Re: Questions Mega Thread

  • One thing I have found to help hide the fact that I’m not drinking is to order a soda water with lemon. It looks like a mixed drink and can help with nausea. Good luck!

  • My wife is on day 3 and hasn’t had morning sickness. She is worried and I am wondering if anyone else can relate so I can assure her that everything is alright! We are going to our first doctors appointment next week
  • Symptoms can come and go in early pregnancy. It’s not a sign that anything is wrong.
  • Agreed. I don't have constant nausea with this pregnancy. It comes in waves usually early in the morning and late at night. It's definitely nothing to worry about if it comes and goes.

  • About 9 weeks in here. Anyone else having trouble being active with morning sickness, limited appetite, etc.? I would like to at least have the energy to go for a walk but I get nauseous after about 30 minutes of movement now. I was able to do this for at least 1 hr pre-pregnancy. Advice?
  • @leomom27 that sounds normal to me! 30 minutes in the first trimester is great. I’m the same. One tip is to steadily eat plain crackers to stave off nausea.
  • @leomon27 this is pretty normal. It's hard between nausea and the utter exhaustion the first trimester is rough.

  • I have complete loss of appetite. I’m forcing myself to eat. I’m not nauseous, but just don’t have it in me to eat. And I’m also exhausted. :( just going up the stairs wipes me out. :(
  • Anyone else having extreme “morning sickness” but really it’s all day long from the time they get up to the time they go to bed. I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow and it’s been really hard the last 10 or so days. I’ve tried the ginger chews, preggie pops, wrist bands, b6 vitamins and nothing is working. I’m extremely nauseous all day and I can barely eat or drink anything. Any other suggestions? My doctor suggested unisom along with the b6 which I’m going to try tonight. Suggestions welcomed pf what has worked for you.
  • @knottie77f2a5488b0331fc I have felt the same way for almost a full week. I am 6w1d. It’s a real struggle and I’ve got a 6 year old and 3 year old to keep up with too. Needless to say my house is a wreck.

I’m 9 weeks pregnant and I felt the worst morning sickness especially the minute I wake up and take a sip of water then my stomach does flips! I find that eating something like a piece of bread, crackers, some type of carb and take baby sips of water until you feel a bit settled usually helps. I also eat something small to hold me over right before bed. I try never to be hungry bc the minute I am then my morning sickness kicks in.
  • @lmn823 saltine crackers are my best friend! I’ll try to do a small snack before bed and I fully agree with you if I don’t eat and get hungry it’s so much worse. Are you still feeling that way or did it pass at week 9?
  • Has anyone dealt with esophageal bleeding from throwing up so much and so forcefully? Not like bleeding like a tear just like irritation. Drs aren’t concerned since it’s just been small streaks but just kind of curious on if anyone dealt with it and had any ideas on making the vomiting gentler so my esophagus can heal?
  • @justyouraveragemama that sounds terrible. I don’t have any experience but I’m so sorry you’re going through it.
  • @justyouraveragemama I have never been that sick during pregnancy. I have only thrown up with 2 of my babies and it was once or twice the entire pregnancy. I’m sorry you’re suffering so much.
  • Once I think I’m starting to get used to morning sickness then it hits me lol so yes I’m still feeling it at 9 weeks. Supposedly it’ll get worse between 9-12 weeks so I am cuddling with my crackers next to my bed.

  • This is our first pregnancy and I have high anxiety. I’m 7w 5d. First ultra sound and blood work is next Wednesday. I was throwing up and nauseous up until three days ago. Now I feel like my boobs are less tender and I have had some slight cramping throughout the day the last five days. Is this normal?
I just don’t feel pregnant suddenly. I’m going to Florida tomorrow through Monday so I won’t be able to get any appointments. I did take a pregnancy test today and the line turned dark blue within 10 seconds… maybe my high anxiety is making me crazy. No bleeding or spotting either. I appreciate the advice.
  • It’s normal for symptoms to come and go. You will likely wake up feeling them again tomorrow. It’s stressful but totally normal.
  • @thejessmajeski It sounds like you're doing pretty well! I had a similar situation where my progesterone was slightly low, but we have started progesterone supplementation just to ensure a continued healthy pregnancy. Ask your doctor about the possibility of progesterone vaginal capsules, oral pills, or injections. All of these are options for you! A great place to find resources on progesterone supplementation is the Saint Paul VI Insititute, highly recommend, and you can share these with your doctor. Best wishes to you friend!

@mrskoehl are you going through napro too??!
  • @cherrystorming Yes! Progesterone was at 19.2 at the first appointment, so we've started injections to get the levels up and keep baby safe in there 🙂 I hope things are going well for you!
  • @mrskoehl 10.3 and 12.4 here… scary to be that low but thankful there’s an option for me to get it up! Thankful I haven’t had any spotting at all this pregnancy which is reassuring for me too. And hoping now the placenta starts kicking into gear.
  • Has anyone here ever experienced early Braxton Hicks? I had two rounds late last night and couldn’t believe it. I had no idea they could start this early (6/7 weeks)! I drank some more water and rolled over to my other side and they went away, but it was a surprise, for sure.

(Just adding in case someone is wondering: I’m 100% sure it was BH and not cramps/true contractions. I had them all throughout my third trimester in my full term pregnancy. It was painless full abdominal tightening that lasted for over a minute both times it happened last night.)
  • @cherrystorming So glad you're being taken care of! You'll be in my prayers friend 🙂
  • I think someone previously mentioned they were anemic? I just got my test results back and have low RBC and hemoglobin. I think it’s from iron deficiency but that’s hard to believe given my prenatal!
  • @lily.hazel I had abdominal tightening/hardness like that one evening around 6 weeks too, it also reminded me of Braxton Hicks, but there’s no way my uterus was taking up that much space then, so I figured it was some other kind of cramps and also guessed it was dehydration related. Haven’t noticed it since and I’m 10 weeks now
  • @lily.hazel Tge earliest I have had BH is 17 weeks. My OB was shocked that I was having them that early. Honestly, I’m not sure it’s a thing to have BH that early.
  • @ccmrc143 increase your copper intake. I highly recommend the iron podcast from the freely rooted podcast.
  • @emeraldcity603 That’s why I was in disbelief at first! But when I searched it online, I found several sites saying BH start as early as 6 weeks, and that you feel them earlier when you’ve had more pregnancies (first pregnancies you usually begin to feel BH sometime after 20 weeks). This is my seventh pregnancy, so that kind of makes sense. I also have felt fetal movement before the end of the first trimester in my second pregnancy that made it that far, so I think my uterus may be extra sensitive.
  • @lily.hazel that’s interesting. I have had 9 pregnancies and definitely haven’t felt BH that early. I have felt early movement even with an anterior placenta. Strange how different everyone can be.
  • Has anyone told their family and friends yet? I’ll be 12 weeks Tuesday and I’m planning to tell my family next week just want to think of fun ideas to announce my pregnancy. Or is it too soon?? I’m nervous and ready hah
  • @lmn823 I just told my parents today and I’m 9.5w. I only told them because I’m visiting with DS and figured it’d be fun to do it in person. I personally still think it’s too soon for anyone else and will wait until 12-16w for friends and extended family, then 20w for work, and I dont do social media. For my parents today I had the ultrasound photo and just walked up behind my dad and said guess what! And handed it to him. And then my mom. Haha it was nice!
  • The people closest to me already know. Someone outside of my inner circle guessed. Not sure why. I think I mentioned something smelling funny and she blurted out, “you must be pregnant.” My in-laws know. I plan to announce to everyone else once my hematoma is healed.
  • I’ve only told a few people I’m close to. A mix of friends, coworkers, and siblings. I also told my boss already. We haven’t told our parents yet or our 4 year old. I’m 11 weeks today. I’m not in a rush to tell anyone, but maybe I’ll feel more confident about it after I have my first ultrasound.
  • @lmn823 I’ve told my family-my dad lives with us (in a separate in law suite)-so we’ve always told him pretty early. I also told my sister when she was here at Christmas because I wanted to in person. I’ve told a few close friends, but sort of due to extenuating circumstances. Oh and my BMB from my oldest knows 😂 but they are like one entity of amazing people and expect to be told as soon as you test. I personally don’t think there is such a thing as too soon for me. I kind of just go with whenever it *feels* right rather than reaching a set date. For work that’s usually later than friends. Some friends are super early whilst other friends are a bit later. General acquaintances are when the baby has arrived lol. And like @ccmrc143 I don’t do social media (I did with my first kiddo, but not the other two).
  • @lmn823 I’ve told close friends and family. After 4 losses, having their love and support has made grieving a little easier. Plus it’s been wonderful this time around to share my good news and milestones. Ultimately it’s a very personal decision. You have to go with what feels comfortable for you.
  • It’s been hard not to tell the kids because it’s like they instinctually know. They’ve made comments about me having a baby or being pregnant,
despite us never mentioning anything about adding to the family, as this was a bit of a surprise for us. We wanted to tell our kids and parents after we get our u/s Monday. I’ll be close to 9 weeks. But I just found out today my in laws are going out of town. We may tell tomorrow, which I’m not thrilled about but once we tell the kids it’s over. Not sure yet.

I have told a couple people I’m close with but don’t plan to really announce anything for a while. I’m debating when to tell work, as I own the place and once I tell my employees some will keep asking me my plans for leave. And I don’t have a plan yet for my coverage.

  • We’ve told all family and announced on social media. My first was unplanned at 19 and I hid him until like 30 weeks. I was excited to not be embarrassed and was excited to tell everyone so we did! I also know that no matter what happens, this baby is just like my already born child and feel that baby should be celebrated and loved by the people around us too even if the worst were to happen
  • @justyouraveragemama I had my first at 17. It was such a different time back then. I’m not sure I ever got a congratulations. I was thrown a beautiful baby shower and he was very celebrated and loved once everyone got over the shock of it all. I do love the celebration of each baby.
