Y-- yes? My insurance covers 100% of the cost for "semi-private" rooms (which is two people per room) and then $6/day to cover the difference between semi-private and private.
I am fairly certain that in my hospital, at least, if you don't want to upgrade at all you're in a room with four people, semi-private ($180/night) is two people, then private ($220) is obviously private.
I'm guessing you are delivering in a big hospital? The hospital I delivered in before and the one I'm delivering in this time is small but all rooms are private
Everyone was late for Thanksgiving. I am starving. I want to start eating even though we are still waiting for two more people who said we could start without them. My mother keeps calling me chubby and I keep telling her "No, I'm just 9 months pregnant". She also can't believe how Clean the house looks. She swears we are fucking hoarders. H doesn't want to to start until someone says Grace but no one wants to say ducking grace. He keeps ignoring my please to start. Now I'm upstairs in the the bathroom crying because I can't keep it together and I don't want to make a scene.
:::Sigh:::
Ugh...time to put on the big girl panties and fix my make up.
November Siggy Challenge: How I feel in the Third Trimester
My cat wouldn't torture them in front of me, but she would bring them in as love gifts
@misskilljoy chocolate milk is my LIFELONG obsession. Since my in-laws found out about my love for it they have made it a point to have it at every special meal... and even some not so special ones Definitely over-indulged today. And it was glorious!
Also. Had my first super hormonal cry over a song I've heard on the radio plenty of times. Tears STREAMING. Played it for my husband later on the drive to the in-laws and it happened again. Had a good chuckle over that one!
@aaron&corey Don't listen to Darius Rucker's "It won't be like this for long".... Makes me bawl every time! I'm a sap.
Eta: don't know why i couldn't find you with the @ thingy....i'm too tired to figure it out. Sorry!
@misskilljoy - I'm in the same situation. It will cost $30 extra a night for a private room. Although they still won't guarantee it. I'm willing to pay for the privacy though!
Our hospital has labor rooms and then recovery rooms. Some are larger and called nesting rooms and they are meant for mom, dad, and baby. There are also smaller rooms for moms who send the baby to the nursery (but you are allowed the option of keeping LO with you). But all of them are just for one family. I mean, who wants to try and BF for the first time, or try to haul their (literally) bloody ass to the bathroom or something with just a little curtain or something for privacy? That just seems so crazy to me. I hope all of you are able to get private rooms! I'm already going to be stressed enough - I wouldn't want to share in any one else's post-delivery drama a few feet away.
We've got it pretty good at our hospital too. All L&D and recovery rooms are private, fairly spacious, have couches that fold out into beds (though I doubt they're comfortable), and the L&D rooms are all equipped with jetted tubs. Plan on making good use of that sucker!

All our rooms as well! I had no idea some places didn't have the option of privacy.
@misskilljoy - that sucks that you keep having to go up there! I hope you get some sleep and that your MD can help you figure out some solution other than bouncing in and out of L&D.
Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I'm trying to get caught up on everything that happened here yesterday... My hospital has all private labor rooms and recovery rooms. They now have a kitchen for the husbands too.
Today is my last day of work! 4 and a half hours left . I'll miss my students, but definitely won't miss being at work. I'm so tired at the end of the day!
Private rooms are first-come first-serve now... But they will put a mom in every room before they start doubling, and if they do have to double, they try to put the most recent delivery in with the mom who will be going home soonest. That way everyone hopefully has privacy for as long as possible.
This is how it is at the hospital where I'll be delivering. It's NYC, any privacy comes at a premium, and in this case I'm willing to pay for it, especially now since I've heard about the challenges of recovery on this board.

So I'm bored waiting for Battle.net to come back up so I can continue gaming, perusing other forums on TB, when I come across a post on N14 about newborn baby girls having "periods" as they clear out hormones from mom after birth.
I-- no one told me this happens! I'm so glad I read it before I went into full-fledged panic mode after my baby is born. Wow.
I recall reading this I think in a book somewhere but thank you for reminding me completely forgot about it!

Wait - what!? Like a real period? How much/long? This is the first I've heard of this!

I saw that too, it freaks me out. I'm sure I will go into panic mode anyway! I told SO about it today and it freaked him out too.
I watched an episode of "My ER Story" where that happened to the baby.... But the mom was on estrogen meds and didn't stop when she was told to. still freaky.
Just to wanted to add: Some babies (boy and girls) can have some leaking from their nipples after birth. Just like with the baby girls' "periods", it is just excess hormones from your body. Leave it alone and it will resolve on it's own.

How has this not been brought to my attention?! thank you for bringing this up.

I have never heard of this either! I would have totally freaked out.
If I see another mucus plug or how to induce labor thread, I might start bashing my head against the wall.
At this point there isn't even the moment of surprise since by now it's clear there's plenty of self-centered and lazy to go around. And then the inevitable hypocritical lecture about being supportive during this sensitive time. Yawn.

If I see another mucus plug or how to induce labor thread, I might start bashing my head against the wall.
What makes it even worse is everyone I see in real life had started the, oh you haven't had that baby yet? You need to walk, you need to have sex, blah blah. No people, what I need to do is let my baby stay put until she is ready! I'm only 39 weeks, leave me alone!

I am not quite 36 weeks, and it seems like it's a constant stream of comments about my size and/or how I must be so eager to get the baby out and/or how the baby must be coming any minute.
Nope, I'm just fucking huge, thanks!
People are assholes.

I think it's so weird when people tell me (or any pregnant woman) to have sex. First of all, I'm single-so I don't know if they hope for me to pick someone up at the bar or how they expect me to go about that one. Second of all, why are you thinking about my sex life? Maybe I AM having lots of sex!

My SO mom keeps saying there is no way I will have this baby vaginally, that I will have to have a c section because I am way too big. Well yeah maybe it's because I'm 5'3 with a short torso and there isn't much room for this baby to grow. I had to tell SO that there are plenty of women who are my size that have vaginal births everyday.
Ugh, double whammy. Not only a comment on size, but trying to tell you you CAN'T do something. SUPER annoying!

@feeshah - you need to steal a plate of food and lock yourself in the bathroom with it. Chubby my ass - you're just pregnant and hangry.
