@equinedoctormama I told my boss at 8 weeks because I was experiencing bleeding and had to see my OB. Overall glad she knows, she was very accommodating. We are officially “out of the woods” and I announced on Facebook, so she announced to the staff our first meeting after the new year LOL. So everyone know 😅 I’m a kindergarten teacher, so it’s convenient for people to know and offer extra eyes when I need more frequent bathroom breaks or if they see me sitting for a moment to catch my breath in class lol.
I had spotting in my last pregnancy that lasted a couple days and both spotting and bleeding in this pregnancy that lasted maybe 2 weeks total. Both were due to SCH. It’s so anxiety provoking but spotting can be common in early pregnancy. Sending you positive vibes!
@equinedoctormama I told my immediate manager right away. I’ve known her my whole career and has been there for me during our infertility journey. I will tell her manager sometime early second trimester.
I’m a 2nd grade teacher so I told my 2nd grade team right away because I needed help with bathroom breaks and covering my class when I really didn’t feel well. I told my principal this week after I heard the heartbeat and because I had other coworkers already guessing and figuring it out. I’m planning to make it public to everyone at the end of the month!
Hello, I’m 9w6d today and I’ve had several ultrasounds because we were working with a fertility clinic. My first ultrasound was at 5w6d and baby was measuring a day ahead with a 91bpm heartbeat. Second ultrasound was at 8w0d and baby was measuring 3 days ahead with a hr of 149bpm. Third ultrasound Friday at 9w3d and baby was measuring 9w1d with 164bpm, fertility doctor did not seem concerned and graduated us. I had my first regular ob/gyn appt today and baby was still measuring 9w1d with a hr of 169bpm (however for some reason doc wrote on his notes 154bpm). The doctor did not seem concerned and tried to reassure me that all ultrasounds have shown a baby with a heart beat, but I’m not sure. Baby was measuring ahead and stopped growing? Baby has grown 6 days in 2 weeks? Has anyone had this happen? I’m already not feeling great about the doctor’s notes not being accurate. This is my 5th pregnancy, I have a 5yr old at home and 3 chemical pregnancies so I’m always on edge. I’m trying to find peace but I’m not sure I should get an additional opinion. I want this baby so bad!
I had a friend whose due date constantly fluctuated the first 6 months of her pregnancy based on baby’s measurements. He’s now a bright and beautiful 9 month old. I would expect a little variation to be ok, especially since the measurements haven’t changed that much. Before getting a second opinion, I might ask for a repeat ultrasound in a week or so.
I am a teacher and I have told a couple of my co-workers because of nausea and needing to potty frequently. But I plan to tell my director Thursday after my appointment tomorrow. Then everyone else with a cute valentines conversation hearts sweatshirt I found on Etsy! 11w5d
Not prescribed but my midwife did say it's safe to take dramamine. I take it as soon as I wake up and it's really helped. I take the less drowsy formula and haven't had any issues
New here! FTM. Hi all. Has anyone started to worry that they’ve been wearing something too tight? I am feeling the bloat and even though I haven’t gained weight my pants are all tighter. On a few occasions I’ve put something on that’s borderline uncomfortably snug (because uh…haven’t got maternity clothes yet) and then freaked out hours later when I see a little line on my skin from my pants. Or fallen asleep for a nap with pants on and realized they were pinching my waist when I woke up. Anxiety is high about squishing anywhere around my tummy. Even a lightly snug waist sometimes is enough to make me nauseous. Anyone else?
This early in pregnancy, that little Bean of yours is nicely padded, even from the confines of tight pants. Also, you’re not alone. I’m already looking into maternity pants. Last pregnancy I tried to stay in my regular pants as long as possible. This time, I am definitely making comfy a priority.
On the subject of pants, does anyone have a brand of maternity jeans they like? I have pairs from my last pregnancy from Target and the Gap, but they both sag all day (especially the Target ones). And I’m at the point in this pregnancy where I can’t keep just unbuttoning my regular jeans when I sit down because half the time I forget to rebutton them 😂
@michelene19 right now baby is still tucked behind your pelvic bone! Tight pants are not comfy for you but totally fine for baby. I’ve definitely graduated to daily leggings though because a waistband makes me crazy at the moment lol
@wondermelon I HATED my maternity jeans the last time around, and ended up just wearing dresses when I was pregnant with my September baby. Hoping someone has a good recommendation because I need it too haha
@wondermelon Sadly, that is the nature of maternity jeans. Anatomically, they just aren't going to stay up very well, especially as the bump gets bigger.
That being said, I prefer the jeans with the elastic V cut directly into the waistband on either side. I like wearing a belt for added slip/sag resistance (and I need to carry knives and tools still while working around the yard) and this style keeps the belt loops. It's also the most post-partum friendly because it doesn't look like maternity pants at first glance.
Of jeans with the fabric panel around the entire top of the pant, I prefer the ones that are a tighter weave fabric and only a few inches high. The larger the panel the less holding power it seems to have, especially as it wears.
As a temporary fix or pant extender, look into the fabric belly bands. (They always remind me of tube tops. Lol.) They go over your pants, hiding the unbuttoned/unzipped top, and help hold them up a bit, too. I wear mine a little lower so it looks like a layered shirt. I recommend the ones with a bit of silicone strip on the bottom edge to help hold it in place better.
Alright y’all, call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been feeling baby move around. Not kicking or anything like that but I just have a feeling of something flipping around. It could definitely just be like anxiety or something because I’m only 12w tomorrow so I know I shouldn’t be feeling baby move yet. I guess I’m wondering if anyone else has felt something like this?
I’m about 13 weeks and I swear I have felt baby move too. Very rare (like once every couple of days), subtle, and doesn’t last long, but this being my 4th baby I feel pretty confident that that’s what it is.
Same - I totally feel like occasionally I feel a little flip or something. I know it’s nearly impossible at 10.5 weeks but it’s my third time so maybe?
I had a private scan at 10 weeks 4 days on Wednesday. Due to previous two pregnancies ending in miscarriage I’m just super paranoid about everything.
During the scan sonographer confirmed everything looked good but the nuchal transparency appeared quite big to myself and partner but they wouldn’t measure as it’s not actually usually measured until 11 weeks.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or can offer some advice
Is anyone else already having pain - down there? It’s the kind of pain I have on the worst days of my period and if it’s going to be like this for 30 more weeks I don’t know how I’ll make it
@lexilougolden it’s more pelvic. I think maybe because this time around I am standing and walking more often during the work day. It doesn’t seem quite as bad if I’m not up on my feet a lot. Cramping has luckily been minimal
Anyone else really sick? I'm getting to my wit's end. I throw up every other day, nauseous all day every day. My Zofran doesn't help 😢 I need another mama in the same boat to complain to.
@lexilougolden I thought I was going to by pass the nausea this pregnancy but it has come full swing. I was throwing up in a ziplock (I thankfully had from leftover snacks) in my car driving home from work yesterday. I’ve been getting sick about once a day this past week, I pray it doesn’t get worse. With my son a GOOD day was only getting sick once or twice but it still sucks!!
@theneno1012 I’ve had like, early lighting crotch kind of pains? I’m assuming it’s because it’s my second baby, but sometimes it is pretty sharp but it never lasts long.
@lexilougolden have you ever tried acupressure motion sickness bracelets? I find it sometimes helps relieve nausea (though not always as evidenced by my throwing up lol). I keep telling my husband I never want to do this again (which of course I will because I want more children after this one!) The things we endure for our children…
@theneno1012 Perhaps it's some round ligament pain? As relaxing increases it's also possible that your pelvic bones are actually separating and causing pain. Sounds bad enough to talk to your OB about.
@beesgirls I tried the motion sickness bracelets with my first- they didn't work. So I haven't tried them this time. I'll throw them on tonight and see. So far I get sick every night.
I personally love my Motherhood Maternity jeans and overalls (and wanted to love my Old Navy ones but those ones sag) But Old Navy has some stretchy maternity chinos for work that work great!
Has anyone tried Phenergan for nausea? My doctor suggested it because Zofran isn't working and I'm getting sick 2-3x a day. All the contraindications plus not knowing the affects on baby...I just feel unsure.
@lexilougolden I was on the suppositories at one point my first pregnancy because I was also throwing up my Zofran and any oral meds. My baby was born 9lbs and healthy!
Ultimately in the end I ended up taking reglen before each meal and bed and that helped me hold food down the most. It was a lot of trial and error! I hope they find something that works best for you! I am so sorry you’re feeling this sick, I know it’s awful!!
I had a little mommy daddy fun time and started spotting brownish discharge. That was on sat 1/27, it hasn’t gone away and it’s been almost a week. Today I noticed a slight change in color and it was pink. I started freaking out and called the dr. They assured me there were no red flags as I have no cramping. Still freaking out though. This never happened with my previous 3 pregnancies😞
@lizg2204 I know it's scary. I've spotted with both of my pregnancies and it doesn't get easier. Trust your gut and your doctor. I've been told if my cramps are worse than a period, bleeding is more than a pad an hour, to go into the ER. I keep that in mind while keeping my doctor up to date. Hope that helps.
i’m needing help! with my last pregnancy last year i had daily headaches that would go away with tylenol, it was easy. this time around, i’ve had a headache for 3 days straight & nothing has helped! i’ve taken tylenol with a small cup of coffee to see if that helps, it helps a bit but after a few hours it comes back stronger. i sleep at night & thats about the only relief i get, cause once i wake up it starts up again. my ob says some women get migraines ONLY during pregnancy which seems to be my case .. anybody have any tips for headache relief? anything helps! thanks.
@littlebabybuster I’ve been in the same boat. Tonight I had some liquid IV mixed with water and it has seemed to help. But I hear you, there headaches are miserable.
@littlebabybuster A 3:1 ratio of Peppermint and Lavender essential oils on a cotton ball has helped me in the past. The worse the headache, the higher the concentration of oils. I usually place it on the pillow next to my face and breathe it in as I'm laying down.
Ice packs on the back of the neck and forehead is another of my go-tos. Especially after an Epsom salt bath. Something about the warm then cool feels really good. As a plus, the Epsom salt will help with any restless leg.
Homeopathically, I've used Arnica. It's usually for muscle trauma and bruises but I've found it helped a few of my headaches too. Formula 303 is a natural muscle relaxant, contains valerian; start with a ½ tab as it can be quite effective.
It could also be muscular tension. Where it hurts can indicate which muscles are in need of relief; quite a few tensions headaches are related to the back of the neck at the base of the skull. Shoulder tension will also pull on neck and head muscles. As the pregnancy progresses, a woman's skeleton is pulled all out of alignment and that has far reaching effects. If it is hormonal imbalance related, balancing the sphenoid can help; you'll want to seek out a myofascial release (MFR) therapist, ideally one trained under John Barnes, or a cranial-sacral therapist. Online Q&As are no comparison to having an experienced professional place their hands on you. I can usually tell a lot from just looking at my clients first but it's nothing compared to what I can "see" with my hands. (14 years Massage Therapist, 13 years specialized in prenatal massage)
I've learned to never accept "pregnancy" or "motherhood" as a reason for symptoms nor to accept that there is nothing to be done about it. It is a shoddy excuse and dismissive. There is a reason our bodies react to things or in certain ways. And so far, after 7 children, every single symptom or side effect of pregnancy has been resolvable. For a long time, I believed the lie that there are just some things that come with being pregnant and giving birth. Lived with it for many years but not any more. Sometimes you have to be your own advocate, your own researcher, and be willing to step outside the modern medicine ideological box.

For some reason my back is already aching! Need to stop being so nauseous so I can work out.
