Same, OP. Take your distrust of "science facts" and antisemitic beliefs elsewhere. You crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed.

I didn't take anything out of context. You equated following something to be a "cow" and in the same breath stated look what happened to the Jews. So it's their fault they had guns pointed to their head, dragging them away from family? Not all Jews blindly walked away. The is incredibly offensive. INCREDIBLY derogatory. Their suffering is not something you have any right to justify being anti-vax.
Deplorable.

I'm saying by not questioning anything you are following blindly. I gave example of the Jews because the people who were telling them to follow did not have their best interest at heart and ended up hurting the Jews. That is what I'm saying. And I think you know that.

No, you called them cows, basically being led to slaughter. That they were to stupid to question those around them. That is what I am inferring from what you said based on tons of prior evidence of what you said regarding being anti-vax. NOT OKAY. And refresh your history, they didn't go blindly in the night. Big guns were involved.

There is only one thing I want to add to the plethora of science found here.
If I ate an orange, I would end up hospitalized with a debilitating migraine, sometimes struggling to breath. Based on my anecdotal evidence, oranges are very, very bad for people. I'm not the only one with this reaction and it starts immediately after I put an all natural orange in my body. I don't understand how the government allows oranges to be grown and sold. After all, I bet most of you can eat oranges but a bad reaction COULD happen to you. It is my most sincere wish none of you have a bad orange reaction but I really can't advise you to eat them.
I sincerely hope the OP is ready to give up oranges. How can she possibly eat them after hearing my story? She can talk directly to me, I'll tell you all about how much school I missed before being diagnosed. The story is completely true, btw.
I don't doubt that there are kids who have negative reactions to vaccines. We are all built differently, our bodies react differently to things. That said, most people react very, very, very poorly to polio, measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, etc. There is more danger getting in our cars each day than being vaccinated. Or eating an orange. So, yeah, if you are going anecdotal, you better go all the way.
Also, I so wish I had not read @camoxley 's post. Camoxley, thank you for the story of your friend who hasn't gotten sick despite not being vaccinated. I'm very glad to hear she hadn't been exposed to measles, what a relief. Thank you herd immunity! You are so, so, so welcome for the protection your kids will receive from mine. After all, you said if we are doing it we shouldn't worry. Neither should you, we've got your back. I'm not sure about those immuno compromised folks though, you should probably avoid them, they can't protect you. You are right, discussing unpopular beliefs with those that disagree may open your mind to facts, terrible idea.

Taking things out of context? You mean like taking snippets of unsubstantiated research to base your decision making process and judge the parenting of others? And then refuse to hear other people's side of things even despite them hearing you out (ad nauseum) about your decisions? You mean, like that?

I am seriously disgusted now that you just compared choosing vaccination to the Holocaust. There is no more reasoning with you, and I guarantee you it is going to make it hard for you to be a part of this community now, if not before.
Blame it on coincidence? Well there are simply too many of those not to raise red flags. You can create the situation however you want but the truth is this mother knows her child and she knows what is different in him and none of that took place until after the vaccination. Just because it didn't happen to you does not make it fake. I'm sure if it had happened to you or your child your perspective would be more cautious and you wouldn't be so quick to judge. Your car and Allegra example is not even close to being the same or making sense. Clearly you have your eyes closed.
Yes, I'M the one with my eyes closed. Show me where I said it was fake. I was very polite to you and asked you where the proof was that the vaccination caused the issue. I also know that even if it had happened to my child, a mute child is better than one that dies from a horrible disease. My comparison is exactly the same because correlation does not equal causation. Do some real research and stay off biased opinion pages.
I'm done. You turned this into one of the most disgusting vaccine threads I've read in my history here with your most recent comments.
Omg, I can't even with this anymore. I don't know why I can't leave this train wreck alone. Op seriously, you say you have never infected anybody (at least I think it was you) how is that even possible? And how could you even know this? You can be contagious before you have serious symptoms. For instance when I was a kid I got strep throat every year. Don't know why, it just happened. At first I didn't realize the symptoms and I probably went to school and got other kids sick. It happens unintentionally which is why vaccines are so freaking important!!!! So you don't give a baby or cancer patient something that is going to kill them because they can't get vaccines or a booster.
And please learn your history. I don't even know how we jumped from anti vaccine to the holocaust. There are no similarities. And reaching to try to find them just shows a lack of education on the topic.
Thanks for the hot man gigs ladies, we need to end this thread with them.

My report button isn't working. @Kbalas1018 definitely referred to my family as cows who followed the herd to their death Without question. I can't begin to tell you how angry and insulted this makes me feel. It is clearly in violation of the TOU. There is no way I can enjoy my time on the The Bump with this type of antisemetic behavior.
There are just some things OP you don't compare things to and the Holocaust is not one of them. One of the biggest tragedies of this world & you want to compare it to vaccination.
No.

----------------------------------------- Do you even understand the premise of herd immunization? Reguardless of your intent what you said was highly offensiveat best. I don't think my jewish great uncle who emigrated to the US in the early 1940s from Denmark would appreciate your ignorant generalizations.
As a trained microbiologist, with a significant background in genetics, I just want to scream with every one of your uneducated fear, mongering statements.
In developed nations we have the luxury of ignorance. You have never seen a disease tear through a village killing well over half, never had to comfort a mother who has buried multiple children due to preventable disease like polio, rubella, measles, ect. In developed countries we have forgotten how truly devastating these disease are. In other countries parents walk for miles to bring their children to clinics passing out vaccines, because they know that they save lives. Our bodies are amazing, but they are in no way equipped to deal with these diseases (duh comments sense would say this is obvious, that's why vaccinations were created).
The "trendyness" of the ant-Vax movement will allow disease to once again spread, and mutate to the point the vaccinations are no longer effective. Once thousands of people will die, because people don't want to read a true scientific paper, instead they listen to Jenny McCarthy and uneducated blog writters.

Wut? Please tell me why you would think that these two scenarios are similar? Please, read a book, or even watch the history channel or visit a museum. Anything. My grandma was in a labor camp in the holocaust and I can assure you they weren't "just following the herd in search of better conditions." They were forcibly removed from their homes and separated from their families and shipped off. Any respect I had for this conversation went completely down the drain. This is quite literally the dumbest argument I've ever seen in the history of the anti-vaccination debate.
Edit: I would like to add that the reason I'm especially offended by this is because that statement makes it sound like the Jewish people (although, ahem, not ALL of the prisoners in the holocaust were Jewish) ignorantly and blindly just followed along voluntarily.
Hugely heated discussion. I myself, along with my DH are pro-vaccine. I was a sickly child growing up and feel that vaccines are one of the reasons why I'm around today.
OP, first of all, you need to stop assuming that every pro-vaxxer just heard one person say, "Hey, you need to vaccinate your kids," and said, "Oh, okay." and stopped there. Lots of us have weighed the benefits and the risks, knowing that there are indeed risks, and determined, with the help of many a scientific study and mountains of evidence, that even though there is a slight risk to vaccinating, it's still more dangerous not to. Many of us have read a lot of information, on both sides, about vaccinations. I know I'm not the only one here who clicks on the anti-vax links, even the ridiculous ones, to further educate myself on the subject. And then I look at all of the sources that they cite, and trace them back and read those, too. And I do the same for the pro side. So quit acting like because you're questioning the majority, you're the only one doing any critical thinking or not acting like a sheeple.
Second of all, you comparing parents vaccinating children to the Holocaust... no. Just no. I've been around TB a long time and that is one of the most absurdly offensive, ignorant statements that I have ever seen. Step back for a minute and THINK about what you just said. Do you honestly believe millions of people being forced (and yes, I mean forced, at gunpoint, while watching people around them die at the hands of Nazis for resisting) out of their homes were really just a herd, following the crowd because it's what everyone else was doing and the authorities were telling them it was right and better, and they didn't think to resist?
I'm appalled at where you've gone with this thread. I think you should reevaluate if you really want to be here, because I'm pretty sure this isn't the place for you.
Doctors are trained in medicine... Not heath. That is why many doctors can't help you unless they give you medicine. There are other things in this world that can help you besides drugs.
Do you know how doctors are trained because you've been to medical school? No? Well I do, because I did. I'm a PCP. I'm appalled by that statement. About 80% of my job is preventative medicine- meaning screening for cancer, weight loss, smoking cessation, etc.
Oh and next time you have a UTI, sinus infection, or heaven forbid a stroke or heart attack please stay away from these doctors who do not know how to help you.
P.S. I've know 100s if not thousands of doctors in my training and I've NEVER met a single one who is antivax.
Nothing bothers me more than when people tell me about the flaws and motives of physicians. No, they aren't perfect, they are people- but if you aren't willing to trust their opinion and training about something as black and white as vaccines, I'm not sure why you would use one at all.
Wow, I missed a lot. Pro-vaccine here. Even though my daughter's allergic to eggs and that makes me nervous with certain vaccines I fully support vaccinating if you are able. This thread's been very entertaining though!

Of them were given false hope! Ya'll are offended SO easily and love taking things out of context to use as a weapon against something you don't want to listen to.

Do you even understand the premise of herd immunization?
