16 weeks today, and heading to the doc in a little bit. Then tomorrow we have our first preschool tour for DS. He's not even 2, but that's how it goes in NYC. I hate having to start this process so early, but it is what it is. On the upside, I am looking forward to having a few hours a week just for me and this LO when big boy goes to school next September.
I hate the cold I hate the cold I hate the cold!!! It's too early in the year for me to be freezing. In other news I don't work till 4 so im gonna lay on my couch and prob do nothing till then!
Oh a/s isn't until the 29th I feel like I will be the last to know of the non team greeners lol
My mom is ultra convinced it is a boy and has already started calling it JT which stands for James (which will be the boy middle name and T is for SO's last name. Ugh it has now been about 24 hours since we have told her and she is all over this. She is ready to redecorate her spare room into a nursery right now. Hahaha uhh she is hear though
March 15' January Siggy Callenge: Animals Being Jerks
Despite a head cold (which it seems like I'm finally getting over after two weeks), I survived a double wedding weekend. Work still continues to be crazy so I'll only be able to sporadically post but warm fuzzies to all who need them!
And I'm 19wk 2da!
"Serious is only something you have to be until you can be silly again."
I've been worrying more about how working from home is going to go with a LO. I work for a very small company and wear many "hats", because we are so small Maternity Leave isn't available to me...I've been saving my hours and working OT so I'll be able to take a few solid weeks but that's it. They've been clear that they will work with me and allow a more lenient schedule as long as the work gets done but I know there is going to be a point where something's gotta give. Someone one the board said something yesterday that really hit home, "You can't do two full time jobs at the same time." Neither will be done well. Anyway, I guess my random is I have a lot to figure out & research options so I'm ready as my schedule gets crazy next year!
Screw getting out of bed lately. Dunno if it's the chilly weather or how dark it is now, or my general, lazy disposition lately, but... I just...no. I don't wanna. Good luck, @RQuinlin !
My dad is insists that the baby is a girl. I told him I'll call him tomorrow after the A/S to let him know the sex. (He's the only person who will be finding out this early due to his health issues.) He was very confident saying I don't need to call because it's definitely a girl.
@pmv81 sorry if anyone scared you yesterday. I don't have nearly enough experience wfm as a lot of other ladies on here. I've done it if I was feeling under the weather and my boss felt like some work from home was better than none. I've never tried to get 8 hours in at home or try when dd was young. The youngest she was was maybe 9 months. Which we were bf so still really hard.
Clearly I'm not afraid to have another newborn because I'm here! However, I remember those first 2 months being rough. I don't know how I personally could get any work done. That's not to say you can't. But for me bf and no sleep and a newborn (PLUS a toddler for me) and working would not happen.
Do you have family or friends that will also help in the beginning?
Probably more of a reality check then anything. I've had several people say, "you're so lucky you get to work from home so she can be with you for the first couple of years" - or something along those lines & I'm thinking in the back of head...it's not that simple! I think hearing a more realistic view helps.
We live really far from family, so they won't be here to help besides the first initial visits which I'm definitely scattering around the first few months.
A friend of mine here works from home with a newborn and a toddler that goes to preschool, but she does 20 hour weeks. I'm considering hiring a nanny to come here part time so I can easily breast feed (fingers crossed) & have dedicated work time but I think that'd be hard to focus also.
I didn't even know there was an eclipse! I was looking at the moon around 4am bc I woke up and it was soooo bright. I thought that was pretty.
@pmv81 - I was on that discussion too, don't mean to be dour but yeah you just can't make it work. Not if you're supposed to be full time. In your situation your LO will be too small for daycare so I would agree with PP your viable option would be to get in-home care. If you don't have a friend or relative that would be able/interested, then you'll need to hire a nanny. I don't know where you are but where I am you can get a college student or recent HS grad with some child care experience for about the same price as daycare or cheaper. You could still WFH but would have to be disciplined, and that would give you the benefit of being able to keep an eye on the nanny to know they are doing a good job (because they are younger). It could be a temp arrangement for a month until your LO can go to daycare or you could make it long term.

Thanks. I'm going to talk to MH and start looking into nanny options, we are definitely in a college area so that's a good idea to explore. I also don't want to end up working in the evenings once he gets home and not have any family time. So I need to find a balance/help.
I couldn't sleep last night so woke up with another headache. I am certainly sympathizing with all of you who cannot find a comfortable position. I don't want to get a pregnancy pillow because I feel like it would take up half the bed and DH flails around like a dolphin in his sleep (he actually woke up once after kicking me HARD and told me he was dreaming he was a dolphin...) so I'm not sure adding more things for him to hit will be conducive to good sleep for me.
Three weeks until my a/s and do not know how I'm going to make it until then!
My local hospital found a hospital that has high risk ob and a GI specialist on duty together and is not at capacity so they are sending me in an ambulance to Stanford medical center to get looked at and possibly have my gallbladder removed. If it must be done I am glad they are sending me to the best.

Oh my gosh! Sending T&P your way. Please keep us posted!

That's great!! T&P's for a great outcome for you!!! ------------------------------- My random is that I finally started back to work yesterday since I'm officially off of bedrest and back to the real world. I was so pumped to go back, but my bladder definitely wasn't prepared for having to wait to go pee between classes!! This is going to be tough, lol!!
I'm joining the slept-like-crap crowd. We have an ultrasound this afternoon and I could NOT fall asleep last night and kept waking up over and over ugh. So sleepy. At least I still don't have students today.
Today is just going to drag waiting to see munchkin this afternoon!
I have my 16 week checkup this afternoon. I'm nervous about meeting with the diabetes Dr bexause my sugar levels have been all over the place. Crossing my fingers no insulin. The thought of giving myself insulin shots kinda freaks me out.
Also, i was driving my son to school this morning and this random man was walking down the street holding a bat. With the eclipse still going on, it was a little bit creepy. There are definitely a few crazies in this neighborhood
AFM: I have an 18 week check-up next week and I should be able to schedule my a/s ultrasound, usually I can get an appointment within a day or two, I am excited to see LO next week! I've been sleeping so much better since I got my pregnancy pillow, but last night there were crazy thunderstorms that kept waking me up
@djoliet fingers crossed. Hopefully No insulin. I used to have to give my Mother in law hers and it was a pain.
@RQuinlin and @meowkitten good luck with your ultrasounds. I had one scheduled for today but hopefully at the hospital later they will let me get a peek since they need another u/s of my gall bladder anyway. I did briefly get to see the babies wiggling earlier in the ER and that was nice after not holding down food for three days.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers and success stories. I am at peace with surgery now and I know that the doctors will do everything needed to keep our babies safe. Apparently my limo (ambulance) is here and I am supposed to be making the 4 hour trip soon.
I just got back from my anatomy scan and everything looked great! There really is no better feeling in the world than seeing the baby and knowing everything is going well!
Good luck to all with appointments today! Hope all goes well for you @finallyyourturn2
I got some maternity shirts, a Snoogle, and C and I started setting up our registry. This baby is starting to feel more real now I know that sounds weird, but even at 18 (hell, almost 19) weeks I just don't really "feel" pregnant. I have some wicked pelvic girdle pain (will have to talk to my OB about that) but my body always hurts so that's not terribly new. I just feel fatter lol... But I'm glad I'm starting to feel like I'm becoming a new mom. I'm very much looking forward to feeling him move. That will hopefully help me feel more pregnant, too.
I took a half day at work yesterday and S and I went up north to Buy Buy Baby. I got to touch cloth diapers instead of just look at them online! I'm pretty set in my decision to CD now and I'm really excited about that.
It's not that cold today, but my miniature pinscher is in her sweater, curled up in my lap, under the heated fuzzy throw blanket. And she's trying to burrow into my belly. Min pin = drama queen.
I was supposed to nanny all day today, but one of the children (who was vaccinated) apparently has the chickenpox! My doctor had me come in for a blood test to check for CP antibodies to make sure I'm still immune - I had CP when I was 20. I have to wait for the test results before I can go back to babysitting (I thought that was overkill, but doc was very adamant about it). My sweet DH had the day off and is actually going to babysit for them for just a couple of hours in the afternoon while the mom is teaching. I'm taking advantage of the day to grade papers and catch up on schoolwork.
I got sad when I realized I missed the TTGP grad check in yesterday but I just went looking for it and apparently it wasn't posted. I wanted to see how everyone else was doing!
@katydid2014 It was posted yesterday. Maybe it's on pg 2?
I have a serious case of the don't wannas today. I have a paper I have been putting off writing since March, and I really need to write it now but I don't wanna! Ok whining over.
@Skrittens SO really wanted to see it, so we got up. Turns out, he didn't look at the time right and we got up an hour before it was supposed to start. I got to see the beginning of it but I was so tired that I went back to bed. He didn't set another alarm and woke up too late to see the full eclipse. Either way, it was cool!
@finallyourturn2 T&P for your surgery! Fx everything goes smoothly!
I'm meeting my dad for lunch today. I'm 19 weeks and some, and still haven't told him. I'm not sure how he'll react but he's basically got 2 choices.. be there or don't be. Hopefully he'll be excited about having a grandson!
I will hit 20 weeks on Monday and still nothing. I really am excited for this part of the pregnancy and I am getting impatient.
I'm feeling the same way. I might have felt the baby, but I'm just not sure and it's certainly not frequent! The only thing I have frequently are RLP twinges on my left side. Pretty sure it's not baby because they are sharp, not soft or popcorn like.
I have no other reason to think anything is wrong, but it's got me scared a couple of days before my A/S... Come on baby! Give me an obvious kick, please!

I have an anterior placenta this time so I didn't feel this baby until right before I hit twenty weeks, and it wasn't a flutter it was a take my breath away attack from inside lol I literally cried out in surprise. I find if I push my stomach muscles out she will move, maybe try that and cold milk or sugary snack? Don't stress, soon enough you'll be begging for mercy;)

Did anyone see the eclipse? It was cloudy here and I didn't feel like going outside in my PJs so I missed it. There will be two more this year though!

Good luck at your A/S today! Bring back pictures for us!
@Skrittens I completely missed the eclipse.
