How do you get food stains out of LOs clothes and bibs???
I mostly am upset about a shirt that got fresh banana all over it and did not come out in the wash. Tried up & up stain remover, did not help. Thanks!
I use plastic bibs so they don't stain. If food gets on clothes I hand wash the spot right away with dishwashing liquid to break up the food. Works on poop too. Recently, I saw on Pinterest that said that dial bar soap gets out baby food and poop stains. I have not tried it for myself though.
@colieann31 we made a similar decision when G was born and I don't regret it for a minute. You learn to make due with what you have money wise and it all works out. You never get this time with your itty bitty baby back so if you want to be with your baby and your family can make that work then you should definitely do that! Oh and with first time moms I feel like employers presume they have a 50% chance of the mom really returning. I have too many friends change their mind at the last minute and I know it's pretty common. They will understand!

FFWC: I don't even attempt to get stains out. Most of Lo's clothes are from G and they still even have his stains on them. I have a few shirts and sweaters I throw on over whatever grungy looking thing he is wearing if we are seeing other people or I'm taking his picture. BUT if it's something of mine or DH's soaking in Oxiclean before washing works wonders!
Anyone cook zucchini for LO (or themselves)? I bought a zucchini but am clueless about what to do with it. I think I would like to make half into a purée and half into a finger food (DD will refuse some foods and a finger food but then love them as a purée, diva). I'll just steam it for the purée, but for finger food can I sauté it? Roast it?

roast it, slice thinly and brush with evoo and balsamic vinegar.

I use zucchini in everything because I'm Italian. I often slice into half circles and sautee in olive oil with salt and pepper. You can also use raw sticks of it and dip like carrots in hummus or another kind of veggie dip. I make at least one quiche for quick breakfasts and I often chop up zucchini and onion and bake it with feta, egg and milk. You can also shred it fine and mix with a little egg and breadcrumbs and make zuccini pancakes (you can also add grated parm to that if you guys like the taste of parm). And finally I sometimes slice zucchini in long strips and grill them along with eggplant (in light olive oil and salt and pepper again) and use them either as grilled veggie sides or layer with mozz & parm, sauce and seasoned breadcrumbs and bake until bubble for a quick veggie parm casserole.
Lo has had them steamed and pureed so far, but that is only because he doesn't eat much finger food yet. I'm sure any foodie baby would love zucchini pancakes!
@subliminalrabbit Was it a rectal temp? Did he feel cool? That's so strange! New babies can get low temps from infection but its not that common in older ones. I'd take him to the Pedi and have him checked out. Poor guy!
I gave LO zucchini the other night I made spears specifically for him with the skin cut off. I just sautéed it until soft with olive oil. He loved it but it was kinda slippery for him to grab off his tray.
I just read this travel tip and wanted to share because it is brilliant. When traveling internationally have a Starbucks card and prior to leaving the country load any unused currency onto the card for later use! This is so much smarter than buying random crap at the airport, which is my current method (I hate paying currency conversion fees).
R is having issues with eating finger food/adult food. He ends up pocketing it in his cheek and I have to do a finger sweep to get it out. Needless to say we are sticking with purées for now. How much should he be eating? Right now he is having 2 - 2 1/2 tablespoons of cereal for breakfast and dinner with half a container of stage 2 fruits or veggies with both. Lunch is half a container of protein and half a container of veggies. He usually has 20-24 oz of formula to go along with it. DH doesn't think he is eating enough.
@silverEF if he isn't gagging or choking I would keep trying, eventually he will figure out to swallow it. Your amounts sound similar to what DD is eating but I think I'm going to start offering more. For some variety you could introduce yogurt instread of the cereal for breakfast or dinner.

They didn't understand. My manager is mad at me now and I just don't get it. She has kids herself so she should understand on some level.

For his puree, we steamed it. We have only done one with zucchini so far; it was apples, zucchini, squash, and cheddar cheese. We haven't done it as a finger food yet.
For ourselves, my husband sautes it (along with squash) with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Sooooo good!
@colieann31 that sucks! But they will get over it. And honestly I think working moms who have decided to go back to work full time can be the hardest on new moms who decide differently. It's terrible but I think it may be a little bit of projection on making different life choices yourself. I had a friend who had a boss who was also a mother who was very, "if I can make this all work you better be able to too" mentality. I like having a boss who is a father- they are much more terrified to judge or question a new mom's motives because they don't fully understand but have witnessed the mommy emotional struggles firsthand! This is obviously a generalization and there are some wonderful female bosses and some terrible male bosses for working moms.
At least that's over with. Quitting a job for me is like breaking up with a boyfriend. I used to have to write out flash cards and practice so I could get through it without crying and sweating.
@riansmommie sorry I just saw your post... It's funny how names can stick with kids, DH said LO had turtle lips when he was born and he's been turtle ever since, or turtlepuss if he's being a sourpuss

It's a lot of work for her to have to find someone new all over again so quickly and probably doesn't reflect great on her that it didn't work out. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do what's best for you and your family, but it's not surprising she'd be irked about having extra work to do now.

She's just mad because she will need to find someone good enough to fill your shoes. She is not trying to understand your personal situation. Hopefully it will end well when you leave.
For those who feed your LO yogurt, what kind of yogurt are you feeding? Plain or fruit flavored? Regular or greek? What brand? I would like to have some more variety in LO's meals and plan to pick up yogurt on my next grocery trip.
As a teacher, this drives me nuts. She did everything she should have. If she had been in a bathroom with kids to supervise, she also would have gotten in trouble. I am so much more concerned about the family life of these kids. Why do 2 five year olds know so much about what sex is and how it's done?
@psnls I haven't started with DS2 yet, but with DS1 I did a plain 2% greek yogurt and mixed in a little pureed fruit. I liked that greek had more protein and didn't want the added sugar. My brand won't help since I'm in Canada!

I just saw two shady old women get into their car at target and the woman driving away had a newborn in her arms. I took down her plate number but have no idea what to do with it.
Was the baby in a car seat? If not, call the cops!!

Regular plain yogurt (6% fat). At first I mixed it with some fruit puree, but now she eats it plain. Astro brand (Canadian)
@psnls we do vanilla, blueberry or apple YoBabys now. We tried plain yogurt (hated it) we tried plain greek yogurt (hated it) and then we tried mixing some fruit in and he tolerated it more but wasn't really into it. Once we added the sugary flavoring he starts to get all excited when he sees the yobaby container coming towards him and starts going "mmmm!"
Did I mention my baby is fat and always constipated?
Here is how excited he gets when he eats Yobaby though so it's hard for me to not want to see this happy yogurt smile!
I called the cops, I'm so sick over this! I wanted to follow but I was properly fastening Ella in her car seat. My mom instinct tells me something wasn't right.
Follow your instincts! Call the police and tell them what you saw. Describe the car, the women and the baby as much as you can. You may also want to call target and find out if there was anything that happened around the time you were there. That sounds crazy!
"Thanks to an inspiring friend I've done it...eliminated the biggest excuse for not exercising...having a kid. Mornings with Malcolm now include an exercise video, and he even helps me by getting on my back for the pushups! Get rid of excuses people!"
I want to reach through the computer screen and strangle her!! She has one kid who is 2 1/2, in daycare 3 days a week a. nd has a flexible schedule as a student. Don't judge my workout schedule! Feeling judged for no good reason and actually less motivated to go to the gym tonight. I know she means well, but STFU!

In 2 years I can eliminate that excuse for one whole week, post that, then slowly go back to sleeping in the morning! Your friend sounds like me.
Something's wrong with this picture. I get online to order some VS bathing suits for vacation to motivate me to workout. Then I walked over to the freezer to help me deal with these insane bodies!
@wasnotwas the dispatcher said she would put it out to the cops on patrol. So, probably nothing. I walked past as they were getting in to the car and made eye contact, then I stood behind my car and watched her get in the front seat with the baby, and drive off 5 seconds later. I wish I was 10 seconds faster, I wanted to follow her so bad!!!!
That is seriously disturbing. WTF is wrong with people?

This. Greek with puréed fruit in it.
