This came up in the newbie thread, and I can’t find any recent compilation. The older compilations have a lot of dead links.

For any longtime grads or lurkers, I’d love to know more about the mass exodus away from TB circa 2015/2016. Any links? I’ve heard others mention how wild it was & how things really changed after that, but have never had a clue as to what they were talking about. Thanks!

@keikilove TB really came down hard on censoring and moderating, especially in the Parenting board. It was one of the most active but they were shutting down threads and banning people like crazy. Now it’s ghost town in there. You can still see all the closed threads there. I think TB was going for a more happy and PG environment. It was a fun group though! Total shame.

@emmylou78 I sorta feel like that's what TB has done in last year or so as well. Certain things we did a few years ago were totes fine, and then suddenly they started warning and banning people for super basic GIFs and things in the past year or whatnot. (Sorry, my ability to tell time on TB is not so good. What seems like "a few months ago" is in reality a year ago and then I'm like "REALLY?!? That long???!!!")

@emmylou78 Well, that sucks. Other parts of TB could be so great & useful if there was any interaction at all. Sounds like it used to be... what a shame.

Edited to fix weird spacing. Never mind. Can’t fix it. TB glitches are so annnoying.

Not TTGP but this was a thread spiral. Anyone remember Larry Stylinson?? The best parts have been deleted (and you can def see how many users were banned or deactivated). That thread spanned months and I don’t know how many pages.

@keikilove I was on TB in the 2015 mass exodus era! It was pretty crazy. Like @chichiphin said, very catty. Everyone had a problem with everyone. A lot of people moved over to another board which is now defunct, and it ended up being a total dumpster fire as well. I wish I could remember more of the details. I actually had all of my content from then deleted because someone said that TB could use the info/pictures/etc. that you added to the boards. It was a weird time. (FWIW I also did a name change, because I realized my old username could totally be traced back to me lol🤦‍♀️)

@capnjackharkness For the record, when I posted this I originally tagged you in the description because I felt like you would have the best suggestions, but then I didn’t want to be a creeper haha. @fitzfizz I think we did a thread last year celebrating all of the bat$hit stuff that happened in 2019, including the unmasking of kels. And that was just the 2019 stuff. I've looked back into the earlier eras before a bit, but truly some of this is epic.

Just don't go back and look at the BMBs that were active when the Great Schism happened, it's just sad.

@keikilove to add to what others said about the mass exodus.... each board had mods that were just regular users, and TB brought in hired mods and the regulars weren't too happy about that.

@chichiphin is correct. There was a crazy catfish scheme involving a mod on May14. Basically, she collected a lot of money from her other board members to send a gift to another mom on their BMB that suffered a loss. She kept the money and only donated like $25. Here is the post about it. The OP is not the catfish. People were getting banned for call outs and this was the work around.

So then M14 called on parenting to come join the flaming and parenting called out m14 for bullying a mom on a previous post for calling out the catfish. They Basically defended the catfish not knowing how horrible they were. Parenting told them they should apologize leading to this post:

Then, things went really south. I don't remember all the details of the aftermath, but this was like close to the last nail in the coffin.

@artistlife Thank you for the backstory and the links. HOLY S**T storm! That entire situation seems insane and so so gross. I wonder what ever happened to the mod who stole the money. Karma must've gotten her bad.

@keikilove my understanding too is that it was a combination of factors.... I've been here since 2015, sort of on the heels of it. I believe people had already started to migrate from ttgp when I arrived, and then it came in waves of more people leaving thereafter. And/or leaving completely and not skirting both boards... I was not KU at the time, or even lurking bmbs, so I heard about it, but I was out of the loop with the catfish situation.

@meggyme OMG, I spent like the first month of the pandemic watching Youtube videos about women who are convinced that they've had "cryptic pregnancies" lasting years (now THAT is a weird/sad corner of the internet!). Amazing that there was a post about one on here.

@hedgehoggin there were a couple, but that’s the one that legit thought she was having one and she couldn’t possibly just be having a wonky cycle. Most of the others were mostly just curious and hopeful (I guess) that it was more common and they were actually KU.
