Re: August IUI's

  • Hi ladies!
I was on the July IUI board but after my day 12 ultrasound we canceled because I had about 6-7 follicles but they were all under 6mm. It was a total bummer.

Still no AF so going to start Provera tomorrow. We are switching to Femara this cycle with trigger shot. Hoping it works better than the clomid and we can have our IUI around the 3rd week of the month.
    Baby dust to all! :)

  • Hi everyone..i'm joining the August group.  Confirmed negative last month but still waiting for AF to show..I'm off my meds now so I am told it should be here in the next few days..then we will get started so I guess mid-late august IUI..GOod luck to all of us..this is our month!!!
  • @AMT&THC @Colleen0516 : I'm on CD 5 (Femara started saturday, injectibles starting tomorrow), so I'm assuming IUI somewhere between the 11 and 13! More cycle buddies :)
  • @Colleen0516 @KidShrink @rachlee2010 @Mando15 We have quite a group here all around the same time. You all know what that means?? Statistically speaking this is effing going to work for some of us! I hope all of us :-) Let's defy the odds and have a 100% success rate for August 2015.

@Colleen0516 I am on 4 ampules of Menopur every evening at promptly 7:30 pm. I have another doc apt on Thursday to check my progress. Last time 3 were big enough. So, I am hoping for similar results. FX!
  • Love the stats! There sure have been lots of BFPs here lately, so we can all have our FX! I'm trying not to have high expectations here (we'll see how that goes once I have daily injections!)...Even though we've been TTC for 2 years, I'm trying to be a little more patient with my body since I have a 'newly renovated' uterus. I'm excited and scared all at the same time, and unfortunately I think this mix of feelings isn't going to go away until I have my baby (babies?) in my arms. I've made some pretty important decisions over the weekend to be able to keep my stress levels as low as possible, so we'll see where that goes!
  • @mando15 @AMT&THC @rachlee2010 @KidShrink love the big group! Lots of support! I would be SOOO HAPPY if we defied odds and all got BFPs! :)
My doctor didn't offer or mention Injectibles (not complaining! Needles and I dong get along to well lol) but I see them used frequently in this forum. I was curious!
I can't get myself mentally ready for this Round, I usually can jump back quick but I'm struggling this week. Clomid tonight sure won't help...Goodluck to my poor husband.

Lots of luck to all of you! FX!!!!

  • @Colleen0516 : back when we went through my investigative cycle (September 2014), my RE did a 3D ultrasound to look at the shape of my uterus..he also did a sonohysterogram to check if the tubes were okay (seems like HSG is more common to look at both, maybe less sensitive?). What he noticed was that my uterus was slightly t-shaped, as if I had an muscle band acting as a bit of an elastic tightening the bottom part of my uterus. It wasn't super severe, so he got us started with Femara and TI (in February, after I had my gallbladder taken ou in January). When we did our 3 rounds of Femara, I responded really well (2-4 good follies each time), but my lining would never get thick enough. He also suspected endometriosis. So he performed a hysterocopy where he essentially cut through that muscle membrane to loosen it up and bring my uterus back to a normal shape. Then a transvaginal endoscopy, where he realized I had a massive amount of endo. So the surgery ended with a laparoscopy to remove endo on my bladder (I still have some going through the wall though, they just wouldn't touch it because it's not bothering me at this point and ordered an MRI instead), bowels, right ovary (it was completely stuck in it, so no chance of anything happening on any cycle where I ovulated on the right), and then all the way up to my liver (completely covered...the gallbladder problems were likely related), and diaphragm.

I've had my period once since (just ending), and I've noticed a HUGE difference. I used to have very little bleeding...and it was very different this month even though AF only came about two weeks after the surgery (and I bled heavily for a few days after that too). So I'm hoping that means my lining is now able to get thick enough! My RE does ultrasound on day 3, 6, and then every day from day 9 to my trigger, so I'm really curious to compare my lining measurements pre- and post-surgery.
  • @kidshrink that's great! It sucked that you had to go through all that, but now you're back on track! Maybe this month will be super successful for you!
My RE tracks my lining too, day 2 and 8 and then everyday til trigger, plus on the day of first IUI. My lining has taken a while to thicken each month. He isnt sure if it's bc of the clomid (it's a side effect) or bc of something else.
Guess we will see what this cycle brings!

  • @Colleen0516 : yeah, I wasn't put on Clomid because of the weird liver issues, and it turned out to be a bonus for my lining. Maybe Femara would have been a good option? Or it turned out okay, so didn't matter? I was 'unexplained' until 3 weeks ago, so I'm sure happy to know what's wrong (although there was a lot wrong, so that's scary). FX for all of us!
  • I will be doing my first iui after two cycles of just clomid ovidrel and progestrone. Levels were great and lining was good so finding out I wasn't pregnant was.shocking. Really feeling down and scared but we are trying to keep our heads up and prayers rolling. Doing 150mg of clomid and assuming ovedrel again and progestrone. Anyone else going through the same or had success from this!!!!
  • What medications is everyone using? Last month I did a combo of letrizole and gonal f This month we are going to be doing letrizole and menopur. Now just need af to show so we can get started.
  • *Clomid 50mg for 5 days. I respond well to it so I'm still on a low dose (usually 3-6 follicles from 50mg). Doctor doesn't want many more.
    *Ovidrel trigger shot
*last 2 cycles I was luck enough to not need progesterone ( we will see what cycle 3 brings)

  • Letrozole 5mg and Follistim/Puregon 75 IU. Then Ovidrel trigger and Prometrium after the IUI. @rachlee2010 : how did you respond to letrozole and gonal f? Had you done any cycles with letrozole only before?
  • @KidShrink I did fairly well with the letrizole and gonal f. Especially since I didn't respond to clomid at all. I had 2 mature follies and 2 immature ones. I never did just letrizole.
  • @rachlee2010 : good to know. I think I'm more afraid to respond too much than the nurse is.

It was an interesting morning at the fertility clinic! Met the receptionist of the place where I rent an office! We both didn't expect that, but it's all good! Then the receptionist (who could use a smile on her face and thankfully isn't the usual one) tell me that I won't be too happy when I'm pregnant because I was happy not to have to book another full bladder ultrasound. I responded that if there was a baby at the end of this, I could deal with all the full bladder ultrasounds in the world (and I refrained from ending my sentence with 'you idiot'). Not sure whether I should say something about that as I have no problem imagining this is not the first or last insensitive thing she's said?
  • My IUI won't be until the end of this month. It will be my third and probably last IUI. In the past we did clomid and a trigger shot. We're going to be more aggressive this cycle so we'll be doing injectible. My insurance will cover the IUI but meds will be oop. Does anyone know the cost of gonal f or folistim oop and where the best place to buy/order them is? Good luck to everyone this month! There are sooo many of us in this group that there has to be some success!!

  • @lilmissslp : not sure that'll be helpful but I just got 300IU of Puregon (the canadian Follistim) for $325. Good luck with this cycle!
  • Hi August IUI group! First time posting, followed the July IUI during my tww but had to wait 72 hours to post and by then I was officially bumped to August.

Background: Had 1st IUI last month (dx: skinny PCOS + low morphology. Tried naturally 2yrs, got nada. Opk'd in May and got 7
  • 7 positives due to high LH. Grrrr!

For July: 5mg letrizol x 5 days, ovidrel trigger and 1st IUI attempt. Had 2 follicles >19. They didn't measure lining or give progesterone. Period - 12dpiui. Day 3 BW tomorrow!
  • I'm literally sitting waiting for my baseline u/s hoping get the go ahead for 100 ml clomid. Other than that I don't know anything. This is my first attempt at IUI. Everyone seems to know so much here. I love reading your posts.
  • @HBamama2B Do you know why they didn't give you progesterone? I may ask them to do that. I start my treatment this month - Menopur then ovidrel trigger shot before IUI. Hopefully SOON!

  • @AdorkablePixie  we can be menopur buddies..I am just waiting for AF to show then will start on cd 3 I believe.  Hopefully that will be next week.

@littlemissslp  I am not sure the best place to get any of these meds from but last month I took Gonal F..my doctor ordered me 600 iu (2 pens of 300 each) and I paid oop.  I got it from cornerstone pharmacy in willow grove pa and it cost about $475  I did get a 25% discount a believe because my RE's office has a deal with them for patients who have to pay oop to get 25% off..so may not be the cheapest for you
  • @AdorkablePixie thanks! I have no idea. It's one of the things I want to ask tomorrow. They didn't say anything last month about progesterone or monitoring my uterine lining. And I know I've had low progesterone in the past, so I definitely want that aspect answered before we move into this cycle.
  • @Bmusser11 that's a really great question! All I know is that injectables are a more aggressive treatment and seem to have a higher success rate. They have no idea why it isn't working and that makes it really frustrating. Last IUI I had 3 follies (17, 20, 22) and my hubby's sperm count was over 50 million…I was really hopeful. I'm so sorry you're in the same boat. Have you done a few IUIs as well?

  • I just got the good news to start 100ml of clomid tonight. In so excited.
  • So ladies, just got home from acupuncture. It was an INTERESTING experience. As most of you know, I'm not keen on needles (horrible fear to have when you need fertility treatments :( )
He started talking to me, and next thing I know there are needles in my stomach. It actually wasn't bad at all! Then he put some in my legs. My legs instantly cramped up- he definitely hit a pressure point. I told him it hurt, he loosened it up and the left the room.
I laid there for 30 minutes- (long time to be starting at needles.)
I was good for about 15 min but then started panicking. I hate myself lol. It's supposed to be calming and I start sweating and getting anxious. Ugh!
Going back on Thursday! Hopefully it goes better!

  • Lol! If it can reassure you, I didn't relax even just a bit! Was that point in your leg on the inside of your calves? I had one there that I felt quite a bit even after. He also put a plastic tray over the ones on my stomach and covered me all in blankets. I was trying to do 'belly breathing' to relax, but I was starting to freak out because it was hard to do with the needles, tray and blanket! I managed to sort of hold the tray up which made it better. Going back tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes! Good luck with your next appointment!

@KidShrink YES! Mid calf, it was horrible! My leg was fully cramped up, I wanted to flex my foot but I couldn't bc I would get a jolt of pain. So I tried to reposition and hit one of the needles, it pushed it in even further!! X_X
    No Bueno! Lol
My leg is still aching right now! This better help :-SS
Thankfully no trays and I wasn't wrapped up. Just had a heat lamp over me and pulsing machine attached to one of the needles (but I didn't feel that one)

I'm either waiting forAF or August 11, whichever comes first. It's so hard to be patient! @HBamama2B Yeah, I'd definitely ask before moving to the next cycle. • I have my IUI tomorrow because I triggered last night (Tuesday). I'm super nervous that they had me trigger too late because on Monday my follicle measured 19mm and I thought that was supposed to be a mature size.  Does anyone else get fearful that their IUI will be too late to work? I know I'm probably over-thinking this...
  • I'm on my 6th Gonal-F shot. Yesterday morning they said everything is on the right track... My lining was a little higher then 6. I go back tomorrow (thurs) morning to see where I'm at. This is my first IUI. Excited and nervous

  • @jlynn330 the way my docs phrase it you just have to have a follie >19 but I've seen posts from 19-24 on trigger day. Hope that helps!
  • @jlynn330 I don't think that's too late, I'm sure the doctor wouldn't have waited so long if it was. I know most people trigger when they have follies at 20-22 so I think you're fine. GL!! Keep us all posted. :)

@mummysmomma Yay! Good luck to you. I have my first one later this month if all goes right!

  • Do you get bloodwork and ultrasound for a few days in a row prior to your trigger? When to trigger shouldn't just be based on the size of follies, but your hormone levels too(E2 should be between 200-300 per mature follie, and they should see your LH go up). Otherwise you may be triggering too early. On my last cycle with Letrozole only, I had one follie who was 'ready' for a full 3 days. However, by the time I triggered, I had 3 follies that were good (21, 18, 18). I would have had only one had they triggered me 2 days earlier.
  • I had my IUI yesterday and I want to punch anyone who said "he feels like a pap smear".  It was more painful than the HSG.  The nurse hit the top of my uterus and I came off the table.  OWWWW!!!  So now we wait.  I was on Letrzole with a trigger on Monday.  I had a 2 and 3cm (or a 20 and a 30mm).  .  Yes you  heard that correct, a 3cm folly

    Fingers crossed to everyone else!!
