@melohdy I got a very guilty vibe, I was thinking that. I could be overthinking, but regardless that baby needed to be in a car seat.
good thing you went with your gut, you never know. We had someone call once about a 2 year old not in a car seat and upon investigating it turned out the mother had gone on a crack binge and some random person was looking after the child and there was no car seat at all.
Are we going to have a thread about birthday party themes every week until June? Am I the only one that just doesn't care?
So far my theme is how am I going to invite everyone I want to without destroying our house and/or going broke. We are close with a lot of our family and have many friends who have invited us to their LOs birthday parties.

DH's cousin had a hot chocolate and treats themed winter thing. There was a ton of people there, but it was an afternoon drop in thing with a few munchies and cupcakes. It was a good idea. eta-this was obviously in December, something similar in a summer theme would be good.
I am with you all on the not wanting to figure it out yet, it means that William will be 1, and I will be back to work. I really do not want to rush these next few months.
For those who feed your LO yogurt, what kind of yogurt are you feeding? Plain or fruit flavored? Regular or greek? What brand? I would like to have some more variety in LO's meals and plan to pick up yogurt on my next grocery trip.
Plain Stonyfield organic whole milk yogurt. We often mix it with freshly puréed fruit or one of his other purees.
@araziza@melOHdy
I found the open letter on parenting pretty quickly, then the response to N14 on N13, but it took me a bit to figure out what N13 did on N14 that caused offense.
I hope I typed that out right. :-/
the 23 page thread on N14 is too much. Ridiculous really, N14 seemed to ignore it for the most part.
Was lurking on May and realized my birthday is Mother's Day this year (someone was talking about their LO's birthday being Mother's Day). I don't usually do much for my birthday anyways so it's NBD, but thought it was interesting.
Basically N13 went on N14 and made a sticky thread of "fun things you need to know on the bump" which was offensively gif-filled and honestly a little condescending. Well a Parenting reg is TTC and was scoping her potential future BMB and asked them to shut it down and they lost it...accused her of making light of loss and other bs, cue the page to Parenting and major butthurt...hilarity ensued

your first mother's day and your birthday, I think the celebrations should last at least a week. We should also plan a get together for said week and eat a ton of cake!
We have a mouse (mice?) in our house. We set a trap a few months ago after I found some droppings and we caught a chipmunk then a mouse last week, aaaand I found mouse droppings in my kitchen yesterday. It's pretty awesome.
@subliminalrabbit, I feel as women we are expected to keep everything together and "handle" everything that is thrown at us. You need to sit your DH down and get him to see everything that you do. There is no down time or alone time for you anymore and these are things that we need to recharge and feel good. I always use the analogy of a glass and a pitcher of water. You are the glass and the pitcher of water is everything else. If the pitcher keeps poring into the glass and the glass does not get a chance to empty out then the glass is going to overflow because it can not handle everything that is pouring into it. Anyway, I will not bore anyone with anymore social worky stuff, but hugs to you. I do hope you can get a break SOON!
@tttwalters you said it perfectly. @subliminalrabbit We all need time to recharge our batteries. You are literally running on empty if you're up all night and your little is sick. Your husband needs to see that and respect it. And as for losing it? If it took you this long you're some kind of saint. I "lost it" after her 2 month shots. Hubby was gone, lo was screaming and wouldn't sleep. I couldn't do anything to make her happy. I put her in her crib and walked away to clear my head. Stepped outside and opened a beer and just sat in silence for 5 minutes. (With the baby monitor muted so I could see her). And then I went back in and started over. I'm not proud. I'm embarrassed that I felt I needed to do that. But I also knew my breaking point. And I had reached it at that time.
I hope you find a way to communicate with your H that you need and deserve a break.
Never be embarrassed for the way you handled that situation! I have seen way to many babies with shaken baby syndrome because a parent was not able to do what you did. I tell parents to do exactly what you did, put baby in crib and walk away. Over the past 8 months I have had to do that a few times and that is what makes you a good mom. You aren't yelling at your baby, you aren't hurting them. You are taking yourself out of the situation and leaving them in a safe place. I think more moms like you need to share there stories so that we feel ok with our decision to walk away for a few minutes.
@tttwalters Thanks love. DD2 had some sort of stomach thing yesterday so she spent all day in and out of the bathroom and miserable. DS is fighting a cold so he was miserable all day. And, my cold from Tuesday added a fever to the mix. So, I was trying to take care of them with a 103 fever myself. Not the most fun I've ever had. Today, DD2 is eating toast and my fever finally broke last night. DS is still blowing snot bubbles with his nose and didn't really sleep last night. But, I think I have a better chance of surviving today. Hopefully, naps are in our future so I can catch up on all the words.
Sorry your having such a rough time @subliminalrabbit. When gray is so worked up sometimes holding him doesn't even help. I always want to comfort him but sometimes space is better. I will admit there have been many times I have just walked away and turned the sound off on the monitor. It's really easy to feel helpless, and that's really frustrating. Hope E feels better soon.
@subliminalrabbit I'm so sorry about E being sick and DH. Can DH go to Starbucks or some place for a few hours to get work done? I know that doesn't help with E but at least he isn't driving you crazy.
Props to all the Mama's working on balance! It is hard but so important!!
I just had to walk out of Wal-Mart because LO was having a meltdown. I know my husband will ask why I didn't buy all the stuff we needed from there so I was thinking of handing him M and a list! He can enjoy the experience himself!
I just pm bump Jackie with my 3 top user name changes right??
I meant to tell you earlier, sorry! You email community@thebump.com. Tell them why you are wanting to change your SN (security purposes, it contains your name, whatev) and give them your top 3 choices
Back to the pediatrician to try and figure out the source of E's hypothermia...
@subliminalrabbit I really hope you get some answers! Or at least maybe a blood draw to lead to some answers. You seriously need to catch a break. Did we decide hugs are given too much around here? I don't remember what the consensus was - but you need some Doctor/Amy Pond love here.
So, I just found out that H's work got suite tickets for a group of them to a hockey game. I have to dress "nice", which means I need to go shopping since I own nothing. Seriously nothing. I have a few pairs of yoga pants and one pair of jeans that I rotate. I'm sort of excited to have something to do that involves me actually getting cute. Plus, H and I haven't had a legit date night since our anniversary in September.

Go Red Wings!
@pitchslap I you! I'm actually stoked because somehow I've never been to a wings game.
Also, I just got back from the grocery store. The lady in front of my only bought 20 containers of sardines. WTF? Now I just want to KNOW what the hell does anyone need 20 things of sardines for?????
I need answers!
I have no idea, but my first thought was she is a crazy cat lady an she bought "treats" for all the pressush kit-tays!
@pitchslap We will take any cheering you want to give Plus, didn't you say you lived in Michigan for a while? We take our sports pretty seriously in the D. Except for the Lions. Nobody takes them seriously.
@pitchslap I can't get it up for the Lions. I mean it could be because I could give a crap less about football. But, I love me some Tigers. We used to go to more games before we added the 2nd, and now 3rd, baby. Harder to get a sitter, and it's expensive. But, fun!
