How did you find out: DH and I have been trying EVERYTHING to conceive since we tied the knot 6 months ago and blended our family, my 7 year old daughter and his 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter - in the end, 800000 positive pregnancy tests of every brand known to man was the confirmation
Tell us about yourself : I founded a community fueled nonprofit in my home town of long beach, CA prior to covid, but even with all the support of a small army, being a single parent in Los Angeles during pandemic just wasn't possible, so my daughter and I made the move to our new home (and eventually family) here in houston ❤
How are feeling: Got orders to stay on bed rest due to a small Subchorionic Hematoma, so...you know...feeling pretty lame, stressed, useless, scared, and still trying to navigate a mentally positive outlook - bed rest at 8 weeks just feels, shitty 😭
GTKY Fun fact: I'm half jewish and half old school italian, I'm superstitious about everything!! Grave yards, train tracks, ladders, mirrors, hell, sometimes I just make new superstitions up because it 'feels likely' and then lose track of the real ones (like, its NOT bad luck to use mix matched chopsticks, right???)
How did you find out? I visited the doctor and she asked, "You're not pregnant are you?" And I said, "Well, there's always a chance, but, most likely not?" But that question stuck in my mind so a couple days later I did a home test, and it was very positive.
Tell us about yourself I've been married to my husband for 11 years, we have three sons - 8, 6 and almost 4. Also two elderly chickens and two cats who turned 2 today. (I grew up with horses and dogs, so, go figure). I'm a SAHM and homeschool our boys, and enjoy dabbling in lots of artsy things.
How are you feeling? My first appointment isn't until I'm 10+1, and considering my positive test was before 4 weeks it has felt like a very, very long wait. I'm finally jumping in here anyways, because I'm tired of waiting. I had a mm/c last year (right when our local health care shut down to prepare for covid - I do not really recommend that timing). And that's definitely been on my mind considering I won't get a referral for a dating u/s until after that first visit, and our local health system still seems to be backed up, so I'm trying to prepare myself for a long wait. Feeling hopeful and positive atm though!
GTKY Fun fact: Not really superstitious, but I guess a little related: My ILs are trying to plan a trip to Disneyland with us, and since I have been pregnant every time I've visited for the past decade, I was joking with my close friend that I'd probably end up pregnant sometime this year. I took that test not even a week later, so, yes, it appears my streak continues.
@momsterpayne I’m sorry you’re going through that with the SCH. FWIW usually they go away without causing issues. I hope at your next appt it’s disappeared!
Due date? 4/30 but will be induced at 37/38 weeks.
How did you find out? I thought my period was late from being on a course of steroids. After being a week late when Im typically very, very regular, I took a test. Surprise!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I'm 35 and live in the Chicago area. I'm a pharmacist and have a son who is 3. I was on the bump with @doxiemoxie212 for that pregnancy and love the friendships formed here. My partner and I like to explore the city and find neat, new places-- although that has slowed down quite a bit since having a kid and then covid.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I'm feeling like total garbage most days. I feel best horizontal, but otherwise am tired and nauseous every moment I'm awake. Living on simple carbs since I hit 7 weeks. My first appointment isn't for 2 more weeks.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! I don't know if its a superstition, but I'm cautious about saying certain things outloud and putting them into the universe as to not "jinx" myself.
How did you find out? My husband and I weren’t trying but also weren’t not trying. Haha. A few weeks later Flo wasn’t here and I decided to test. The rest is history.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?). I’m a high school teacher in Pennsylvania. My husband and I have a daughter who is 3 (we had 2 losses before she was born). We have 2 cats and a dog.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) First appointment went well. Confirmed pregnancy. I have my first U/S Tuesday and I’d be kidding myself if I said I wasn’t nervous. I’ve had some spotting off and on, which has me on edge. I’ve been exhausted and usually spend my evenings feeling nauseous. Thankfully the daytime I tend to feel ok (because teaching while trying not to puke is no joke). Haha.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! Not so much a superstition, but I won’t walk into a room without reaching in to turn on the lights before I step inside. Weird, I know.
Introduce yourself: Hi Second time mom, I’ll be 35 next month so I guess that makes me old now in the pregnancy world!
Due date? April 19
How did you find out? We’ve been trying for almost 10 months, so I’ve been pretty in tune with my body. When my usual period symptoms didn’t pop up the week after ovulation, I had a good feeling. Faint positive a few days later and then retested and it kept getting darker!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) Married with one little girl, 2.5 years old. I teach ESOL to first and second graders. We live outside of DC, in Northern Virginia.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) So, I’m finally feeling excited! I had my first appointment today and TW, this come off the heels of an early miscarriage early last summer. I have been hesitant to join the boards, but I’m taking a page from MH and honing positivity and hope. Physically, I’ve been good. Exhausted, some nausea, hungry, serious cravings.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! Love this, I have lots of sports superstitions! Haha! For example, I played competitive soccer growing up, and one season I always ate the same breakfast - scrambled eggs and cinnamon toast. We won the regional tournament that year! Also, more recently, when the Washington Nationals were in the playoffs I drank a beer every game (that we won) and kept the bottle caps until we won the World Series. So yes, Nats fans everywhere you can thank me and my beer drinking habit.
How did you find out? I had a feeling I was pregnant before my missed period but waited to take the test on 8/13. I told my husband the night before I was going to take it and he woke up so much earlier than usual to see the result. We were both so happy and excited as we've been wanting children for a long time! 🥰
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner? My husband and I have been together for 9 years, married for 6. We have a cat named Pico who we adore. We are both in Marketing and incredibly fortunate to be full-time remote. I love reading, traveling, yoga, and knitting!
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) The nauseousness has eased up a lot by week 11. It was strong for a few weeks but I never vomited. I have Crohn's disease but the related symptoms have fortunately been almost nonexistent even though I didn't fully reach remission yet. Hoping it stays this way throughout!
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! I knock on wood so I don't jinx things when talking about them. I usually say it as a joke but I kinda mean it even if it's irrational 😂
I've loved following all your journeys and reading your updates so far! I'm an introvert and mostly just lurk but you all seem so nice that I wanted to join the convos!
@willowhisper I actually got 2 yolks the same day I took my positive test!! They only saw one at the 8 week ultrasound but they also forgot to check the heartbeat/heart rate. I'll see at my 12 week ultrasound if they missed one and let you know lol
Introduce yourself: Hello ladies! I'm Jenn - soon to be mom of 3
Due date? 04/25
How did you find out? Took a test just before 4 weeks
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) 6 year old girl and 4 year old boy. Blended family. Partner is Josh..he's an electrician and I work in digital for a large insurance company.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) So much throwing up and nausea but slowing feeling better
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! I live in Canada
Hi friends. Andrea here. 37 years old and first time pregnant. EDD is April 24th. Found out during an unexpected trip to my parents and had to rush 5 hours home to share the news with my DH. We started trying right away because I had read that older women may take longer to conceive. Well, we were married for 3 weeks when I got pregnant-much to our surprise! We praise God for this blessing! Had an ultrasound at 8 weeks which showed a heartbeat. Feeling tired and nauseous and useless, but keep hoping for the day it subsides. Mentally ok. Superstition? Um, I'm thinking it's a girl because I have been so sick. 🤷♀️ we'll see if that old wives tale rings true
My due date is April 19. I was feeling very tired and had cramps and very sore breasts. I was reluctant to take a test early, but as soon as I felt I should have gotten my period, I took a test. Husband and I looked at it together and found out at the same time. Both cried!
This is our first pregnancy (hoping for several more in the future)! I'm a freelance proofreader/copy editor. Husband is an engineer. I enjoy drawing, painting, photography, baking, crocheting, board games, and Stardew Valley (PC game).
Pretty mild symptoms: fatigue, HUNGER ALL THE TIME, queasiness if I get too hungry, a little heartburn, very sensitive to smells.
Me: 30 // Hubs: 31 Married May 2019 Baby #1 due April 19, 2022
welcome @missa_lyssa! I also love Stardew Valley! I play on both the PC and Switch. Switch is nice because I can lay in bed and play when I'm not feeling so hot!
@missa_lyssa@Blondesweety444 J love Stardew Valley! I grew up playing all the iterations of Harvest Moon and I just find it so relaxing. I play the iPhone app version when I need to just zone out and chill.
@missa_lyssa@Blondesweety444@aloha_mama I love Stardew Valley too! I haven't played in a long time but used to play it all the time. Such a fun and mostly relaxing game (except for the fishing parts).
Welcome @missa_lyssa! We share a lot of the same hobbies! And I'm in marketing so I do a lot of copy editing as well. And we might even share the same name...mine is Alyssa!
Also, @Blondesweety444@aloha_mama@constantinabee I love Stardew Valley too! I got my friend into when she got pregnant and she said she played so much and it was great to have while breastfeeding! If you haven't already, check out the Stardew Valley guidebook by Kari Fry. It's not only helpful but beautifully illustrated (and IMO beats having multiple tabs of the wiki open)
I got stuck after finishing the community center and didn’t know what to do next. But my friend just showed me this whole other island and millions of things to do. So I need to pick it up again!!
Hi everyone! I’m Britt. First pregnancy and I’m in my 30s. I’ve been in disbelief for a while now but it seems like I should probably start getting my mind ready for all this craziness so I’m glad I found this group!
My due date is April 23rd.
How did I find out? I was feeling just off I guess was the right word. I was getting ready for my bday weekend and thought I would take a test just to rule it out and then I could enjoy my mimosa guilt free. Needless to say, 3 tests later, here I am!
Tell us about yourself. I am a teacher and have been struggling tremendously to teach right now with the nausea. I have always been one to push myself to the limit but I have no choice now but to slow down. I have always been a big fan of working out as well but haven’t been able to do much of that for the past month…the extent of my workout right now is walking around the block. My husband and I got married in 2020 but decided to postpone our wedding. We did finally get to have our dream wedding in July. Luckily baby waited until after I wore that gorgeous wedding dress to show up.
How are you feeling? Extremely nauseous all day long and hoping and praying that it goes away soon. Other than that there isn’t too much physically except I get full so fast! If I eat a little bit too much at dinner I’ll be miserable for the rest of the night but if I have an empty stomach I get nauseous. Still trying to figure out the balance.
I’m not much of a superstitious person but I did notice someone said they check the showers when they go to someone’s house. I have to do the same thing every time I go in the bathroom! Even if it’s in my own house! I always thought it was strange but glad to know I’m not alone!
Anyway, I’m so excited to join in. Not exactly sure what I’m doing, but glad to meet you all!
Hi everyone! @brittybee23, you inspired me to finally introduce myself - I share lots of your same feelings of disbelief and I'm glad to have this group to sympathize with each other.
This is my first pregnancy and I'm still shocked! I have always wanted to be a mom but I guess it just feels unexpected now that it's happening. My husband and I just recently started trying to conceive and I was sure it was going to take a long time but it happened almost right away. So grateful we have 7 more months to prepare! If any STM+ have suggestions about what helped them prepare for their first baby, I would love to hear any tips and advice!
Due date? April 20
How did you find out? I was on a trip and assumed I was feeling off because of jetlag. I took a pregnancy test because I was attending a wedding and wanted to drink guilt-free. I misread the test (was assuming there would be a + sign but it was a double straight line) and casually said to my husband "nope, not pregnant....wait!" He is still teasing me about that.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) In my 30s, work at a non-profit organization, no pets, married, and we're both excited to be first time parents! Recently did a big move across the country and definitely feeling trepidation about being far from family and friends during this time.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) Starting to feel much better! Still more tired than usual and having a hard time getting food right - currently swinging between starving and too full and craving all the junk food but trying to eat as many vegetables as possible.
Superstition: I definitely knock on wood even though I know it doesn't mean anything. Don't want to take any chances! I'm also feeling superstitious about starting to share the news of my pregnancy more broadly - it feels like tempting fate to share it. We're waiting for NIPT results (blood draw was last week) before sharing. Have to work through that soon!
@hugsy44 Welcome! I think the prevailing feeling for all of us has been disbelief that we’re all here 😂 We have a great balance of FTM and STM+ so the boards all have a good amount of advice from the more seasoned mamas. I feel like we’ve already covered a lot of topics on the threads but there’s always more to get to. Just jump right in whenever you’re ready!
@hugsy44 I totally get what you mean about tempting fate to tell people about the baby. We are starting to tell people slowly and it does still feel risky every time but I am finally allowing myself to get excited about baby so I’m excited to be able to share that with friends and family as well.
@Blondesweety444, @aloha_mama, @constantinabee, @knitkiwi, Haha, I'm so excited that other people here like Stardew Valley! Hubs and I play together all the time. For some reason we've never had our characters get married though, lol.
@knitkiwi, mine is Alyssa too! Always fun to meet someone with the same spelling since there are about a million different ones, haha.
Me: 30 // Hubs: 31 Married May 2019 Baby #1 due April 19, 2022
Introduce yourself: My name is Stacy! I am going to be a first time mama in April 2022
Due date? April 26th
How did you find out? We have been trying since January 2021. Had a miscarriage in June and then got pregnant again in July. Tracked ovulation and took a test on my periods due date!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) My husbands name is Peter. We are both librarians and first time parents here. We have 3 cats - Ester, Squeaker and Cinderella. We love playing board games, hiking, yoga and cooking vegetarian dinners!
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I am an anxious person by nature and so after the miscarriage, I am feeling overly worried about everything but very excited at the same time. I have a wonderful OB/GYN and my appointments go well. I have had horrendous morning sickness (all day sickness) and vomiting. But I don't mind because I know that means everything is going well!
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! I I make wishes at 11:11
Good morning! My name is Crystal. I'm 33 and am 14w6d with rainbow. 1st DD was in Dec and this new one is April 18th (1 year and a day after my loss).
We started trying again once we got the OK from doc. I had 3 periods and felt a little more moody than normal PMS symptoms. Test positive right at 4w. I have a 15 yr old (acquaintances/co-workers are wondering why I took so long to have another... it just took me some time to find my person as I was 17 when I was pregnant with my son, Gavin and took precautionsbut the Lord decided I needed to calm/slow down apparently haha). I'm married to my best friend, have a handsome son and a sweet 3 yr old rott/German shepherd named Pebbles. Everyone here is so excited to welcome "Sprout" in April. We find out gender November 22nd so you'll see me use the nickname "Sprout" in posts.
I have some lucky clothing (things just seem to go great on those days haha),I knock on wood, and pick my feet up over railroad tracks lol. Lucky clothing items had been around ever since I started dressing myself and the other two started as childhood fun but kind of stuck
Hi, STM in the making I found out I was pregnant with #2 months ago but am just joining up now. My son will just turned 1 on Friday so I will hopefully be riding the crazy train with 2 under 2 for 6mo. It’s going to be hectic for a while but so fun to watch my kids grow up close.
I’m finally over the morning sickness, I’m 14+6 today, but just had a big bleeding scare a few days ago so I’m joining here for some support through what is now a high risk pregnancy. I had a partial placental abruption and the ultrasound at the ER showed I have placenta previa, baby seemed to be doing fine but with it being so early it’s basically a ‘wait and see’ situation. I am also ‘blessed’ with an anterior placenta so can’t feel the baby kicking.
I’ll be staying on team green, I did it with my son and it was such a good experience.
I hope to get to know you ladies better over the next few months or possibly years as our little ones grow up!
How did you find out - period was two days late and took a test. This pregnancy was a little unexpected so I sat with it for a few days before telling my husband.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) - I have a 5 year old daughter and a cat named Daisy. I am a graphic designer for a foundation associated with a big 10 university. My husband is Travis. We've been married for 11 years and together for 18 next month.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) - lots of mixed feelings about this. I am 38 and it's been much more challenging this time around. Constantly nauseous, lots of headaches, and dizziness.
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! - I always have to have the doors locked when I'm home. I guess that's one?
I’m late to the party here, and I’m sure I’m one of the oldest moms-to-be here, I’m 41 and expecting baby number 2, a boy, on April 12th.
How did you find out? We were trying for almost a year and ready to give up, so when I was a day late I didn’t get my hopes up, and so was completely shocked to see the positive test! (I despair at how much money I’ve spent on ovulation kits in that year! Hope this kid doesn’t like nice clothes!)
Tell us about yourself: I already have a wonderful three year old daughter. I work full time, from home since the pandemic began, not looking forward to returning to the office. Hoping to cut to a 4 day week after my maternity leave. Husband works in IT, also from home. I like running and just took up tennis before I became pregnant. Finding it hard to exercise at the moment, I don’t remember it being so hard the first time around.
How are you feeling? Tired and emotional but nausea is gone, finally! Lost my mom last year so worry that my grief will come to the surface in all the emotion of pregnancy and having a newborn. We found out through NIPT that all looks healthy, a big worry at my age so that was a great relief.
Tell us about a superstition you have: I’m not a superstitious person for the most part! I have some habits I guess, like always running on New Year’s Day… I guess that’s a superstition, that somehow the year will be positive if I start on a positive note?!
Learning so much from this forum already, so glad to have found it :-)
Hi everyone! I’m super late to this board but really looking forward to connecting with you all. My first BMB has been my lifeline throughout everything!
Due date? April 7
How did you find out? Was nauseous and we were trying, so no huge surprises. Fast forward to today and I’m still nauseous every day 😫
Tell us about yourself: I have a 20 month old daughter who keeps me on my toes! I live in the Chicago suburbs with DD and DH.
How are you feeling? Being pregnant with a toddler is no joke! No time to rest this time around, and my morning sickness is still in full force all day every day.
GTKY Fun fact: DD was born on Leap Day! Hoping for an April Fools Day baby this time around 🤪

I got stuck after finishing the community center and didn’t know what to do next. But my friend just showed me this whole other island and millions of things to do. So I need to pick it up again!!
Haha, I'm so excited that other people here like Stardew Valley! Hubs and I play together all the time. For some reason we've never had our characters get married though, lol.
@knitkiwi, mine is Alyssa too! Always fun to meet someone with the same spelling since there are about a million different ones, haha.
Married May 2019
Baby #1 due April 19, 2022
Due date? April 26th
How did you find out? We have been trying since January 2021. Had a miscarriage in June and then got pregnant again in July. Tracked ovulation and took a test on my periods due date!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
My husbands name is Peter. We are both librarians and first time parents here. We have 3 cats - Ester, Squeaker and Cinderella. We love playing board games, hiking, yoga and cooking vegetarian dinners!
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?)
I am an anxious person by nature and so after the miscarriage, I am feeling overly worried about everything but very excited at the same time. I have a wonderful OB/GYN and my appointments go well. I have had horrendous morning sickness (all day sickness) and vomiting. But I don't mind because I know that means everything is going well!
GTKY Fun fact: Tell us about a superstition you have or used to have! I
I make wishes at 11:11
We started trying again once we got the OK from doc.

Tell us about yourself:
I already have a wonderful three year old daughter.
Tell us about a superstition you have:
I’m not a superstitious person for the most part! I have some habits I guess, like always running on New Year’s Day… I guess that’s a superstition, that somehow the year will be positive if I start on a positive note?!
Learning so much from this forum already, so glad to have found it :-)
Due date?
*waves* Hi! Also from the Chicago suburbs. Welcome
