Grabbed a blanket out of the closet, must have been overlooked for a wash. I'm wearing a black shirt and I stood up, it had Roxie (my dog that passed in November) hair all over it.. Seriously ugly cry just happened for the last half hour. Miss my girl
That's so hard, sorry about the sad reminder. My German shepherd passed years ago, but her crazy hair was all over the back of my old SUV and I could NOT get all of it out with a vacuum. When I sold the car last July, I was actually pathetically sad that I'd never see a part of her ever again. I feel your pain
It's the worst.. I just wasn't wen expecting that and boom like a wave of emotion. I can't believe I have her hair on me and she's been gone for so long. It's special ad really heartbreaking all at once.
September Siggy Challenge: What I Sing in the Shower: Little Mermaid "Part Of That World"
@aviola329 Yummm.. I think that would be motivation enough to get up and make it. We had Mexican food tonight too, but not enchiladas! That looks so. good.
It really was...I really wanna go get some more before I put the leftovers away, but I have a feeling I'd regret it in about a half hour.
It's one of my "hits" in a picky eater household LOL
It'll give you something to look forward to if you make yourself wait to eat them for lunch (or breakfast!) tomorrow. Are they easy to make? My oma makes enchiladas that I absolutely love, but they're only beef. I prefer chicken, so I might need your recipe!
SUPER easy I watched my FIL make them one night and decided to try it myself, no official receipe though. I do all things with minimal effort because usually this is one I whip up after work...I buy the thick mission tortillas, old el paso mild enchilada sauce (there's tons of options though so find one that works for you), the big pack of mexican blend shredded cheese, and usually just plain old canned chicken (though you could slow cooker it too and you could cook that with some of the enchilada sauce). Heat the oven to 350. I coat the tortillas in the sauce, spoon in the filling (for my picky eaters its just the chicken (coated in a little of the enchilada sauce) and cheese, but you could do olives, corn, etc), and roll up. When the pan's full I sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 20-25 mins. My family doesn't like too much sauce, but you could pour whatever sauce is left over on top before you add that final sprinkle of cheese. And the spanish rice I do is one of those 7 min Knorr packages, way simple, whole process takes maybe 30-40 mins. from assembly to eating....
Those sound super yummy!! I typically can't stand red enchilada sauce - for some reason it tastes like dirt to me - but the Hatch brand is SO GOOD.
I have a recipe for chicken enchiladas using a homemade roasted tomatillo salsa in place of the typical enchilada sauce, and the filling gets a little doctoring (it's basically a grocery store rotisserie chicken with some of the tomatillo salsa mixed into some chicken stock and a rue to thicken it up). It's a lot easier than you'd think, and it's DIVINE.
@pineconey Don't let them hear you cry!! If I was in your position I would be calling and of the first person didn't tell me what I wanted I'd ask to speak to a manager. The point is to make them cry!
But my DH always makes fun of me for swearing at the rep and being a total witch until I get what I want, so that might be the best advice....
While trying to get something out of the fridge earlier this evening, I accidentally hit my belly with the door. These are the dangers of pregnancy that no one warns you about!

I totally empathize with you. It's only been 4 days since we lost my fur baby boy. I need to clean up some carpet messes he left, and put his kennel away, but I already know I'm gonna bawl my eyes out, and I'm just not ready to put away all evidence of him yet. I still have his woobie (an old stuffed hippo squeaker toy that he ripped open and destroyed as a puppy, and continued to carry around the hollow shell of a body everywhere - totally his lovie!) on DHs dresser.
Why did I insist on going to see that house today even though I knew it was out of our price range? WHY? Now I can't stop thinking about it and all the other houses we saw are sucky by comparison! Ugh. We found another one that is comparable for a better price but it needs a lot of work. The one I love has a fantastic kitchen, finished basement and huge yard that backs right up to a park! Why did I torture myself this way! Sigh....

GAH! That's the worst. Cause of COURSE the perfect one is ALWAYS the one just out of reach. And will now become the basis of comparison for every other one you look at, while you continuously rehash your finances in your mind, hunting for some way that you can somehow make it work - even though the answer is always the same.
Though you could always look at it from the perspective that you can either A) buy the fixer upper and eventually end up putting more money into it causing you two ultimately spend more on it than had you just bought the move-in ready home in the first place, or get the perfect house and consider it a long term win since it doesn't need any work. Also keep in mind that home prices are negotiable. Put in an offer you know you can potentially eke out of you budget and see if they accept it. If not, then at least you tried, right?
Why are going home outfits a thing? To me it just seems like another thing to add to the list of baby stuff to worry about. Am I missing something by thinking it's not a big deal?

I didn't dress DD fancy. It was a warm sleeper set. I did keep it though. It's kinda neat to look back.
@BiggerinRealLife I think the going home outfit depends on your attitude about keepsakes. I delivered DS at a birth center, and we left 8 hours after he was born. I'm not sure I remember what he wore home. Maybe when I unpack the newborn clothes for his little brother I'll remember when I see it. Being "released" to go home wasn't a big deal in our situation but I can see how being released from a hospital stay would feel like a milestone to celebrate.
I wish I was due closer to the beginning of April. I just got super excited when I saw someone mention that they only had 6 weeks left, and then realized that I still have 8.

That sucks. I'm sorry!
Yeah. Why are decisions so hard! The fixer upper was a decent house with a newer roof but we would have to finish the basement, do a lot of work on the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen and the furnace is older. Plus it is located right on a pretty busy street which sucks for pulling out of the driveway during the day and for having little ones running around. But it has hardwood throughout, a decent yard and is quite a significant amount of money less than the "perfect" house. Oh, but the perfect house! Fabulous renovated kitchen with breakfast bar, new roof, new furnace, new A/C, finished basement with an awesome BAR, tons of storage, a work area in the basement for DH, quiet neighborhood, and an awesome deck in the yard that backs up to a huge park with a skating rink and playground! Alas, the list price is quite a bit higher than our max spending point.... I suppose we could make an offer closer to what we are willing to spend and see what they counter with... I knew this was going to happen. DH kept telling me not to get emotionally attached to it, but of course I did!

Hahaha I agree. There's no paparazzi on the way home that will make a planned out outfit worthwhile. My guy will be in a little hoodie and sweats.
Not drinking it, cooking with it or washing dishes/ utensils with it, but have been taking quick showers and washing my clothes and I feel nervous about it....along with the five million other things to be nervous about as a FTM.
WTH am I supposed to do about washing baby clothes and cloth diapers in the next few weeks? Does anyone have advice for successfully hand washing baby things?
@fourthnlast So sorry! Lots of thoughts and prayers to you and your family!
@pineconey Ugh that is incredibly stressful. You and DH will find your way, we always do. Just try to stay positive when you can, break down when you need to. You've got this girl! Get at that insurance company with a vengeance!
@sisimama10 Glad to hear that you're doing better!!! Thoughts still coming to you and baby to keep hanging on!
Feeling the love this morning and sending hugs to anyone else who needs one today!!!
We are trying to keep things normal for the kids and the biggest lesson I learned when my Dad died suddenly was that we all have to keep living. As much as we want to sit and cry and just stop everything, we can't. I'm doing my best to do that today and support the DH. We are meeting with the funeral home later this afternoon. Really not looking forward to being back there and planning another funeral with the anniversary of my Dad's death only weeks away. Ugh. Freaking emotions + pregnancy hormones = ugly cry first thing this morning.
@fourthnlast You're a strong woman! Good luck today! Keep on living for sure, but allow yourself time to grieve, too. A loss, especially sudden, is never easy. Thinking of you!
C-section mamas, did anyone try to do skin to skin right away? My ON said she would really fight to let me do it, but sometimes the hospital gets weird about it. If you didn't, did you have DH do it?
@poru 2 hours!?!? Where was your baby!? Was DH with you our baby. I'm starting to have serious anxiety about not seeing/touching my baby right away, and being without him for a while.
Just had an ackward moment with a coworker. Last week I had a mini meltdown with a different coworker about how I am more terrified about being a million miles away from my support system than I am afraid of labor. She was sweet about it and said how she hadn't thought about how we don't have friends or family here. So then a coworker I know a little better texts me today asking where we are registered. Without thinking I told her. But we've been buying stuff without taking it off the registry because we didn't think it was a big deal. So I explained that to her.
I just hope the both of them don't think I'm this selfish brat who was upset last week because no one threw me a shower. The coworker caught me on a bad day. I would've vented to anyone that day.
@lia619 sorry people are being such asses. hopefully your dissertation chair will be able to light a fire under their butts for you. On another note, I just noticed your siggy gif and its hilarious. love.
