@scaredunprepared Look at that sweet babe! I’m so glad that you were able to get the peace of mind that you needed! I have identified so strongly with everything that you have been feeling.
@scaredunprepared aww hi, baby!! And wow that is surreal. I remember that from my AS last time, I could see him doing gymnastics in there but felt nothing, but as a FTM with an anterior placenta that made sense. Just goes to show how literally every pregnancy is different, even for the same mom!

We had the completion of our anatomy scan today! The 2 structures they couldn't see last time (because it was too early at 16 weeks) were perfectly visualized and perfectly OK! Baby was very active as usual, and was caught facepalming her/himself at one point. Haha. Also, as has been the trend, the baby is – in the words of the sonographer – "not tiny": measuring 1 week ahead across the board. I can't believe that the estimated fetal weight is already 397 grams! I guess the good thing is that baby's head is no longer abnormally large. Haha. We go back for another "anatomy scan" (or whatever) at 32 weeks due to my having Hashimoto's.
@acleverusername aw look at baby's little hand!!!! Glad baby caught up and is just big in general lol. Always nice to have more scans just to make sure everything looks good. Our babe is measuring 14 oz already! My other 2 were little so I'm surprised this one is so big at this point.
Anatomy Scan was perfect! Huge relief! And I think she has my nose, maybe I’ll get a mini-me?? My son is a carbon copy of my husband so I think that’s just fair.

So jealous of all these beautiful babies! I won't have my scan until I'm 21 weeks and few days. I haven't had an ultrasound since I was 9 weeks and the wait is killing me!
Estimated gestational age is 5w5d. Is this just a different view which is why it looks like the yolk sac (?) is taking up the whole space? Had a previous miscarriage and with a lower heart rate this time again I’m of course questioning everything. My OB won’t see me for another month so I went to a local pregnancy clinic which doesn’t diagnose or give medical advice other than verify a pregnancy.

Hi there! Did you mean to post this in the April 2023 Moms group? It looks like the July 2023 birth month club might be a better fit for you!!
We had our anatomy scan today! The baby was tucked down low and curling up, so they weren’t able to see everything that they wanted to. I was a little upset because I’m just anxious to know that everything is fine.
Our doctor said that everything they were able to see looked perfect and she’s measuring right where they want her to be. We’ll go back in a few weeks to take another look at her. We didn’t get the best profile, but she showed off her beautiful little foot!
@v_flowers yay for a good anatomy scan!! Sorry you couldn’t see everything, but sounds like there’s not much to worry about and you’ll get to see baby again. Some babies are just stubborn like that! I almost had to do schedule a second AS too, but walking around for a little bit made her wiggle and shift so they could see the last bits.

We had our anatomy scan yesterday! I had just eaten lunch before the appointment so baby was moving all over the place, which was so fun to see but also made it harder for the tech to capture everything they needed 😂 I’ve been feeling baby for a little while but still wild to see all the movement I *cant* feel! Got to see lots of movement and have so many photos from this one! 🥰
Had probably the longest anatomy scan today, all because baby is super active and ridiculously stubborn! Anything the tech tried to look at, hands got moved to that very spot! Lots of thumb sucking and hands in face. But all is well so next u/s will be 2/15 when I'm 33 weeks.
🥰 it’s a boy! Anatomy scan went well. I was having quite a bit of anxiety about it since we have received so much bad news lately but the doctor said everything looks good. Unfortunately we weren’t able to talk about it much with her as she was getting called to go deliver a baby.
AS went well today. All was right on track and normal. This is my favorite shot that they sent us home with. I love that it looks like she's smiling for us...or maybe she's practicing her devilish grin since she wasn't the most cooperative for the sonographer today 🤣
Couple shots from our a/s this past Tuesday….SO relieved to get a glimpse at our (not so) little one this past week and also to be feeling them more and more….and to hear we’re growing like a weed already at about a week ahead and 13oz already 😳
So we had our AS last Wednesday and it was sort of bitter sweet. They told us that baby has a Choroid Plexus Cyst on the brain. Per the doctor, everything else looked perfect and baby is growing and in the 93rd percentile and there was no other indicators of any genetic issues. But of course the mind starts to panic no matter what. I spoke to them again Wednesday evening as I was just a ball of tears and anxiety and wayyyy too deep on google. They sent me the below article which helped give some peace but I am still so anxious. Basically told us we are now just in a waiting period until 28 weeks when they will do another US.
@cortsull0724 did you have the alpha fetoprotein (AFP) test done? Were you given the option of having an amniocentesis. I'm pretty surprised that that article from UCSF cites a risk of 1 in 200 of miscarriage. If done by a specialist (i.e. someone who performs amnio frequently), the risk is closer to 1 in 945. We get some of our care from UCSF and that's what we were told when we were contemplating it.
I’m sorry you didn’t get perfect news, but that article paints a pretty promising picture at least! It does look like the odds for everything being okay are in baby’s favor. Do you think you’ll have amnio done to hopefully rule out trisomy 18?
For what it’s worth, my son’s condition includes a lot of brain involvement and what I’ve learned so far is that the brain is more resilient than you’d think. There are people with his condition who have had brain resection surgery, removing large portions of brain tissue and they still live completely normal lives. The brain is an incredibly adaptable organ.
Of course anything abnormal in the brain is worrisome, but hopefully this is slightly reassuring at least! I hope your baby is in the majority that ends up being completely fine.
DS born 2/18/2019 DD born 4/1/2023 Baby #3 EDD 11/21/2024
I think we are opting to just sit tight and pray we are in the less than 1% category at this point. The amnio testing scares me a bit and the more I read the article and other stories online I feel more optimistic. I think we will be doing a level II ultrasound just to get a better view in a few weeks and hopefully by then it is resolved and they concur that there aren’t any other abnormalities that combined with this would be a concern. So far they say the don’t see anything else and they believe our chances of Trisomy 18 are rare, but it’s hard not to let the mind wander and stress of course.
thanks for sharing so much about your son and what you have learned about the brain! It definitely helps to hear from other mothers and not just read the confusing doctory language online!
@cortsull0724 I'm sorry you didn't get all good news and that you are playing the waiting game like we are over here. Tomorrow is our follow up to check baby's heart, so our wait is almost over thankfully. There is nothing that can stop you from worrying, but I'm glad they didn't find anything else concerning and that the doctor seems reassuring. Hugs to you!
@cortsull0724 thank you. Unfortunately, not quite the news we wanted. It is unclear if the av valve is isolinear? Basically it looks like it is straight across instead of slightly curved like it is supposed to be. So we have a fetal echo scheduled for a week from today. I expected it to be right away. I asked for soonest available. Even still it's a week of waiting and worrying!
@scaredunprepared I’m so sorry you didn’t get the news you wanted. I’m glad they’re looking after you so thoroughly but ugh, another week to wait! That’s the worst. Big hugs!
Do you know what a potential outcome might be, or what that finding could indicate for baby’s health? Hopefully it’s nothing serious! Maybe reach out to our mutual cardiac baby mom friend for support/guidance, she’s learned a LOT about caring for a heart baby, even though it’s not the same issue.

@iiirene I need all the peace and calm vibes. Thank you.
@etnyah yes I'm definitely reaching out to her!!! I know she at the very least knows the anxiety I'm feeling. I didn't ask what it might mean for us/ baby because in the moment my mind went blank. I am seeing in my research increased risk for trisomies. Nipt came back low risk but amnio is the only way to be sure.

thanks for sharing so much about your son and what you have learned about the brain! It definitely helps to hear from other mothers and not just read the confusing doctory language online!
