Re: January Randoms

  • what do they make you do for those 3 hrs @PugsandKisses ? Do you literally just sit and wait???....
With DD I had to sit in the lab waiting room. They blood draw before you drink it and then every hour after for three hours.
I guess I'll be playing video games for three hours...

  • @blissylissy86 I have very small veins on my arms.. aka a nurses worst nightmare. Every time I get blood drawn they poke me at least 3 times trying to fish for blood. I am used to it by now but it happens.... all. the. time.

One time a doctor tried to get it out of the back of my hand and bruised the whole thing. I couldn't even bend my hand...

Depends on where you go too I guess. I have to get glucose tests done every year and one of the labs is near a strip mall... I leave and go shopping and then come back a few mins before my next blood draw is due...
  • Can I just say that I finished binge watching all of Parenthood on Netflix last weekend and I am having serious withdrawals? It's like my brain thought they were really my family and I just want to call Julia and make sure she is appreciating how hot Joel is.... So... Yep. That's out in the world now.
  • @chanfa you only do the three hour if you fail the first one hour test. Did that happen?

I don't get cell service in the lab area. Thank God for wifi.

Just had to share my exciting story of today!

I noticed a girl driving erratically behind me today in my rear view mirror. We were on a bridge and she was trying to pass a mini school bus and hit the front of it! Then her ass sped up and drove away!!!! I got her license plate number, type of car and description and called 911 and told them everything I saw. I pulled over to see if the bus driver was ok (I'm a nurse) and there were 3 preschoolers on the bus all crying! Everyone was fine just scared!

Anywho I'm watching the news tonight and what pops up?! That chicks face- arrested! And now she's getting charged with a lot more than just a traffic ticket! Mwahahaha! So glad I was there or she would have gotten away with it!

That is awesome! So cool of you! Karma is a b!!!! Haha

  • Oh also on the news saw a recall on certain britax car seats for those with kiddos already! Says the carrying handle can fall off when holding! Yikes!
  • Thought everyone would like to know

  • Starting to feel paranoid waiting for the NT scan but having decided to tell everyone at 12/13 weeks. We have a big group of friends we want to share the news with this weekend so I picked up an extra HPT just to be sure even though I'm still nauseous/hungry all the time. Anyone relate? Our last appt. was at 8.5 weeks.

The first couple of days/week I went through so many HPT it wasn't even funny.
  • @whataboutscience I have a 25 pack from the Internet and would pee on them weekly, even when throwing up all day everyday.
  • Yep. I know it's was silly but I continued taking tests until around the time I got my first ultrasound. I already had them around the house, though.

On a separate note, did they fully delete the sex/gender thread? Usually they just close them. I got through a page or so and then it changed to a page saying I didn't have permission to do that and now I can't find it. Logic says it's gone, but the app is so wonky that I have to ask. I was hoping for some troll-y entertainment.

Ugh I was still on the first page and it was just getting good! Here I was making cloth wipes and watching sixteen and pregnant and I could have been seeing all the drama unfold.

  • Aww I'm sad I missed it. I went to bed right after I called the bump gods. Usually it's closed and not deleted. And is she banned? She totally should be.

  • @maddmama Sorry you didn't get any real answers but glad baby is looking good!

UPDATE: Went to the after hours clinic - they found nothing in my urine suggesting an infection like I first thought, and she was worried about my elevated heart rate and bp. So she sent me to the ER. Great. ER ran tests again and found nothing. Even ran blood work and found nothing strange. He did an u/s of my kidney and that looked fine, too. Oh and we got to see our baby :) all is well there thank goodness! Finally he suggested it could either be a kidney stone (with no way of knowing for sure bc he couldn't run a CT) or something just muscular. Soo I just have to wait and see what happens. And check back in with the doctors office who refused to see me in the first place. I'm just glad to be home in my own bed now!

If it's a kidney stone... it'll make itself VERY known over time. Or you'll pass it. Pray for the latter. I've had them. So painful. I'd rather give birth repeatedly.

reading the "when to stop working" thread and am realizing my fear of the unknown with going into labor, having contractions, breaking water, etc. I was induced with DD (though they said I was contracting at my biophysical profile, which is where I was sent to the hospital from). Even STMs have fears/concerns. Basically, I just don't want to break my water at work or on the couch. How would you clean that? ;)

ETA: I was having a biophysical profile done because I was overdue.

For those that have done this before... did your waters break on their own? I know they snagged my bag with a tool at the hospital once labor got going.
  • I read that most women do not have their water break naturally, most are broken the the hospital. Mine were broke in the hospital after hours of labor
  • @maddmama sorry you didn't get clear cut answers but hoping things clear up for you.

  • Thank you @silvers626 and @Lindsayleigh1989 !!
@MotherOfDucks haha ahhhhh sounds great... I've never had one so I can't tell if that's what this pain is or what. For now, it's strictly in my right kidney area. I'm just glad it's the weekend so if it gets really bad I don't have to be anywhere.
  • @quartz02 its kinda sad that I just got excited that it could break on the couch and I could get a new couch... with my luck it will break inside my new car or on something I dont want/need to replace. (cearly if it breaks at all).

I've only had my water break as the start of labor once. And honestly, if I had been more than 27 weeks along, I'd have seen it coming. I lost my mucus plug the week before. And that morning I was throwing up.

My next two, my membranes were ruptured artificially just before pushing.
  • @MotherOfDucks scary your water broke so early! Oh, the mucus plug. I forgot about that too. I never lost that either. The beauty of motherhood. LOL
  • edited January 2016
@quartz02 I lost my mucus plug while I was taking a shower and started having severe contractions. I was at the hospital about an hour and was admitted. Once I got to my room, I went to pee and my water broke while I was on the toilet. It kept dripping long after that..pretty uncomfortable feeling.
