@dani+california yeah and that amount is including the fact that we had been paying $400/mo for health care. Our insurance covered about $300 total. Assholes.
Well after 19 hours of labor I have an outside baby!! Olivia Grace was born at 11:06 tonight. She swallowed some meconium so she was monitored right away. We both ended up with a fever and she had trouble breathing but we're ok now. Struggling with latch issues but the lc said that's probably due to the trama of a long delivery and will get better. I'll post a birth story with pics tomorrow.
LO won't sleep in her crib. In fact, she won't sleep pretty much at all unless I'm holding her. I teach safe sleep guidelines as part of my job and me dozing with her on my chest is certainly not within the realm of "safe". I feel like a bad mom and a big hypocrite for not being able to figure this out.

It's all about survival right now! You are NOT a bad mom. This is only a phase and it will pass!

Ugh money. We just filled out a bunch of paperwork for short term disability for when DH goes for his surgery.... Can't hand it in until AFTER the surgery and his doctor signs off on everything. By the time everything is sorted out he'll already be back to work!!! The idea was that we wouldn't have to go without 2 pay cheques..... Not wait a month and then get his disability once he's back to work. How does that make sense?! Silly HR.
Yay, I caught up on all these posts! Now if only I could catch up on sleep. First night in the hospital and our little girl won't sleep more than five minutes since I've been trying to go to bed. So this is what having a baby is like... Meanwhile SO is sound asleep, how does he do that? Haha.
Big hugs to those that need them and congrats everyone that had their baby. And everyone who didn't have their baby yet, I hope you all get a nice dramatic water breaking.
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
Whoa, now! Has anyone seen this gem of a woman over on Nov. '14? Planning an unassisted home birth (meaning no midwife or other medical professionals present) and had this to say in her defense:
"How I choose to birth doesn't make me any better or less than you! I'm not criticizing anyone's decision to have an old, boring, traditional hospital birth...or to get an epidural because their not strong enough to handle the pain..."
@deidremaria i feel the same way ....clearly toddy is NOT going to be baby's birthday!
TP also to MIL who woke me up at 5:45 with a group picture message of her dog. I clearly had to group reply back that people are still asleep. It wasn't even 6 am. She's grating on my last nerves.

Thanks, I hope you're right about it being a phase. I think I've been crying more than my newborn has.
Hi ladies! Looks like it was a busy day yesterday- congrats to all the other mamas! We are hanging in there, but I haven't slept yet. Hoping to catch a few zzzz's soon. Have a great day everyone!
The idea that I may go a week later I can deal with. But two weeks? Come the fuck on man!!! Honestly now I'm glad my shower was at 38 weeks 6 days. If it was at say 28-32 weeks and I had gotten all my shit together early I'd go crazy. Waiting for this kid to come out.
I love my one coworker - she's done having kids, but she brings me all the handy little gadgets that helped her out and lets me borrow them so I don't have to buy them myself. She's already loaned me a winter coat, and now she's bringing me freezer solutions for breastfeeding. She even brought a few coupons in as well!
Now if this kid would just get here so I could put this stuff to use...
Thought I'd give a quick update. As of 4 am I was 6 cm but I haven't made any progress since so they started some pit. Still going strong without the epi and hoping I can hold off.
Thank you for all the support and kind words. Hopefully the next time I get on I'll be AWing Logan.

@janice9821 this was our night too! I never thought I would bed share but I just couldn't help it tonight he wasn't sleeping and I needed it. His pack and play wasn't cutting it, neither was the rock and play.. Nothing. I felt like the worst mom ever all night. This too shall pass right???
Working on 2 hours of sleep. Pregsominia and my poor pup isn't feeling well and all he wants to do is be near me. His stomach is so loud and if I stop petting him he cries. Rips out my heart...

Aw, I've been there. poor pup, hope he feels better soon. Is he throwing up or anything?
@macgrs No, ma'am, she is not! She made another post recently that was essentially "Are boy pregnancies different than girl pregnancies? HOW DOES I GUESS SEX OF BABY?!" and every single response was snark. It was wonderful.

What idiot gives birth with no medical assistance present? So reckless.
There was a couple in my Bradley class who was planning to do this exact thing. It was their first baby, and the mom couldn't have been more than 20... They had only gone to like 4 or 5 of the classes, and it later on ended up being just me and my husband in the class. Our instructor later let us know how dumb and risky she thought this was!!

My grandmother gave birth to my father at home, in her bed, unassisted..... In 1964..... In a small Village in Newfoundland where you needed to be like brought in by sled to a bigger village if you needed a doctor. I believe a midwife arrived shortly thereafter but still!! That's hardcore!
@janice9821 mine will sleep anywhere (crib, bassinet, swing) all day long but at night she'll only sleep for any decent period of time being held. It's so frustrating. I swore I wouldn't fall asleep holding her but sometimes I'm just so tired it has to happen. Don't feel bad, you're definitely not alone.
The girl said she was still planning on going to prenatal check ups, so it's likely she'll be talked out of such a stupid ass idea. I knew a girl who tried to have her baby in a cabin in the woods. Which ended up in three days of labor and a c section at a hospital. The idea that women were made to have babies is ridiculous. No species has evolved to the point where childbirth is completely free of complications and the ONLY reason there is such a low mortality rate is because of medical intervention. Not design.
Anyways, we went to Scalini's last night for that labor eggplant parm. I have 48 hours to get that $25 gift card and free t-shirt! H was expectantly staring at me when I opened my eyes this morning, apparently I was groaning in my sleep and he thought maybe I was having contractions. But I was actually having a dream that I was being chased by a baby dinosaur.

Do you have anything smaller she can sleep in? Like a pack-n-play bassinet or something? The crib may feel too big to her right now. My LO has just started napping in the crib during the day but he sleeps in a portable bassinet at night. We tried the crib originally when he was just a few days old, but he wouldn't calm down.
