Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • We were planning to have chicken tonight but forgot to move it from the freezer to the fridge last night. Well, DH threw the frozen chicken on the counter and it sat there for a few hours before I put it in the fridge.

It should still be okay right? I have been lectured many times by my mom about how horrible it is to defrost on the counter but it was only a couple hours and still pretty frozen by the time I put it in the fridge.

It'll be fine! It's chicken, you're going to thoroughly cook it anyway. Don't worry :)
  • Loading the player...
  • It is fine as long as it is still cold. Running cold water over it is a good way to defrost in a hurry.

Does Maxton sound like a made up name? Or Maxon/Maxen? With some of these baby name websites it's hard to tell.

I was wondering the same thing since Im also tossing this name around! I came across it somewhere but wasn't sure if it was considered "real." It seems more "real" than a lot of other names, IMO. I think it could pass as normal and not entirely made up.

  • My boyfriend fired up the grill! I fucking love the smell of charcoal burning and I think he's making his bomb ass chicken that I love so much. I think his cooking is what made me fall in love with him jk

No judgement, food is definitely me and hubs' love language.
  • I totally have piggy feet for the first time tonight. LOL.

  • Okay that's what I thought. I want something a little different/ not too popular but then again I don't want a made up name.

    Piggy feet?
I am guessing she means swollen? Because I totally called them ham-feet when I was pregnant with DD!

  • Also, OMG. I just looked at a picture of my feet from when I was pregnant with DD, the week before she was delivered. I oughtta slap the OB I was seeing at the time for not showing more concern than he did. My ankles had rolls. Holy crap. They looked atrocious.

It really was. Dear god... I know the swelling was bad, but looking back on it for the first time in a year and a half it just blew my mind. Worse than I remembered. So obvious that something wasn't right for being only 28 weeks. Glad I am sticking with a different OB this time... (Though I do have to see him for my 24 week check-up because my normal OB is off that week. Boo!)

I thought of my confession for next Friday and have forgotten it 3 times. Since I remember I'm posting it here... I hate the book Love you Forever. It creeps me out and that kid has mommy issues, and what kind of little old lady sneeks into her grown mans house and rocks him. Augh. Strange strange book.

Agree. I like the quote from it but the actual book itself is creepy seeing it from an adult perspective. As a kid I am sure I just found it amusing.

:-( I loved that story as a kid. Although when the kid got too big to pick up it got a little annoying for me. I read it to my fetus.
  • does anyone want to go to work for me in an hour?....being pregnant with a cold just sucks.

Tell me about it. I'm on my 2nd cold in two months it sucks so bad :(

At 28 weeks - that should have been an indication that you may be at risk. Oy. I remember my whole legs were like tree trunks not just my feet those last couple weeks. Plus I was super swollen for 2 weeks after (failed delivery and ECS). When I left the hospital, I couldn't fit into the pants I was wearing when I arrived at the hospital.
@poru That's the thing that gets me! It didn't start at 28 weeks either. It had been going on for weeks at that point, and the swelling would NOT go down with rest and elevation. I told him that and he just prescribed compression stockings...

This is the picture I'm referring to (leaving it behind a link, DON'T click if you don't want to see terribly creepy swollen feet/ankles!). Picture was taken at 28 weeks exactly, so within a day or so of seeing the OB.

  • @bluebird2318 my BFF's looked like that at about 20w with her first, and her doc didn't seem concerned. It happened again w/ baby 2 and her new doc was horrified. She's now pregnant w/babies 3&4 (surprise!) and at 25w yesterday she's as normal as can be.

  • We are seriously considering buying a house.  Like, ASAP.  We had to move from our house to an apartment due to DH's new job and were hoping to sell the house before buying again, but it's been 1 1/2 years and it's still not sold and we're getting impatient.  Am I crazy for thinking of doing this right now?
  • @aviola329 It's just ridiculous, isn't it? I had to start wearing DH's shoes. If I'm remembering right, it happened to my feet and ankles at the same time. Basically everything you can see in the picture (apart from my toes) were swollen. Even the calves don't look right to me. With the way my weight gain was you could tell that I was blowing up with swelling and water weight quickly. I don't feel like it happened gradually at all.

I haven't had any swelling yet with this pregnancy, and my weight gain at the same stage is less than half of what it was with DD (which I mostly attribute to lacking the extreme swelling this time around).

This has been asked before in its own thread, but laundry detergent??? Is it ok to use free and clear all, or would you buy the baby dreft/all???

I have crazy allergies of my own, PB and I plan to keep on using my free and clear.. Either tide or all, whatever is on sale. It's the only detergent I can use, dreft gave me hives as an infant, so I don't want to chance it with baby.

I said I didn't like the book first! She was just responding to my post.
I had no idea it was about loss, I was read the story as a kid I've never read the dedications is that info in there? I just remember being really creeped out by the story even as a little kid.

I wasn't aware of that either, and I also said earlier that the end of the story aspect of it weirds me out although I do like the "song" part of it. I did look it up and read an article on it just now, and yeah, the song part of it is apparently something he sang for their stillborn children. It seems he chose to base a story around it because he just couldn't get it out of his head. It really just depends on whether you are looking for the deeper meaning (which is beautiful) or just taking it at face value without considering context (which makes the story seem decidedly creepier).

  • I think my S.A.D. is back, in the starting-to-be-unmanageable kind of way. I can feel the heavy bluesy feeling creeping up a little bit more every day, and it's scaring me a bit. I had to be on mild anti-depressants for it two years ago, when I had a lot of negative life changes all at once, and it was pretty hard to function for a good long while. I knew I'd have to be on my guard for signs of depression as I was predisposed to it before pregnancy, and I've noticed myself feeling blue for no reason for a while, but didn't want to acknowledge that it could be getting worse. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, so I'll talk to her about it, but I just really really don't want to deal with depression. Especially not now. Not when there's so much to do and be motivated about and be thankful for. I'm scared. And worried. And sad. And I don't want to be.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer on TLTE.
