Baby boy was hiding from the Doppler so I got a bedside US. perfectly wiggly and strong heart beat. He’s head down here. If you look in the background you can see a glimpse of me lol
Well the verdict is in! This wiggly baby who would not stop moving the entire appointment is... a girl! 💓 she is 15+3 and literally was doing some crazy poses during the appointment. This was the best headshot we got.
Hello everyone, new to this! 3rd time mum but older kids. I’ll be aged 41 by time I deliver and let me tell you this anxiety isn’t good! Im constantly worried about what could go wrong. Had my 12 week scan yesterday and I was in and out in about 5 minutes :( they measured NT fluid (which looked like a lot to me) but didn’t tell me measurement. Had bloods done and waiting on risk level for Trisomy issues . Anyone else feel this way? Here is a lovely picture of our little bean - looking healthy and heartbeat good 😊 :)
@lynnemek Hello! Welcome! Anxiety is so so normal. It’s normal to think of things going wrong. It can be hard to change your perspective to the things going right, but dwelling on those things will bring more peace. It’s hard to know you have little to no control over what happens and how things happen, but no matter which things go well and which things are difficult/go differently than planned, you will likely look back and wished you focused on the things that help put you in a positive mindset.
That may be putting affirmations on your mirror to read aloud to yourself “My body is made for this” “My body is my longest ally” “This baby is meant to be my son/daughter.” It may mean praying over your baby. It may mean telling yourself something you look forward to doing with the baby. Maybe it’s coloring pictures/writing notes for the baby with your kids. Don’t brush away actual fears-learn why they don’t have to be fears or how to combat them with affirmations and knowledge. If you feel like the anxiety is controlling you, please reach out to someone for a few counseling sessions. It’s important to know you are validated and not alone. Anxiety comes in different ways. We have the power to take back our joy when it creeps in.
The photo didn’t upload, but I’d love to see the baby-remember to crop out personal information! Despite a rushed appointment, A strong heartbeat is so reassuring! Results are hard to wait on, but often better than we expect. Stay strong!💕
12 Weeks today! The ultrasound went well yesterday. The baby kicked it’s legs and my husband got a video clip of that and the heartbeat. We wanted to be able to watch those back, and also play them for family when we announce. The heartbeat was 173 BPM again! Exactly the same for both appointments! We saw the spine really clearly too! After the ultrasound, my husband and I printed lots of photos to put in frames and cards for announcing to friends and family. I put this little frame on my dresser. My husband wanted a wallet size and he put it in the window where the driver’s license normally goes.😍 I also got him a larger frame for his desk at work, and he’s keeping it on his night table until we announce to family. We took photos in our “promoted to Mommy & Daddy” shirts with balloons associated to the baby’s gender after the appointment and ordered pregnancy announcements last night that we can mail out. I can’t believe it’s only 3 days until we get to tell my family!🥰
@meagan822 thanks so much for that. Yes I’m a little calmer I had a bad day I think. I figured after I write the post that I didn’t know how to upload photos - any advice would be fantastic :) thanks
@lynnemek if you check out the post “Read This First” it should have directions on there how to do it. I only bump using mobile and I’m not sure if you are mobile or on the computer. 😊
@lynnemek On my iPhone it works like this to add a photo. And when you select “choose files,” it’ll let you pick from photo library. As @mdfarmchick said, it depends a little on the device you are on. So the thread she mentioned has lots of helpful tips! 😊
I totally get having an off day! I tend to get emotional before bed if I haven’t had enough sleep and anything triggers it at all. Sometimes a good cry and sleep fixes everything!😅
Had a great ultrasound today! Baby girl was wiggling all over the place. The boutique I went to captured a ton of still shots, and recorded the whole session ❤ It was fun to play it back for my husband later (he couldn't go with).
Had our 12w1d ultrasound today. Both babies look healthy and we’re moving around a lot. HR were 164 and 167. NT screening looks good. Both kids had their legs crossed so we will have to wait for our NIPT results to find out gender. The OB wants me to come in every other week now for scans or Doppler.
@sarahdaley11 if you have the choice, I would opt for scans over Doppler. It looks like from your u/s that your twins are identical and since they share a placenta that comes with more risk, I personally would want the scans to see what was going on inside.

@sarahdaley11 I go every 2 weeks for scans. If your twins are mono/di like mine, there is a chance for twin-to-twin transfer syndrome, which can be dangerous. I feel a lot better each week when I go to the OB and see them individually and together. The scans are a little more invasive, but give me more peace of mind. I love the ultrasounds, ladies! Keep 'em coming!!!
@sarahdaley11 I am also having mono/di twins. Since so far everything is looking good and babies were same size ( and large) at 12 week scan. I don't go back until week 16. At that time I seem my OB as well as a maternal fetal medicine specialist who will be doing a thorough check to determine equal growth.
@coco2787 don’t worry we have frequent scans (in addition to the Doppler and ultrasounds) scheduled also! Booked out through April already. I’ll be there a lot lol
So, had a little scare with the doppler after searching and searching and not finding the heartbeat, so I was ordered an unexpected ultrasound. Little babe just wanted to be seen. Everything looks good, they even gave me a little wave!
@brittanynmorris my son does the same thing. They have yet to find him on Doppler. I hold my breath but then they easily find him with the US. very glad everything is ok

@sarahdaley11 Oh my goodness! The two of them in there together is so precious!🥰
