@marsavary, my baby gets 40 wks max then I serve her with an eviction notice lol Besides, they've found that baby's who go over their due date have similar issues like those who come early; I think it's sugar regulation and something else.
Not to say it happens to every baby who goes over 40 wks (don't want anyone to freak out) but I thought the info was interesting
Why do doctors let women go past their due dates then? My practice will let me go to 41 weeks 3 days.
Why do Docs induce early when there's no medical reason to? I think it all depends on your OB and what studies they follow and believe. Heck, took 20 yrs for the no food or drink rule during labor to be debunked as not necessary.
And I don't get th whole freak out over a "big" baby and delivery. 7-9lbs is the normal range! If my kid was 10lbs+, then maybe yeah, I can see that causing some issues. But unless you've got the pelvis width of a child or are physically unable to push them out for various medical purposes, why the push for a c-section?
Didn't realize how much my OB is so laid back till now. She won't even discuss a c-section unless it's medically founded and vaginal would put both me and baby at risk. Bless her crunchy heart
I asked my mw about it last week and she said if I make it to my 40w apt then we will talk about next steps then. I always just thought it was like a 2 week window around your due date that was normal? I think that your due date should be the last day they will let you go from the beginning. That way there is none of this going weeks past the day you've been counting down to fit 9 months.
My due date is next Tuesday and I hope she comes around then. My doctor said that they don't usually induce until 2 weeks after the due date and won't even consider it (unless medically necessary) until 10 days past. Ahhhhh.....can't imagine another 3 weeks! So tired and sore already.
I have this irrational fear that I will be in labor and not realize it. Will someone please slap me and tell me to get over it? I feel like there has been so much donut talk today. This morning Dh ate the last 2 donuts we had and left the empty box on the counter so I woke up thinking there were donuts.

So, a girl trying to give me a free cleaning demo (AKA trying to sell me a Kirby) just came by my house. She was very sweet and very cute. I feel bad, she is walking around in the rain trying to sell vacuums. She said, "You look like you were just doing housework" as I open the door. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? Someone tell me. Please.
Next time, respond with "and you look like you're an idiot thinking people buy vaccums this way anymore!"
Am I the only one convinced there is a tiny UFC fighter inside of me? Honestly, his movements are painfully violent at times.
I guess I'm not the one uncomfortable.
Haha I routinely grunt from my ninjas movements!
I do too, and everytime dh panics and asks if we need to go to the hospital.
Lmao mine too. He is like afraid to touch me right now too. "I don't want to squish the baby." Lmfao.
It's cute though how he acts when it comes to LO.
Edited for grammatical errors.
OK good. Misery likes company. I was legit worried a few times that he is going to break or bust something. I define it as a salsa dance mixed with UFC fighting and occasionally I think he uses my ovaries as stress balls.
It's going to be a long and painful 3 weeks. I dare someone to remind me I could go to 42 weeks...... @-)
I'm definitely in the same boat. My little girl is downright violent!
As far as docs going past due dates, mine said she wont go more than 10 days past my due date. I'm good with that!
I had a weird moment this morning when my doctor informed me she offers something called 'sweeping the membranes' to people who want to move things along or if a patient has hit their due date. Thankfully I know fully well what that means through reading/discussions here. I made it clear I don't want this done, even though she wasn't pressuring me at all, just letting me know it was an option. Still, I found it strange that she would bring it up at 38 weeks on the dot. I think in the past she mentioned looking at induction around 41 weeks. I hope this doesn't become an issue later (and by later in 2 weeks when my due date arrives--that is insane).
Anyhow, she did a cervical check and I'm softening nicely, head is down, no dilation. Interesting, and it didn't hurt, thankfully.
In other news, I got an email from a headhunter about a management position elsewhere and heard about another great job opportunity through the grapevine. If I weren't pregnant, I'd be looking to move just like everyone else around here because of some ongoing organizational issues. Sigh, bad timing but so it goes.

@MissChristineMarie we had people in a creepy van I our area "selling" sweepers and a carpet deodorizer with it. When you smelled the deodorizer it was maze and then they'd rob your house. This is why I have a large dog and answer the door with a gun most days.

@bvsbabymomma it's not that I live in a bad area, it is a small town and we are in the country. I had a guy come and ask me to help jump his car, that it died on his way home. He had it turned around and backed into the neighbors driveway. I was not shy about displaying the gun I had. Another guy got in a fight with his girlfriend one winter and they pulled over so he could pee, he walked to our house with no shoes to use the phone. It is some weird stuff!

FFTC/UO: I hate ice from Sonic. They always put too much. I have to tell them "light ice" every time!
WHAT!? You are insane.
Also- my baby was only 8lbs but the nurse commented on his gigantic head when she was measuring it. It's probably from my elasti-vag but he came out fine... His shoulder got stuck but not his giant pumpkin head
@Shortstack06 Bounty hunters came looking for my friend's husband a few months after I took over their apartment. I saw two guys get out of the car, one go around the side of my house and one come to the door. I opened a kitchen window with my gun and the big dog. Glad I have both.
@agsgrrl I couldn't imagine not knowing how to shoot. I would definitely do the same! We have had ADT and now have Guardian but you are your first defense. Glad I am not the only one!

@chelseavranich I am glad we aren't the only ones like this! It is sad that people have resorted to the lifestyle of robbing people while they are home. We literally have guns stashed all over the house and have been trying to figure out gun safety with baby now and how to be proactive in education on them.

A few months ago a guy was going around my parents' area claiming that he worked for DirecTV and needed to come in to do an inspection on their box. He was very adamant and tried to argue with my mother about why he needed to come in the house. She said that if she felt there was an issue she would have called and that she would be calling the police whether he came inside or not. He hightailed it out of there and It turned out that he was gaining access to people's homes and robbing them. They never caught him but he still pops up around the area every once in a while either as a salesperson or a repairman of some sort.
I NEVER open the door when I am home by myself and if it's past 9 p.m. that someone knocks on the door my husband will grab the gun to answer it. You just never know.
I had this happen a couple of years ago. Claimed there was problem with the cable and wanted to check the box. Told him we didn't have cable and he still tried to get in the door. Got his card and it said he was a sales rep...His supervisor and HR may have received a call about the "appropriateness" of claiming to be a service tech going around to only select units in the apartment complex at 8pm at night. They were profusely apologetic and I never saw him in the neighborhood again.
I think I have talked about this before, but I have never ever ever shot a gun. I cannot imagine even holding a loaded one. All that power in your hands. It kind of scares me, to be honest.
Same with me, but we don't have the same gun culture like Americans do, but they scare the heck out of me.
They scare me too. I have an alarm system and two big dogs. DH wouldn't mind keeping a baseball bat next to our bed, but that's all I'm comfortable with.
Same as me...never held a loaded gun before. Guns totally scare me.

My doctor won't induce until at least 10 days after my due date and preferably 2 weeks past. She did offer a membrane sweep today though at 39 weeks. I told her that I'd rather wait another week and she agreed that was best. Unfortunately, she also told me that she is taking a vacation for the next 3.5 weeks, so she definitely won't be at the birth or any more of my appointments...boo!
@chelseavranich we actually have two large gun safes. It was our first purchase after we bought our house, the second came two years later.
@katylou91 we used to go every Sunday and shoot sporting clays, it was a rough summer for me, especially after he bought me anew gun. It is a fun hobby/couple thing. The place we shoot has a youth league that competes that are pretty good.

Ugh, that sucks! My ob doesn't deliver babies anymore, which I knew from the outset so never had to worry about being disappointed about this. I have met the four doctors who could be on call and liked them all, thankfully.
I think LO heard the doctor talking about not having dropped and has been making his or her presence known in full force tonight with lightning crotch and ninja kicks.

Thank you ladies for the well wishes. All is good with Chalupa and my blood pressure. Well, that was BEFORE I read the wonderful stories about people trying to break into your houses! I keep a baseball bat by my bed and have two big dogs. No guns in my house. I never answer the door when I am by myself. Too many weirdos!
@CandEChicago when I hear about things like that I always think to myself what a dangerous situation it could have become. I'm also super paranoid about things like that so I almost always go there.
We have a few hunting and target shooting guns in the closet, but I keep a 9mm in my night stand drawer. Too many weirdos around here for sure. And I have a big scary dog
It's Baby Day!!!! I am up at 4:30 and will be headed to the hospital around 5. My c-section should be around 7:30. I am nervous and looking forward to getting the surgery over with so I can meet my son!!

We have guns in every room of the house, and 3 big dogs. Although I'm not sure how much good they would do, they are the sweetest dogs in the world. But from a distance they could look scary. I was terrified of guns until I meet dh and he taught me everything about them. Tomorrow is my 40w appt and we are going to be discussing options for inducing if it comes to that. Now I am super nervous about that. I never thought this whole waiting and not knowing when thing would be so stressful!
We don't by have any guns (I've never had the opportunity to learn to shoot) but people do get taken aback when you answer the door with a broadsword. Ha!! I have been trying to train my four year old to NOT open the door when someone comes to it while we are home alone. He is way too friendly a lad.
My dad loaned us a gun when we lost power for a week back in 2011 after the tornados that swept through Alabama. We were getting reports of robberies and such and have no fence for our yard so felt pretty vulnerable. Slept a lot easier with the gun, but then my DH is a veteran and a really good shot, so I wasn't worried.
My dad bought me a gun after I got pregnant and mentioned I got nervous coming home when it was dark and was by myself for the evening. DH was finishing up school so he was out most nights till 9pm or so. I felt safer having one in my nightstand which is where it still is! We need to put locks on our cases now that DD has access but I really want the key code ones instead cause they're faster.
