@megsw85 do you plan on using the sewing table for actual sewing? When you say old school I'm not sure whether it is an older model or if it is really, really old and looks like a more decorative piece (foot pedal, cast iron base). I have an antique Singer that I refinished the wood (sanded and stained) and then had a piece of glass cut and fitted for the opening so I could keep the machine part folded into the table, but still see the details through the table top. Then I lined the drawers and when we have parties this table is our bar, I pull out the middle tray and fill it with olives, limes and lemons and then the side drawers with stirrers, toothpicks and napkins. It turned out to be an incredibly adorable piece of furniture that we keep in our dining room. But this is obviously only if you don't plan on actually sewing with it!

If you plan on sewing make curtains and matching throw pillow cases. It's basically hemming big squares and will make you look fancy
