Re: What Is My Pregnant Self Eating (or not Eating)? - April Edition

  • Wavy Takis. There were no Doritos Flamas so hubbs improvised a little and they are disturbingly delicious.

@pangolindrome the wavy takis are so much better to me than the regular. I do agree that the Doritos are obviously best though.

Currently subsisting off of pb and strawberry uncrustables. Which my 5 year old hates me for since I’m eating his stash. 😂
  • I had peanut butter and spicy jelly tortillas today :)

  • sour cream and cheddar ruffles

  • Soooo many baked potatoes, topped with onion dip I make by adding minced onion and spices to sour cream.
  • @dsmith211 I was surprised at how good they are! I am so glad my body is fine with spicy food. I can’t find anything telling me I shouldn’t eat Red Dye 40 either, sooo I wanna say I can keep having this delicious, spicy cronch in my life.

  • Protein Kodiak cake mix made with almond milk instead of water (+ peanut butter and a drizzle of honey): 17g protein, ~30% DV calcium, 18% DV fiber
Two scrambled eggs + spinach: 12g protein and allll the other nutritional goodness from eggs and spinach haha

yum 😋 in case anyone is looking for healthy breakfast options!! Basically 30g of protein to start off the day. I’m making a bodybuilder in there 😂
  • @mk2022x That looks so yummy! I think I want a third dinner now…
  • After three days of thinking about it, I’ve finally ordered a Lava Cake on skip the dishes hahaha.
  • Made Pad Thai Saturday and it was super good! I was lazy and used a sauce packet. So not Gordon Ramsey approved and idk how authentic it tasted but definitely worked for me😁👍
  • I bought my husband a pasta making extension for our stand mixer this past Christmas, and tonight he made homemade ravioli! It was awesome and I love that he loves to cook (and will clean the entire kitchen after he’s done because food/dish cleanup has been triggering nausea for me this pregnancy)
Tomorrow night he’s making sweet potato enchiladas and I’m already looking forward to them!
  • @blanket_girl I have some serious envy over here. Homemade pasta is the best!

I am NO LONGER eating Kirkland’s pulled pork. Body no longer likes it.

However, Lotus Foods gf ramen squares (from Costco) with a serving of unshelled edamame and some Bitchin’ chipotle almond sauce is delicious! Doggo is mesmerized by the shelling process and she is a fan of edamame as well.
  • I had to make a pizza with green peppers on it for dinner tonight. HAD TO. I can otherwise take them or leave them, but tonight it was not an option.
  • My sweet tooth has kicked in again. Have a huge sweet tooth normally and from the moment I knew.i was pregnant up until now (17 weeks) sweet things have disgusted me. Now... Give me all the cake and cookies lol 🤣
  • @knottie...my sweet tooth has also reappeared now at 17 weeks. The other day I remembered I had chocolate chip cookies in my freezer. It was a very happy moment!😁 I was laying on the couch after and I think the sugar gave baby a rush cuz for the first time I felt flutters😍
  • Ok ladies who like their sweets… I’m not usually into sweets but am craving some randomly now. I heard of a recipe where you take medjool dates, cut in half lengthwise, take the pit out, spoon in some peanut butter, then drizzle with melted chocolate and lay flat on a cookie sheet and put in the freezer. Then bag them and take out as needed to thaw a bit. Apparently it tastes delicious and is on the healthier side. I just picked up a pack of medjool dates from Costco… that’s on my to-try list this week.
  • I don't think you're supposed to eat dates this early in pregnancy though. You're supposed to start eating them towards the end of the 3rd trimester, because it can help ripen your cervix.

  • I really want pancakes with Reese’s pieces in them. The husband has been informed and is going to buy supplies to make it happen Saturday morning. I am more excited than I should be lol.
  • My sweet tooth is kicking in too! Pre-pregnancy, I was never much of a dessert person. Pretty much only indulged at family gatherings. But now, oh my. And right now it's ice cream in particular. Last night I had a couple scoops of Ben & Jerry's Tonight Dough yumm. I'll need to try out banana "nice cream", which is a bit healthier!
  • I'm heading out of town for a long weekend in Phoenix to visit my bestie. She has plans to spoil my palette by attending a TACO FESTIVAL on Saturday!! A Taco. Festival. I'm packing TUMS and GasX in preparation of the overeating I'll be doing.
  • @newbabymama27 yum! I read that dates are fine during pregnancy! I've been loving Larabar's peanut butter chocolate chip bars.. they just have dates, peanuts, chocolate chips and sea salt in them! A good on the go option :)
  • @kboydbowman there is no evidence to suggest dates are bad for you early on in pregnancy. It’s all about moderation. You’re probably thinking about the old wives tale of eating dates near the end to ripen the cervix and help with labour. The suggestion there is to eat an excessive amount every day for it to help. I’m talking like 6+ large dates per day in the third trimester. I’m just going to make these as an occasional snack.

@lalarose22 yummm I want to get some of those too now!
  • @mnmomma84 I want a taco festival! that sounds amazing.
  • "Peanut butter chocolate Roll Ups"
I went to the grocery store in search of tortillas, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Roll it up and toss it in the microwave.. yummmmmmmm
  • You can Skip the chocolate melting and just pop some chocolate chips on those dates with PB if you’re looking for a quicker fix that’s delicious 🤤 . I believe there’s some evidence dates help to avoid going post date but nothing adverse about eating them throughout pregnancy.
  • Week 15 just started. I have been enjoying a Sander’s sea salt caramel a day in addition to my Yasso mint chip bar. Still no real craving for sweets. I put the caramels in the fridge to make them last longer.
  • I never thought I’d say this, but… I’m having trouble reaching my 2,200 calorie goal. I’m trying to eat as healthy as possible and those foods just aren’t super high in calories. What are your favorite non-junk ways to make up a calorie gap?
  • @JRae2015 I have to admit I totally fell for the ripening cervix thing with dates with my son and DID eat a lot of them in my third trimester. Was it “ripened”? No idea lol. But I was a week overdue and needed to be induced so I feel like it didn’t work 🤭 at least they’re yummy!
  • See, I hate dates. So the only reason I would be eating them is if they actually did anything. It's a texture thing. They taste fine, but I hate gummy squishy fruits. Figs are also evil.

  • @serenity_by_van Protein powder mixed into other things can be a good way to get a lot of Bang for a very little additional buck. GENEPRO is one of the better ones that doesn't taste completely disgusting.

  • @kboydbowman I never minded figs until I learned about how figs are pollinated - a female wasp buries inside of it, pollinates the flowers, and lays her eggs. The wasps from the hatched eggs tunnel their way out, and the body of the mother wasp is dissolved. Don't think I can ever eat a fig again  :s
  • nooooooooooo thank you.

  • @bigworldlittleg Oh. My. God. that is, so disturbing to me.
  • Not winning any health challenges tonight with my boxed Annie’s mac&cheese and chicken tender dinner but at least I steamed some broccoli to go with, right? 😅

  • I’ve been craving (more than usual) pickles, olives, capers - anything salty and vinegary. Then a few weeks ago I was at a cooking store that had sample of spicy Bloody Mary mix and wowee it was the most delicious thing! so I bought that and have been enjoying virgin bloody marys loaded with olives, lemons and pickled green beans
  • @kboydbowman I also have been on quite the kiwi kick lately. I ate them with Oreos the other day and boy was that delicious!
  • I think I just had the best pear I’ve had in my life. I need to go buy 10 more.
