Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Hubs and I saw Dallas Buyers Club last night (Mathew Mcconaughey as a rodeo guy who catches HIV in the 80s). Well, freaky dream that I had HIV and was pregnant and now I'm up in the middle of the night, making sense of reality.

I hate when bad dreams feel so real that it wakes me up and keeps me awake for awhile.

However, it has allowed me to see the January sig challenge! Love it! :)

  • Thanks to whoever shared their dad's gorgeous Beatrix Potter nursery designs. Inspired me! I went to Value Village and bought some BP and music books for $1, painted the music pages with coffee to age them and cut out some of the characters from the books. Now I have nursery art!

Just have to hang them. :)

Ohmigosh @dani+california! Way to be super creative! I LOVE them!!!

  • Fuck this nighttime heartburn bullshit.

Mine is fiery horrible ALL day. I was gagging from it trying to read a story to my class this afternoon. And I take rantadine every day!

Same here with the all day crap.  It's sporadic all day, so Tums usually does the trick. I just wish I had trigger foods I could identify and avoid!

Me too!! I was just thinking that today, but it's literally everything. And the wives tale about your baby having tons of hair if you have bad heartburn? So false! DD was a bald little egghead until 18 months! ;)
  • I love when I wake up to pee and it's only 2am and I still have 3 1/2 more hours to sleep before work. I hate when I wake up at 2 am and I'm wide awake. :-(
  • Thank you ladies so much!! It was a very scary night. I have never had the procardia not do its job. They are unsure what is causing the contractions or why I am having them. They told me I could take the next dose of procardia sooner if this happens again. I see my OB on the 10th so I am going to question the heck out of him. I would like some answers so I know if I did something to cause them or if I have something else going on. This baby is not allowed to vacate my uterus for at least 16 more weeks. I have had the talk with him. Now we will see of he is like his father that has selective hearing ;)

  • DH got more woodblocks (percussion instruments.) He watches youtube videos and hits them constantly. It drives me INSANE!!

  • It's 2:30 am and I'm awake. Which would be frustrating enough if I'd just woken up, but I have yet to fall asleep. Debating the merits of taking a shower and possibly waking poor DH vs. it helping me get some shut-eye. I've been sleepy for days, and NOW I get insomnia??? Not cool, body. Not cool.

  • I feel your insomnia pain. Since technically my body has now had 5 hours sleep, it thinks it can survive the day. Someone needs to tell it that it's NYE!!

  • I bought a maternity bra from Target and wore it yesterday.... All day I kept thinking "this is the worst bra EVER" and wanted to take it off. When I got home I realized its because the 38D I bought cannot contain my new E (E?!) boobs. So, if anyone wants me to send them a practically new bra, let me know. These suckers are never stuffing themselves into that mess again...
  • Ugh, I hate it when I forget to cancel subscriptions! I had an android phone that died and got a new "not smart" normal cell phone. I totally forgot to cancel the virus protection stuff and it JUST renewed. Its not a lot of money, but, just a little annoying. I hated that phone. (I'm sure most android phone are fine. The one I got was a piece of crap and after 9 months it stopped accepting calls. But facebook worked, LOL. We have no warranties or trades with our phone companies. Only full-price unlocked phones to buy. Annoying.)

I am so damn tired of feeling like I have something productive to say, and then by the time I get to this thread I forget what it was!

On a side note when I logged into the bump just now it was talking about 2014 popular names.  Apparently spices are going to be popular Rosemary, Sage, Bay, Poppy. Also boys names as middle names for girls...hmm

. Oops we are doing a boys name as a middle name for a girl. But it's a family last name that has been used as a middle name for generations so we want to use it since it's the last grandchild in that line.

I don't mind the boys name for a middle name. I know two people who did that this year with their girls. It's just weird how quickly trends catch on! What's the middle name you are using?

  • Didn't someone mention if you receive diapers as a gift you can pretty much return then to any store that sells that brand for store credit? I may be totally off on this one. I do know they let you exchange sizes, but since we're CDing I have tons of diapers I don't need. I know I can also donate them.

My Dr gave me omaprazole (prilosec) when I was pregnant with DD because I had such horrible heart burn all day long and it worked wonders!

ETA: DD had a lot of hair ;)

I read last night in What to Expect that because of the hormone Relaxin it opens the muscle from the stomach to the esophagus allowing stomach acid to flow causing heartburn.  It's not because of hair.  I was like damn that makes sense.

Oh I know! I was just teasing bc the old wives tale is that if you have heartburn your baby will have a lot of hair.

  • DS had a TON of hair, and never really lost it when he was born. It was pretty awesome, but I throat punched everyone who told me the heartburn was worth it since he wasn't bald.
NOTHING IS WORTH THAT. I'd much prefer a baldie if it actually saved me (which I know it would since they aren't related).

RE returning diapers: Save receipts if you actually get any. Target has a limit on the value of what you can return without a receipt/gift receipt (they track by your drivers license). Walmart doesn't, I don't think.

Yeah target is stricter. Walmart and meijer pretty much let you do whatever. They always let me exchange unopened sizes.
  • @snmetz7 that is exactly what I want to do! I love it!! Just showed it to DH and he finally agreed to paint it like that!!

Big day here. Finally get the keys to the new house and take the glucose test this afternoon! So much going on!
  • My kid is in my ribs, if I turn my body to the left at all I have a piercing pain in my right rib!! Ahhhh :((

Yay! yeah I had to show my hubs a few picks before he agreed to have one stripped wall and not all grey. we wanted to keep the walls neutral along with the big ticket items so that we don't have to re-do everything for number 2.

yay to the house! so exciting.

  • So, I know depression is a common hormone symptom, but, is the opposite? I just feel insanely happy all the time. Not complaining, but its weird. Is this hormones too?? (Not trying to be insensitive to our depression sufferers. I suffered a long time with chronic pain induced depression, so I feel for all of you! I'm just curious)

I have yet to experience the rib kicks, but I have a bad feeling this kid is going to beat the crud out of them if/when he flips.  Peanut likes to hang out really low, and I've only had maybe one or two pokes above the belly button at this stage, but he goes all soccer player on me late at night, and it's downright crazy.

  • You wanna know something REALLY pathetic??

A litter box dictates my living arrangements. A freaking litter box. I can't use the completely open 2nd bedroom we pay rent for every month as a nursery because the box is in there and I won't make my baby sleep near pooping cats. And while searching online for a new apartment community to move into next June, I am looking at floor plans thinking "Can I hide a cat box there? No? Next!"
When I had a cat in an apartment, I used the coat closet.  It was a sliding door type and I just left it open on the end.  Is that a possibility for you?  Is there any room in your bathroom?
