It feels like a Friday because the kids don't have school tomorrow. But H is staying home with them so I still have to go to work. Trying to keep that in mind while I drink my Red Velvet Cupcake wine
Wow, I've been laying in bed for a good 15 mins now and it just now registered that the spongebob movie is on tv and I've been watching it. It is def time for a shower and bed!
D is terrified of dogs. Today he was playing with a snoopy stuffed animal when all of a sudden it dawned on him that snoopy was a dog. He screamed and ran away so fast and hid behind my legs. He calmed down when I hid snoopy. What the hell do I do about this?
I would say leave it alone. It's a good instinct for a kid. Make sure that if you see a dog you are sweet and excited and not at all nervous and he will follow your lead. Make barking fun? Not all kids are into dogs, it's nbd

This is where my Filipino brother in law would say something really funny and inappropriate about Asians and dogs. You know he loves my sister because she has a dog and and he walks it even though "my family no joke would treat this like dinner." But yeah, just ignore it. And if you have a doggie in the neighborhood go on walks and bring carrots or something so when you see the dog you can be friendly with him (after talking with the owner first). G was afraid of dogs but grew out if it. A friendly lab down the block that loved carrots and was really gentle with G helped that process. I've been drinking, excuse my ramblings.
Not to rehash something from 15 pages ago, but the ice water bucket challenge thing is now all over my newsfeed, but with celebrities and athletes. I've only seen one that held up a check, put it in an envelope, and explained why it was happening.
My news feed has it popping up too. Only heard one person say they are donating and have watched about 10.

Donations are up 6000% though over last year! We all know the kid who started it though so everyone did it and donated in my circle. Overall it's a bucket of ice and it's August and it doesn't hurt anyone so I don't see what all the negativity is about.
Two things: 1- what ever happened to BabyCarter? 2- @WorkinIt every day I wonder what happened a few weeks (months?) ago. I worry and I need to focus my worry on something specific. If you don't want to say, don't sweat it. Just know that I vaguely worry about you.
I was thinking about her too. And Jan and that jingleschic was her name I think...
I don't wanna throw their lives out all over the place here, but according to Facebook all is well with them.

I hope I didn't sound negative. I just didn't know what people were talking about earlier this week then it came up on my news feed. I kept looking for a link in news feed where people could donate, no one has it and only one person stated they were donating. eta: I'm glad it's raising awareness and people are having fun, but I think the awareness aspect may pass by some people who are unsure what the video is about and don't google.
School hasn't even started yet and I've already arranged my substitute for the 3 days I know I'll be out this fall. ...I have no clue what I'm going to do about a maternity sub, but those 3 days are set!
@melOHdy I sometimes leave work early and meet DH for a run, before pick up and he leaves for work. We also have the jogging stroller and we currently have a roommate, she leaves in a week though.
WTF am I supposed to do with someone who posted "poss interested" on a buy sell trade site with no follow up message or question?
Ignore it, more than likely they are doing it so they can follow it. I find that those people are the ones that always fall through on actually buying stuff.
Those of you running with your SO; who is watching your kids?
We've only run together twice since having kids, and both times were when we were with my family all staying at a vacation house, so a bunch of other relatives were watching them. No way I'm paying for a sitter for the disaster that is a run with DH.
My iPhone has been resurrected!! The toilet didn't kill it!
So relieved right now
I don't want to bring bad news, but my brother works for apple and he always tells people to make sure everything is 100% backed up if their phone gets wet. I guess even if it seems fine, a lot of them end up damaged inside and dying within the next 2 weeks. I really hope it isn't true for you, but would hate for you to lose important stuff if it happens.
H is home with both kids today, it was a nightmare trying to leave. Both were hanging on my legs and whining. I hope they get better for him, but a tiny part of me wants today to be tough so he can see what it's like when he travels...
Carbon Minoxide alarm went off this morning. Continued to go off when taken outside. Called 311 (Chicago information line) who transferred me to 911. 911 said I needed to have fire-people come check out the condo and make sure no leaks. They got 0 readings everywhere: by furnace, by washer/dryer, by stove. They said the alarm malfunctioned and to get a new one. DH is pissed at me about the fire-people.
I'm glad you called and they came and checked it out. Carbon monoxide is very serious since it's odorless and colorless. I worked for a home security system before having Grayson and so I heard lots of horror stories about people ignoring their carbon monoxide detectors. It's better to be safe then sorry.
I just read that the cops have joined the protests in Ferguson and things are looking way better for humanity. For a few days there I was really upset about what was happening there and couldn't believe it was happening in the US. So when I read the better news I started crying. My tears trigger is so weak since popping out these kids.
I was supposed to go to a local Wine Crawl with a friend tonight. She lives around the corner. So, she is in the same boat as me as far as trying to sanitize and put her house back together. Now neither of us have the extra cash or time really. Probably better since I need to find time for a long run tomorrow. I don't want it to be "crappy" andplusalso I haven't run at all this week. So, it's already going to be rough. Thanks for letting me come here and whine. I promise to be chipper again.

Wait why? You totally did the right thing! That's exactly why you have the alarm.

Last night was definitely more peaceful. I was unsure when it would ever get better. A big step was demilatarizing the police. I did read a couple stories of violence on Twitter that didn't seem to make the newspapers this morning.
They are announcing the name of the officer that shot Michael Brown in fifteen minutes. Not sure what will come from that. I know many of the protesters have been asking them to release the name, but once they do, what are they going to do with it?
I don't think they should release his name. All that will result is vigilante justice and chaos. I am also worried this guy's family and friends will be targeted as well.
I'd feel differently if the whole community had kept their shit together and not looted and destroyed business.
While generally I don't really see the good in releasing a name, I feel like if they are going to make public those who were arrested for looting, they should make public those who were found of wrong doing on the police department's side. The protests were by in large peaceful and the looters were a small minority if bad apples (right?). Just like I believe the vast majority of the police officers are probably good cops and the person that shot him may just be a bad apple. I'd like to have enough faith in people that they could handle knowing his name. Also this should be a lesson to every town and police department. If you hear about protests happening that do not have anything violent going on, try not to show up in full riot gear. Nothing gets the media or protesters more riled up than that. Dumb move on their part.
Re: Quit playin games with my SPAM
Preseason should be saved for the sports channels. I love football, but preseason?

Another great movie with him is The Mechanic
