these should be new threads, just let me know!
@jabreen we flew with DS1 at 6 weeks. While I find newborns incredibly easy to travel with, I'm not sure I would recommend flying with such a young baby during flu season without immunizations. If you are planning to breastfeed, then just know you'll have to make a lot of stops driving. SIL had a super slow eater, and a 4hr car trip took us about 7 b/c baby wanted to stop every 60-90min and took almost 45min to eat.
All of our furniture came home today! It came so fast. I wasn't expecting it until July. Thank god I'm almost done painting. I just have to touch up the stenciling FYI stencils on a textured wall bleed like a stuck pig.
Breakfast lovers, I found a really awesome sugar free, carb controlled waffle mix today. It's made by Maple Grove Farms and for 2 servings has only 16 grams of carb, 0 sugar, 22 grams protein and 6 grams fiber. And it's super yummy
@Jabreen I'd bring up your shower to your local friends in a casual way. Maybe let them know your getting addresses for the shower and let them know it's 2.5 hours away. That should open up the conversation if someone is planning on/wants to throw you a 2nd shower.
Eta: I think your second question could be a seperate thread, if you want. I'm sure there are moms who have traveled with littles that don't frequent this thread. I never traveled far with mine until she was 7 months, so I'm not much help with one quite as young as your will be.
@jabreen- I also will say that traveling with a newborn by car takes about double the time. I would also be hesitant to put the babe on a plane at such a young age. We did a road trip (supposed to be 3 hrs) with LO and he was 4 weeks old. I was in my close friend's wedding. We arrived 6 hours later and late to rehearsal. It's easier to travel with a newborn vs a toddler, but it is still time consuming!!
I'm debating on going to my doctors walk in clinic. At my appointment on Monday she told me to start using my inhaler daily for my shortness of breath and I have been, but it's starting to get worse instead of better.
@Jabreen with Deklyn I flew at 6 weeks for a funeral. She did great but mentally and physically I was not ready. With Cameron I flew at 2 months and the minute we got back from the trip we had to go to the ER because of a high fever of 101.8 (which is very high for a newborn). Doctors couldn't tell me what caused the infection but I think it was traveling and being around family at a young age. I vowed after that if I had another baby I wouldn't travel until later.
My DH is a groomsman in his bffs wedding (his best man at our wedding) in December and it's in California. We would fly to San Diego and then take a 2.5-3 hour car ride to the destination. DH is begging me to go but I will have a 2.5 month old and two toddlers. I KNOW for a fact I won't be ready to fly at that time.
Newborns, for me at least, have been much easier flying than a toddler as @RedMar said but it is a lot of work regardless of its car/plane. I think whatever you decide to do just remember it will most likely turn out a lot better then you expect in your head
@ammcc12 i hope it gets better soon. I never hesitate to take myself or kids in on birthing years since we pay our whole deductible. Pretty cheap price for peace of mind, even if it ends up being nothing.
I just had the most satisfying snack I've had in weeks. Swiss cheese, crackers and perfectly ripe Rainier cherries.
Unfortunately, my stomach is apparently the size of a grape and eating even an entire snack right now makes me sick, so now I'm queasy and even thinking about the delicious food I ate is making me feel even worse.
I miss being able to eat an actual meal, let alone a full snack. And being able to breathe. I miss that, too.

If I eat more than a 1/3cup of anything I feel sick! I feel your pain lady!
