I use the Ritual prenatal. As far as pills go, I think it goes down pretty easily. Last pregnancy I had to switch to a gummy vitamin for about 4 weeks because I couldn’t put any pill in my mouth without gagging. I’ve managed to get all the vitamins down so far this time without gagging so hoping that continues since I know gummies aren’t ideal.
I’ve always used Nature Made with DHA. Sometimes I’ll get a little nauseous, but usually only if I take it before eating anything.
@lexilougolden I remember in my last bmb some of the moms would take their prenatal before bed so they could just go to sleep and wouldn’t notice if it made them nauseous. Not sure if that might help?
@kellsymone I'm not a doctor just giving my experience. I spotted here and there with my first, sometimes getting checked for it and everything was fine. You can always call the nurse/ doctor and see what they say.
@kellsymone I didn’t spot at all with my first but did occasionally with my second. I called the dr every single time bc I was nervous. Sometimes the nurse reassured me and gave me things to look out for, and sometimes they had me come in just for added reassurance. If you’re worried or nervous definitely call.
@kellsymone same disclaimer, but from what I’ve heard it can be normal.
My question is, what are you all wanting to eat (or at least finding tolerable right now)? I’ve just entered that fun stage in the first trimester where I’m hungry but nothing sounds good. Needing some inspiration.
@annabanana051416 I just made a chicken pasta with white parm sauce that was really good. Bagel + avacado. I'm in a plainer/blander mood probably because I'm nervous I'll start puking one of these days!
@knottie0bb40c22b1b7d08f nooooooo. That sounds horrible. I seriously would choose stuff to eat based on throwing it up later. Crazy.
I've had a lot of pulling sensation in my tummy. Not sure if my muscles are already stretching??
Who else's doctor doesn't do HCG testing? It's kind of making me crazy not knowing if the baby/pregnancy is progressing. It's hard not having a first appointment until 10 weeks!
@lexilougolden bagel and avocado actually does sound pretty good right now. Thanks! My doctor doesn’t do hcg testing routinely either and doesn’t schedule the first appointment until at least 10 weeks. I don’t like to wait that long for reassurance so I scheduled a private ultrasound at an ultrasound spa that will do a heartbeat confirmation as early as 5-6 weeks (I waited until 6 weeks because I didn’t want to freak myself out more if we went too early). I think there may also be places that will run labs for you if you request it and pay out of pocket.
Sph97, it sucks. Evenings are the worst for me right now but it was like the moment I hit 6 weeks my body decided it was time to feel like crap. I do truly savor every moment as this will be my last, but I reserve the right to complain about how icky I feel lol. 7 weeks on Friday.
@lolothenailtech I will be 8 weeks Saturday! I was up in the MOTN sick last night. I pray this subsides by 2nd trimester! I was sick the entire 9 months with my son and I was so worried about it happening again, but now I’m chasing a toddler 😵💫
@kellsymone I came here to ask basically the same thing.
I'm 5w6d and two nights ago I noticed the slightest light pink while wiping. It's our first and my GP told me last week that if I had pain rated at 8/10 (or higher) or any bleeding to go to the hospital. So 11:30pm my husband and I hopped in the car and headed to the ER. Fast forward a long night of waiting, and around 10am I got in and had an ultrasound and they compared my hcg levels to what they were at my GP appointment two days prior (grew from 2,505 to 6,600). Results were that everything seemed normal and on track.
Now I'm here and this morning I've noticed the blood is a bit brighter (still no presence of clots) but I've been cramping basically the entire pregnancy.
Basically with all of this, I've learned that if you're following what you're supposed to be doing, you can't control the outcome, and (correct me if I've been misinformed) the only thing I can do now is wait another day and go get more bloodwork to see if the hcg levels have increased how they should.
Does anyone have suggestions other than to wait and try to get bloodwork on Christmas Day?
@mrsw2023 I posted part of this is the July BMB (I’m due 8/3 but had my son nearly a month early) I passed small clots the morning of the 21st. I was seen by my OB and we discovered my gestational sac had collapsed. I got bloodwork back Friday eve and my progesterone is dropping. My HCG is HIGH (180k) at nearly 8 weeks pregnant but they seemed more concerned about my progesterone and the fact my gestational sac had collapsed.
With the holidays and how late it got called in it will Tuesday before I can pick up my progesterone. The nurse reassured me that it cannot prevent the inevitable. The earliest they could get me in to check on the viability of my pregnancy is the 4th.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help, but I hope it does help knowing you aren’t the only person going through the holidays “in limbo.”
I’ve been having the worst ‘morning sickness’—it’s all day and doesn’t really come with vomiting just nausea.
Does anyone else get triggered by the memory of past food?
I feel like every time I have a meal, I like it, but two hours later I can’t stand the thought of it!!! It is repulsive to me now when it once was so tasty. I now have tictacs because it helps reset my taste so my memory of past food doesn’t make me throw up.
I haven’t *quite* gotten there with this pregnancy, but I can definitely commiserate from Baby Number One. I would pace the grocery store aisles and just pick whatever *didnt* make me want to hurl. 😅
I am taking the vegan prenatal vitamins with iron, DHA and folic acid. They are soft gel supplements that don't have any aftertaste or smell. https://secretsoftea.com/products/prenatal-formula-daily-vitamins-doctor-recommended-gluten-free-multivitamin-omega-3-dha-epa-fish-oil-folate-methylfolate-methyl-b12-vitamin-d3-60-count-60-day-supply?_pos=5&_sid=22fb82eee&_ss=r
Does yall symptoms come and go? I feel that mine are doing that. I'm 7 weeks right now. All I experience is light cramping around my abdomen area. I'm scared of losing you know 😭 it's my first baby so I'm just anxious
I’ve learned from experience that you can’t determine the health of a pregnancy by symptoms, or lack thereof, (unless you are experiencing concerning symptoms like heavy bleeding or intense cramping) and symptoms can come and go.
My First pre-natal availability/appointment is not until April 9th, well into my estimated 2nd trimester; currently 5wks 5days.
They want me to do an initial new pt appointment and that comes before the prenatal and that’s March 8th.
Should I be concerned?!? I would think I would need to be seen way before this, especially being 38 and my first pregnancy. Or is this normal no matter the age?
@fanciefan I just had my initial appointment+just urinalysis and physical exam) today at 5ish weeks, and I have my first US 1/15. I am not high risk. I'd be asking questions if I were you for sure.
You most definitely should be seen between 8-12 weeks. February at the latest if they do not have the availability to take on a new mom then you should be looking at other doctors. IMO
I agree with what the others have said. That’s disconcerting and I’d be looking for a new doctor. The clinic you’re currently scheduled at is likely way overbooked (staff and doctor shortages and all). It doesn’t mean it’s a bad place, but you should establish care much sooner than April.
I did some more research and calling around and found a place that could get me in as soon as Feb 14. Not as quickly as I hoped but I definitely think that’s more reasonable. It would put me further away for the hospital but it seems like it’s worth it.
Appreciate the feedback. I realize I gotta fight for me and my baby.
I met my OB yesterday. I am being referred to MFM after 20 weeks. My last birth was a c section and they found a window rupture. The OB said I will have to have a scheduled section at 36 weeks. Anyone else go through this before? I’ll be 36 weeks July 5th.
Had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks yesterday! I had one fetal pole with a HR of 110 and one yoke sac with no fetal pole or hb anyone else have this at 6 weeks and it end up being twins?
Anyone get nausea medicine prescribed before their first appointment? I can call my doctor and find out but I was just curious. My first appointment isn't for 1.5 weeks and I'm really struggling to do anything day to day.
Anyone have light brown spotting at 7 weeks? If so how long did it last? I just had my first ultrasound and heard the heartbeat this week so I’m hoping the spotting was just caused from that appointment. I’m planning to call my provider first thing Monday once they’re open again but could use some reassurance that this is normal in the meantime!
I had some light brown spotting a couple weeks ago - ceased after a day or so. My doctor told me to only be concerned if filling a pad over the course of 2 hours.
