They're going as cat and mouse. My neighborhood is having a parade and TOT social on Halloween, and it's well before DDs' bedtime (for once!!!), so I'm excited for them to participate in the festivities this year.

I have NO IDEA! I have no idea what I did wrong and how a 7 year friendship is ending because...of...work? I don't even know. To be honest I don't care. Her husband is jehova and I am not, so I took her out every mothers day for pedicures and have a party for her birthday and have xmas, thanksgiving, ect and she just takes, takes takes so its not a huge loss I guess.

Guys, I just got home and totally can't believe my luck. My car is spotless, well, I'll have to wash it. No furniture or clothing or decoration loss. We had one for certain tree casualty and potentially one other (wait and see). We've also got power, so I can get all of the laundry done/started. I've got a couple of things that I need to toss out of the fridge, but other than that, everything looks good. They're tarping the roof now and we can still stay in the apartment. There is some water staining on the walls from where it came straight down, but they got professional cleaners in so apart from the furniture being in odd places, everything is fine.

Now my GTKY: slugs completely gross me out. I can do snails, but not slugs.

I'm leaving it at that because I don't want to interact with them nor do I have the care or energy for it.

I don't know if y'all remember, but we have an animal in our wall. Based purely on speculation of the sounds - I thought it was a squirrel (sounds bigger than a mouse/rat, but moves really quickly/scrambling). We have told our landlord an have been waiting like 2 months for him to do something about it.

Last night I went to call the dog back in (10:00pm) and saw him spook an animal up a large tree by our back deck. It looked different than a cat, so I went back inside, got a flashlight, shined it on the animal in the tree. It was a raccoon. I think it is eating out of our composter (a mounted 50 gallon plastic drum with a few air holes) which is at the base of said tree.

More backstory, before we moved in and before the house was renovated (apparently it was a real dump before our landlord bought it and renovated) it was infested with raccoons. 

Now, I am afraid that the animal in our wall is a raccoon and they are coming back to take over the house!!!

Oh I totally read that on based purely on our ultrasounds and I was totally confused on what you were talking about.

We don't have raccoons here but are they dangerous? Can you get a trap from the county? (we get them all the time for skunks)

i know what the urban legend comes from but in real life ive seen variations of it. Like La'a was how i saw it at chucky cheese once.

Ha, no reason to worry. This person never ever participate in the spam thread. In fact, she only sporadically participates on this board but does post frequently elsewhere. I make it a point to ignore her because she is so unbelievably annoying, but today I just couldn't help myself.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. I thought that maybe I was being bitch because she reminds of DH's friends urban foraging wife.

Speaking as someone in another mixed family I'll give that perspective. FI has a DD who I love as my own... It's a little different because she has a mom in the picture, but I questioned the protocol on this too. Bottomline, as my FI pointed out, there is something so different about going through carrying and delivering a baby and no woman should have to miss out on all of the joy that comes from that through celebrating.

I am sure she had a lovely shower for her son but she hasn't had one while pregnant and subjected to belly measuring or whatever.. (though I do not personally encourage such games) And I don't know if adoption was just always a part of her plan, or more of an alternative to being able to get pregnant, but even more so if the latter is true, do it up!

She probably would never ask for it, but I love your ideas! Make dinners with the girls for her, drink spakling cider and have yummy appetizers.. Maybe more of a general celebration without the weight of a "baby shower" but where she is acknowledged for being a member of the knocked up crowd.

Ours is just a cheapie Target one, so I launder it maybe every other week unless there's some icky toddler mess on it that warrants an immediate washing (like when DD got poop all over herself and the comforter). It fits in our washer luckily; otherwise, I'd probably not be as diligent about it.
