I find it hard to click with other moms when they don't have the same parenting philosophy as me. Going to these mom groups sometimes I feel alone. I just want to be there for the LO to play and interact. It's great everyone has a different style but it's difficult to talk about stuff when your not on the same page.

I take DD to a parenting group on Monday s were I just don't really click with any of the other moms I feel akward the entire time but she seems to like it so I keep going. On Wednesday s we go to baby gym class and I feel much more comfortable there with those moms for some reason.

This is the reason I have yet to join any baby groups. I quite terrified of awkward mommy talk I'm not really interested in having. I have many friends who are moms that I don't see enough of...I figure I'll work at getting together for mom dates with them and join classes for wee one when she's a bit older and will appreciate the other babes (I'm thinking the 6-8 month timeframe).
I've finally found a mums group locally. They are meeting tomorrow morning and I'm forcing myself out of my introvert comfort zone. I'm quite nervous about it though
    How'd it go?

Just started one today too. It went well. I left dd in childcare so that was the hardest part. I was told she did well. If the baby cries for 10 minutes they come get you and no one got me. She even took a bottle...they said she fed herself...wth? I'm impressed if she did and a bit unnerved that they left her alone with it. I really hope they didn't prop it up for her. Certainly wasn't a paced feeding if she was in control.

It didn't go great. It was at a church and it started with a prayer and bible verse. I'm an atheist and was told it wasn't a church group even though it was held at the hall. We went to a library babies program this afternoon, that was way more our speed

Such a bummer that so many potentially social things in small towns are connected to the churches! I'm an atheist too, totally feel your situation there. At least the library group worked :)

I hate waking up to pump. Hate it.

I'm not even going there. I did that the first week he was born and wouldn't nurse. Never again. I don't pump enough during the day, so he gets supplements of formula. A compromise for my sanity.
I wake up at 5:30. Pump one boob. Shower. Nurse DD other boob. Go to work. It's not that bad but I hate giving up 20 min of sleep.

  • Found out today I have gall stones. Yay! Dr sent a referral to the surgeon it will probably be booked in the next two weeks. Not looking forward to that. But also I would never want to experience the pain I felt two days ago ever again either. Made child birth almost look like a breeze.. (Almost)

  • LO goes to Mother's Day Out once a week, and I get all emotional and weird about him having baby friends.

    Friends! That are other babies!!!

The footprint artwork is too much for me to handle. Those that are my friends on Instagram- sorry.

    Kind of.
  • @comicsans‌ baby library time is definitely worth a try. Ours does stories and songs and at the end lays out a lot of toys for the babies to play with. I love the idea of church and the community it forms but after a lot of soul searching, I'm just not a believer and I think it would be wrong to fake it just to make a few mum connections.

LO woke up just before 6 this morning, so I brought him into bed with me to see if I could get another small stretch out of him. He sleep until almost 8 am!
I did that last weekend!  It was the best! Nice job!
  • Please. make. it. stop.  Some guy in the cube next to mine is humming/singing... and it's not pretty.  I just need to leave.
Ha!  My husband was complaining of this today too.  He actually did come home early.

  • So having food poisoning, being dehydrated and not eating for 2 days officially killed my already low supply. On the bright side, I'm 6 pounds closer to pre-pregnancy weight.

DH bought Coke in glass bottles because he thought they were cool.

We don't have a bottle opener, so I spent 20 minutes trying to bust the top off this morning. Never happened. So irritated. Told him never again. Don't withhold caffeine from a very sleep deprived mother.

No bottle opener?! DH probably has one stashed in each room of the house so he doesn't have to get up to open his beer. Also check the back of your can opener!
  • Even though I ok'd DH going golfing today I'm still pissy that he's going. It's 5 hours on this gorgeous weekend day that you could have spent with the family. Also we are doing DD pictures today (why would you want to miss that?!) and we have a guest tonight so I'm stuck cleaning up the messy house while watching baby. Guess I should have asked him not to if it were going to bother me so much. Or I just need to plan my own fun outings so I'm not jealous. He's an awesome daddy and deserves a golf day.. But still. Is this irrational?
  • For DD's 3rd bday she's getting a play kitchen. I'm buying small containers of stuff to put them in the play fridge when they're empty.

I went to buy a small Ben and Jerry's today but only saw the big containers. So I bought that. When I got it home I saw the container had a hole in it...guess I'll just have to buy another next week!

  • More of a question than a thought, but has anyone else been really mucus-y since having LO? I don't ever remember having as much vaginal mucus as I do now, almost like I'm losing my mucus plug again. It seems to happen more in the middle/end of my cycle so I assume it is a hormone thing.  I've been off birth control since I had DS2 but I was off birth control pills for a while when I had DS1 but don't remember this.

    It's so gross.

  • 1. L rolled over back to front and then onto her back, a 360 degree roll. First roll without coaxing from me. Excited by her progress, but so sad for this abrupt end to swaddling/good sleep.

    2. She has been drooling buckets for weeks and gnawing on anything she can, but I figured real teething was a ways away (she'll be 4 months next week). Nope. This evening she was pulling off the boob and the bottle, screaming inconsolably. For hours. And, I feel ridges and one especially poky tooth under the skin on the bottom. Hurts my heart to hear her so unhappy and be unable to fix it. It's so unlike my perpetually happy gurgly little girl (I feel like that should be a FFFC? I usually feel so lucky).

    3. MH was supposed to take care of LO today so I could get some work done. But every time I tried to turn her over to him, he was "in the middle of something". And then he'd *finally* finish and offer to take her...10 minutes before she was ready to eat again (I'm the only one who can feed her). The kicker? He tells me he's been "willing to take her for the whole day."

So I got hardly any work done today, and will likely be zombie mama tomorrow (see: 1 and 2 above) and will still have to try again to get the work done. Some days are just hard. That is all.
  • LO had a bad cold this week and the stomach flu as of yesterday. Has projectile vomited 3 times today and had diarrhea 3 times. We are off to urgent care in a few hours he's sleeping now. I've never felt worse in my life for someone. He hasn't cried once but I couldn't even get the bottle in his mouth for a sip of pedialite and he threw up everywhere again. I don't even know where he got sick!

Dear DD - I think it's awesome that you have learned to roll over and lifting your head up really well considering how little tummy time you had.  However, you got so little tummy time because you screamed your little head of anytime you were on your belly.  Guess what, you do the same when you roll over.  Could you do your Mommy a favor and wait a little between rolls.  This game of rolling over, crying after a minute or two, Mommy rescuing you only for you to immediately rolling over again and repeating is starting to getting old.  Still proud of you..

DS just rolled back to front for the first time this afternoon. He also hates being on his tummy and cries after a few minutes. Instead of celebrating this mini milestone, i thought dame it.

God, this is exactly what happens on days I work from home. And DH wonders why I'm not getting my dissertation done!
@Lissiehoya‌ , so sorry you're dealing with that too. Mine's only a research presentation. I can't imagine trying to dissertate with a new baby -- I had a miserable enough time finishing my dissertation pre-kid.

I had a talk with MH tonight and we agreed either I'll leave to get work done or he'll take LO out next time. Here's hoping you can get out of the house and get sone actual work-time for yourself. GL to you!
  • @MK1013 I've had some freaky dreams too, glad to see that even though I'm not here all the time I'm not the only one experiencing the craziness.

  • I can't get the smell of baby poop out of my nose this morning.  I keep washing my hands, checking my shirt and clothes   I've had two meetings this morning and kept thinking, oh god, what if I actually have poo in my hair or something.
Also, formula poop smells... so... bad.    Not that LO smelled like roses before, but still.  It's green and so so smelly.  I thought DH was gonna lose it yesterday and I was laughing so hard.  I do get less poosplosions now but I do miss the 'golden' days of 100% BM poo.

I told my husband yesterday that I kind of get why people BF until kids are old. This is the longest I have BF one of mine, and I'm so pleased with the stinkless diapers and the sweet baby breath.

I do NOT love only being able to drink occasionally and having to time it right and make sure I have a bottle for the next feeding and feeling like a farm animal, however......

I curled my hair and DTD this morning (not in that order) and still made it into the office on time. I feel like I should get a freakin award.

    Dude. You should.
  • 1) @Katzalia, I'm trying to go to campus consistently on Mondays and Wednesdays when I have meetings so hopefully that will help.

    2) Pumping at work sucks.

    3) Has anyone had these "cotton candy" grapes? I got them from the store last weekend and they're so freaky because they actually do taste like cotton candy.

Literally on my way to Market Street to buy some.
  • 3 gold stars = 1 morning romp

That's good incentive for any husband.

She should! Every time I see your LO's name Im overjoyed. Its such a beautiful boys name. But then again my brother is an Eoin.

Aw thanks, we love his name and it's not changing so she better get used to it quick. She asked just after he was born if I've had made it up.
  • 1. Cotton candy grapes??!! Where?
    2. Re: pumping at work: my office walls don't reach the ceiling. Staff and customers can hear it I'm sure.  Idgaf
    3. I just looked through old photos of myself. BAD idea. I need to lose weight but have zero ambition to do so, so now I'm just mopey.
