@HeyBooHey I'm having a ranch aversion. And aversions to pretty much all salad dressings that aren't sweet/sour. I'm okay with asian/oriental, catalina/french, and red wine vinaigrette, and that's it. Italian and ranch are out right now (and everything else). I had pasta salad two weeks ago, and it left a horrible taste in my mouth it hurts me to even think about that dressing, and it was one of my favorites before. The media told me to expect weird cravings, not food aversions! T_T
@MissAmeliaPondI've been feeling the same way and can generally tolerate simple carbs like bread, plain rice, apples, and crackers. Also pita bread with hummus, those babybel cheeses, and fairly plain grilled chicken have been ok for protein.
When I'm feeling slightly better (usually after eating more protein) I'll attempt some steamed veggies or something less plain, with mixed results.
@shevaCC those are good suggestions! I just worry that now that the placenta and umbilical cord have formed, I'm not eating the right things to help baby grow properly. I'm still taking all my vitamins, but I'm not getting a lot of variety in my diet... I feel so guilty.

I know I'm echo'ing what others have said in different posts, but... When I saw my OB on Monday she asked how my m/s was and I answered that I'm eating what sounds good and holding it all down to the best of my ability. She reminded me that in your first trimester you're getting most of what you need from your prenatal vitamin and anything else is just icing on the cake. She said not to stress about enough greens etc. too much and that my body will adapt and lighten up on me soon.
I can't wait until salads sound good again!

Why does no one ever talk about how unappealing vegetables would be? I assumed I would have a meat aversion or not be able to smell something really potent like tuna. But fresh fruits and veggies? So weird! I would assume my body would be craving it!
Fresh oranges are my new thing...I normally hate oranges (but I like juice) but now I can't get enough! I was also desperate for a strawberry shake the other day and totally drank a McDonalds shake on my way to my doctors appointment...I did NOT want to get on the scale after that lol.
Food seems to sound good while I'm cooking it, or in theory, but when it comes to actually eating it, I have trouble actually eating full servings of anything. I eat what I can and make up for it with snacks and stuff since those tend to go down easier - full meals and I are not friends.
Grapes on grapes (red, not green). Pineapple. French fries. Cereal. I am craving a caesar salad SO badly but am not sure if I'm allowed to eat it or not.

Oops. Totally had Caesar at a steakhouse last week. Was that bad?
On the scale of bad how does it rank? Water<--------------->Booze?

Coffee! I haven't had a cup in two months and just had one. I wasn't planning on having any but in hopes to "get things moving" I thought I'd be ok. I made it at home, nothing special, but seriously the best thing I have tasted months!
One of the first things that tipped me off about being pregnant was this odd, strong craving for Keebler Club Crackers and guava!
I've also been craving avocado (ew!), chips and mild salsa (also not something I'm typically a fan of) along with icy cold watermelon and oranges!
For weeks four and five of my pregnancy all I could eat was bland chicken noodle soup and plain, Lays chips....Oddly I keep eating things I don't typically like!
@MrsDepo it was probably fine. Prepared Caesar you would get at the store is fine. You only need to avoid house made Caesar made with raw eggs. I think unless you are fine dining the dressing is probably out of a bottle at most restaurants. Definitely no table side prep Caesar.
Desperately trying not to vomit but I've been eating lots of organic fresh fruits and vegetables. Basically surviving entirely off of them. Got green bell peppers, orange bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, (cucumbers for some reason aren't working out for me) and then fruits I've got cantelope, strawberries, blueberries, granny smith apples.
I'm mostly munching on those things hourly at the moment. Anytime I switch stuff up it's not working too well.
Sweet potato fries! I used to absolutely HATE sweet potato fries but now it's like my crack and I NEED it whenever I go to work. Thank God for working in the food industry! FREE SWEET POTATO FRIES!!!!!!! XD
I have started a nice little grocery list off of this thread. I'm hungry all of the time and my cravings have not stayed consistent at all. Every few days my "must have" is something different. So maybe I should stay off of this thread as my "must haves" of the day just increased exponentially.
All I want to eat is potatoes. French fries, mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries and chips. It's weird for me because I was a strict low carber before I got pregnant but it's the only thing that doesn't make me want to vomit right now.

That's how I was with my daughter. Any form of potato, I needed it.

And everything has to be dipped into bbq sauce or ranch! I gross myself out, but I can't control it. There are vitamins in potatoes, right??? So it's fine..

There has to be at least one useful vitamin in them. And now I want fries with ranch dressing. Or chili fries. I want fries.
I have not had a bagel with cream cheese in years and usually hate the combo. But just now I went to the store and could not leave without an everything bagel and cream cheese. It was amazing.
@HeyBooHey that was totally me today. I stopped eating them because I would get epic heartburn from such a carby meal with little to no protein. I ate one this morning and cursing myself expecting epic indigestion. I had zero. I swear he/she loves some carbs.
I saw a picture of cheesecake yesterday and just HAD to have it. So I made one, from scratch, and then when it was set I couldn't get myself to even try a bite of it! Hoping tonight I can dive in! I also made a bunch of tuna pea salad, and veggie chili with tons of veggies to try to get more of those in my diet. I have also been making smoothies that past few mornings and I am hoping to keep that as a part of my routine. A good way to start my morning with some fresh fruits!

I am totally regretting it now. That did not sit well with me. My tongue is swollen. But it was so good.
I'm currently having to stop myself from scooping sour cream into my mouth. I made a bit of beans to make myself feel like less of a weirdo because I'm eating straight sour cream and Juanitas chips. It's delicious!
