@missnc77@dsmith211 I agree that they've done a much better job more recently of keeping things in context-- it's one of the reasons why I didn't just write off the show entirely.
@vinerie You're making me so sad! GOT is our favorite show!
If you can get past the nudity and violence, it really does have a great story line (or multiple story lines I guess). It's the only show I've been able to watch where I genuinely have no flipping clue what is going to happen or who is going to die. That keeps me interested! Seriously, DH and I are obsessed.
I binge watched the first 3 seasons on maternity leave with DD and waiting for a new episode every week is absolute torture!
As upset as I was yesterday to hear I couldn't go back to work this work, I'm actually happy today because it's snowing and my feet only fit in flip flops right now
DH just left for a three day business trip in Vegas. Wish me luck this week, working full time and chasing a toddler! Off to a good start, we were up early to tell him goodbye, so I even put her hair in pigtails (with Sesame street as a distraction) before dropping her at daycare and then got Starbucks and made it to work on time! Win! EDD is a month from today, so send me the "no labor this week" vibes while he's gone, but after DD was overdue I think I'm in the clear...
@jessicab0627 Yeah I don't know what my issue is. It's not the nudity or violence that is my issue with it (although the storyline where the one guy was torturing the other who eventually became his slave...I can't remember his name) was a bit much! I just can't get into the storylines. I can't keep everything straight and I can't relate to anything. I am trying to get Dh to watch House of Cards with me so we can watch Season 4 together (i've seen all three seasons already) but he can't get into that one at all. He says it's not real. As if GoT is, lol!
I truly do feel like I am in a very small minority here and I wish I liked it because I feel like I am missing out on this cultural phenomenon!
I watched the entire series of Breaking Bad twice and would watch it a third time, that's how much I loved it. That is my all-time favorite show, I think.
We had a breakfast potluck at work today. I just clogged my baby's arteries. It was everything a pregnant girl could ever ask for? I can't stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to weigh in on GoT. I LOVE it. I read all the books before ever watching the show. My brother got me season 1 on DVD for Christmas a couple of years back. Other than this current season, DH and I were caught up on the show. We won't be watching this season for a long while though, last season we were using my friend's HBO account information but they stopped paying for HBO so we are SOL.
I can't remember who said she doesn't like Harry Potter... but it's nice to know I'm not alone! I've seen maybe half of the movies and I'm just not a huge fan!

@AdorkablePixie You can't compare the movies with the books when it comes to Harry Potter. If you enjoy reading, I would seriously suggest you give it a try at least.

This. I love the movies as well, but NOTHING compares to the books. I guess it helps though that I also started reading them pretty much when they first came out and I was still pretty young. I'm really hoping LO ends up liking them though. I definitely plan on eventually introducing them into story time.
@JoMunson I did this last night and SO thought it was because I was finally in the mood. I had to explain that it's because I still had energy after work and my first cervical check is Thursday. According to SO I did a good job, but I can't see anything lol oh well. I tried
I'm totally counting my Target trip as my workout today. DS fell asleep on the way there (2hrs earlier than usual) and we had necessities to get, so I carried him over my bump and pushed the cart with the other hand to get the shopping done. He's 32lbs now and I'm due next week. By the end of the trip my arms and back felt like they were going to fall off.
@yogahh I kind of feel like GOT is the fantasy version of Bravo TV. It's really one big soap opera only with swords and the occasional herd of zombies.
Speaking of zombies, Fear the Walking Dead isn't even a fraction as good as The Walking Dead. I'm annoyed by everyone on that show except for Daniel and Strand. Everyone else would be dead by now if it were Georgia.
I'd just like to take a moment to thank my coworker who brought donuts, cinnamon rolls, danishes, and coffee cake in to the office today. I nearly cried tears of joy when I walked into the kitchen.
Does anyone else bawl like a baby every time they hear Piece By Piece by Kelly Clarkson? Maybe it is how my childhood went, but I cry every time! And I can't turn it off! lol
Oh my goodness, DH & I were blubbering messes during her performance on American Idol!! Also product of divorce here, so it hits home marrying a good man!
DH has had this horrible, lingering cough for over 2 weeks, and he has refused to go to the doctor. He is convinced that he contracted whooping cough from the TDAP vaccine that he didn't want but I insisted he get (so, of course, this is all my fault!). I finally told him last night that he wasn't going to be allowed around LO if he was still sick by the time he's born. That was enough to get him to agree to go to the doctor this afternoon. I don't know why he's so damn stubborn about seeking medical care! He will let himself get so sick that he's nearly on his deathbed before he will go to the doctor! I just don't get it.
You guys, my sweet cousin had her first baby this weekend. He's in the NICU because he swallowed meconium and went without oxygen for the first 5 minutes of his life. I keep bursting into tears thinking about what she and her husband are going through...first time parents and they haven't even been able to hold their baby yet.

@LovingLife! Oh that's so sad!! T&ps to all of them and that baby makes a quick recovery. I'm sure it must be so hard on them.

Oh, that must be so hard for them... Best wishes for their sweet little one.
I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich for lunch. Their description did NOT state mayo. Well it came with mayo. I don't eat mayo (gross). I also ordered sea salt chips. They sent salt and vinegar. I almost burst into tears when I saw what they sent. I never thought I would cry over food.... But I was a trooper and ate it. Baby likes mayo it seems.

T&P for your cousin. I can't imagine how hard that is.
Some businesses really need to rethink using the acronym of their company name as their logo. Every time we buy from Interstate Battery Supply, I giggle at IBS. Because, immature...
Thank you! We've been praying non-stop for them. It just feels so hard to be pregnant with a healthy babe and have given birth to two babies with zero complications while theirs is hooked up to all of those monitors.
My sister had my niece in November, so this will be her first Mother's Day. Since a lot of the family focus around that time will be on my impending delivery, I don't want her big milestone to be completely overshadowed by that. I know my BIL will try to make it special for her, but I really want to get her something memorable, too. I got her a citrine (one of the November birthstones) necklace for Christmas, so I would like to get her a keepsake other than jewelry. I've been brainstorming, but I can't come up with anything? You ladies are creative. Any suggestions?
I'm not necessarily a fantasy fan per se, but I do love medieval everything, hence my love for shows like GoT. The nudity doesn't bother me so much, especially in the latter seasons, nor (most of) the violence...but some of the show's storylines have an ability to make me really mad afterward, so I have to be careful when I watch it because then my mood is ruined for awhile. Am avoiding it for now because I'm pretty sure it'll send me straight into labor!
@adorkablepixie The books are fantastic, and because they are so big and detailed, there's just so much that you don't get to see in the films. The series starts off kind of slow with the first one, but things really start to pick up with the second and third.

I love giving a potted plant when I dont know what to give! That way, they can either plant it if they garden or keep it in the pot... and they dont die like flowers do. FTD has some nice options
Thanks @yogahh I hadn't thought about it, but I love the idea of a potted plant! My dad gave my mom some sort of flowering bush the day I was born, and by the time I was a few years old, it was taller than me. My mom had it for years until my sister decided to "share" her glass of orange juice with it.
I was gonna start a fun thread, but am too lazy...is anyone making a labor playlist? Now that Lemonade is on Itunes, I think I will just listen to that on repeat. But I saw this and it made me think; what funny songs would you add?
I loathe going to the grocery store right now. DH helps with the big grocery trip over the weekend but sometimes I need things for dinner and decide to just go. DD has to bring 45 toys in the car each time and then I have to convince her that they can't go into the store. Then we have to get the big ass shopping cart with the kid car on the front because...well...kid car on the front. I have only been wearing dresses lately because pants are evil but it's been so windy here lately that I have to make sure to hold down my dress while I carry DD into the store and let's face it, that feels like a workout right now.
Basically, the only thing that motivates me to go is that Sonic is on the way back and I promise myself a large Coke as a reward.
@TXmamatobe I hate, hate, going to the grocery stores for those random trips. And I've hated it forever. Can't imagine with a baby/toddler in the near future!

@TXmamatobe I had to laugh because this is my reality right now, too.
