Taking calcium with your magnesium might help with Charlie horses. The type of magnesium can maybe also affect how much it will help. Some are better for cramps, some are better for sleep.
My sleep has been pretty good except now my husbands allergies are kicking in and he’s been snoring a lot more lol. Hopefully it will pass soon!
Anyone else having unpredictable hunger? I feel like whenever I get hungry I'm at a 10 for hunger, but I'm either going to pop after a piece of toast, or I could eat the whole loaf.
Yes on the unpredictable hunger. I'll make a plate that initially looks amazing, then have two bites and be done. Or get a second helping. It doesn't seem to be based on my activity so I definitely think my baby is controlling everything!
yes, but not just hunger, i've been parched recently! i can either drink 2 bottles of water and feel uncomfortable OR have a couple sips and feel uncomfortable - there’s no in between.
Anyone experiencing prodromal labor? I had it for 3 weeks before I had my first. I had it all day yesterday and on Father’s Day. I mentally am not prepared for this again it’s sooo exhausting. I’m 34 weeks today.
Everything I look up says prodromal labor usually never gets closer than 5 minutes. But mine this pregnancy are ALWAYS 3 minutes apart, 1 minute long? Anyone else also have “closer than normal” false labor? That’s the only think that worries me, my body gets so sore after so long what if I don’t notice transitioning into active labor? 😅
@sph97 I did not notice I was in labor my first pregnancy because of what you're describing. Every work day starting at around 34 weeks, I'd basically spend the last 3-4 hours with 3 min contractions that wouldn't stop till I laid down for bed. I delivered at 36 weeks. I only recognized I was in actual active labor because my water broke when I was getting into bed. My pain level with contractions didn't change until I was dilated to an 9, which is well into active labor. Those BH contractions/prodomal labor wear a person out.
@lqbtqmommy the only reason I knew the difference with my first was I woke up from dead sleep in back labor! The way he was facing was causing the worst back pain I ever had. Praying I don’t have back labor this pregnancy since baby is OA, but yes. I’m not sure I’ll know when active labor starts unless my waters break! It’s very exhausting, my body is so sore!
@sph97 idk if this is considered prodromal labor but i’ve been contracting every single day for over a week now. i went to the dr one morning and they hooked me up to the contraction monitor, they only saw 2 big contractions in 15 minutes so they just told me to keep monitoring at home but to go straight to the hospital if i start getting them every 5 mins. the next day i was woken up from a nap with constant contractions so i started recording them using an app. i was getting them every 2.5 minutes & they lasted around 45 seconds each! the app said to start heading to the hospital but i didn’t cause they weren’t super painful and they slowly faded off after 45 minutes .. i still get them everyday but they’re not as consistent but its so tiring! my lower back hurts all day it just feels so sore. i don’t wanna go to the hospital unless my water breaks or something 😂
@littlebabybuster that sounds like prodromal labor! Mine will last HOURS & they always say to come in but I’d be in medical debt forever if I went in everytime my contractions followed the 5-1-1 rule 😅
The past couple days I’ve had back pain + pressure but they fizzle out after about and hour, if they stay consistent with the additional pains I’ll likely go in because they are much more uncomfortable. With a toddler it’s so hard finding childcare for an unpredictable amount of time, last minute, to get sent home from L&D anyways!
@sph97 the back pain & pressure is what’s getting to me recently! i literally walk so slow sometimes, especially when i’m holding my 1 yr old. the contractions fade off then come back .. but the lower back pain is so annoying, it’s constant all day long. at this point i just cant wait to be 2 months postpartum - already recovered from the csection with somewhat of a routine. my 1 yr old has no idea what’s coming, i know its gonna break my heart not being able to carry him when recovering.
My blood pressure has been elevated my last 2 appts and they told me if it is consistently higher that they will push me to induce at 37 weeks since I’m also high risk and I’m older. Hoping my blood pressure comes down, but also, has anyone got any tips for handling induction without an epidural or drugs? Induction is what I really don’t want, as I was induced with my first 12 years ago and the pitocin contractions were so painful I barely made it. I actually DID Get an epidural but it didn’t work, so the thought of being induced scares me. With my second I went natural and was able to rough it.
I was told to take 2 baby aspirin a day to help make sure my blood pressure stayed in a good zone. So far that has been working for me, I don't know if you were told something similar or not @lolothenailtech
anyone know if crampy is an early labor sign? I’ve been stuck in prodromal labor off and on for a while but this is different, it’s like mild period cramps. I’ve been having them since yesterday but no pattern, but definitely catches my attention! Did I not have these since I had back labor with my first?
Random question but I'm curious since my DH and I are of different minds. Are you planning on having your August baby be the youngest in their class or hold them back and have them be the oldest? Our deadline is Sept 1st for schools. Obviously, I get that it's important to take the child's disposition/personality/etc. into account.
Our cutoff is also sept 1st so it will really depend on her readiness. We pushed my son ahead when he was the youngest and ended up having to repeat it was a terrible mistake
I currently have the Boon Nursh Reusable Silicone Baby Bottles with Collapsible Silicone Pouch Design on my registry. Their ad on Insta intrigued me and they have some pretty good reviews on Amazon.
I know this was asked a few days ago and I haven’t had an induction but I had a homebirth with my first and if you can have access to a tub to labour in, it helped me SIGNIFICANTLY. The midwife wanted me to get out and move around and I lasted two or three contractions out of the tub before I ran back to it. It was a life saver. Not sure how it would work with induction labour but if you can, I highly suggest labouring in a tub.
I had an induction with my third and I didn’t have an epidural with that birth (or any of them). I personally was very scared of pitocin contractions since I’d heard horror stories but in my experience the contractions felt the same as they did when I labored without pitocin. Still intense, as labor is, but manageable for me with the same strategies I used in my other births (meditation/relaxation, breathing, position changes, yes water if you have access to it, etc). Obviously everyone (and every birth) will be different but just letting you know it is possible!
@lolothenailtech I think they started it at the lowest dose and increased a little bit every 30 minutes until I was maxed out. From the time they started the pitocin until birth it was about 5.5 hours. I’m pretty sure that is the standard protocol, to start low and gradually increase, so if you do need pitocin next time hopefully they will do it that way.
Who else is struggling with insomnia? I think this has been the worst symptom yet. I have unisom but I’m trying not to take it every night …I ended up taking it at 2:30 AM this morning because I could not take being awake anymore! Had to take off from work today…zero energy
@babyonthewayaug24 me! I get like 4 hours of sleep and then I wake up and it takes hours to fall back asleep. I’m grateful for the first few hours, but I’d like a full night without the help of unison.
@lexilougolden I homeschool my kids but with regards to ages for starting acedemics, I base it on a few factors.
1. Boy vs girl. A girl can be started earlier. Boys generally do better when started later. - My 8 yo son and 6 yo daughter are academically closer to 1 year apart than 2 years. A combination of sex and personality. 2. Type of school/school's educational philosophy. - We are putting 2 kids in a Montessori school this year. I would enroll my 4 yo, too, but she's only half day and I can't make that long of a drive 3x a day when she's doing the same thing there that we already do at home. 3. Personality of the child. - My 6 yo is highly motivated. Based on her age, she can either be in the little kid class or the elementary level. She is ecstatic to be going into the elementary level. Her 7yo friend, however, aged out of the little kid class and is terrified of the prospect of the next level. The only thing helping her make the transition is that her brothers and my daughter are in the same class.
4. Readiness/interest of the child. Do *they want* to go to school? Or would they rather play? (Learning/exploring, inquisitive, active movement; not the video game type) - My oldest was not ready for school when he was younger. We have spent years struggling with him academically. He's supposed to be a HS freshman this year but we are holding him back until next year so that he will be better prepared. He wants to learn more about coding so that will be a focus for him this year along with weight training. My 11 yo, on the other hand, is planning to complete HS in the next 3-4 years. He plans to complete the CC's culinary program, too, either at the same time as HS or the following year.
I use Ritual Prenatal. It's been gentle on my stomach, especially if I take it after eating. I liked my last one too, but it sometimes made me feel sick, like I might throw up. Totally normal to feel that way for some prenatal!

P.S. Sorry for the essay.
