Trying to Get Pregnant

cryptic/stealth pregnancy?

Just read up on it, and I was curious if anyone had a critic pregnancy or has known of anyone who had had one? Also what did the doctor say about why the hcg didn't show up. I have pcos and I know that's a huge cause, and I think I might be expierencing one. I am going to schedule an ultrasound to check to see if I am or not. Regardless of my situation I'm really interested in the subject and would love to hear everyone's stories!
Thanks :)

Re: cryptic/stealth pregnancy?

  • I think I've heard it all now.

These conditions are very rare. I highly doubt you are experiencing such a thing. :-w

There are a lot of answers there.

  • Also-- because that article has some serious flaws--

1.) 9/10 negative means really, truly super-duper cereal not pregnant.

2.) above average stress can cause miscarriage, but the average woman is not living under that kind of duress.

  • Those home tests are totally lying to you girl! Start your registry and get that nursery theme picked out asap! I suggest a jungle theme.
  • Look, this sounds ridiculous...but if you really for some reason don't believe the HPT results, do not schedule a needless ultrasound.  Wait until you haven't had a period for 60 days and then call your doctor.  it's likely they will start with a blood test.  HCG will be in your blood if you are pregnant.  If the doctor truly believes you need an ultrasound, proceed...but be aware that even if you ARE pregnant, having an ultrasound before you are 6 weeks into the pregnancy won't show you anything.  So you may be jumping the gun here.
  • I would personally love a ninja baby! Where do I sign up? I too have a negative HPT. I think I'll run to babies r us this weekend and start my registry.
  • I've had a positive pregnancy test.
    Could I be pregnant?
I think it was lying to me.

  • Wow. Okay so first I'm not saying I'm pregnant I actually got the information from my doctors assesment. Second if you research cryptic pregnancies the first cause is pcos because of hormone imbalances. I was looking for information or people's experiences on the topic not sarcasm. It's a topic I wanted to know more about. For those who weren't in supportive thanks for your responses. Cryptic pregnancies are 1 in 475. I understand the rarity. I didn't expect this set of responses as it was just simply a question. Aren't we supposed to be supportive of eachother especially on this board and not violate rules of anti bullying? Sorry maybe I'm taking it to personally but I don't think it's very nice to mock anyone asking a question that follows the guidelines, if I see a post like such that violates the rules I ignore it, not make fun of the person.
  • I'm not asking about myself. I know what the likelihood is slim. I was asking for stories I think it's an interesting topic. I didn't come up with the term nor am I picking a jungle theme. I simply wanted to know if anyone else had heard of one I'm not asking for false hope.
  • You said you think that you might be having one and you are scheduling an ultrasound to check. So yes, you did indeed ask about yourself.
No shame in admitting that's what you meant.. shake it off and move on.
You did get some statistics/advice and yes some poked a little fun but please don't be overly sensitive. Had you lurked around you would've know this wouldn't have gone over well. Good luck.

  • Okay I didn't ask anything I stated that I might be expierencing one however I wasn't asking about it. I wouldn't ask on here I would ask my doctor and I'm not being overly sensitive when this board has people who don't find it funny to make fun of a question I came here for support of people who are in my shoes and so far from lurking I've found there aren't very many nice things said on any questions like mine about things that aren't common. It is a scientific occurance. I wasn't here asking for stories of virgin Mary getting pregnant. I'm sorry if this was something that was too funny to ask about, I was genuinely interested.

You got statistical evidence. It's unlikely you, or ANYONE on this board, is having stealth pregnancy. What more did you want? No one poked fun at you, they poked fun at cryptic pregnancies because they're funny.

Thing is @karlieboaz, you want support...but name one of use you've supported before coming and asking for yours?

And not only that, you didn't read the guidelines first.

@alex27 has all of the words

Seriously though - that's spelled out about as simply as possible. In order to get support, you must give support. Two way street and whatnot

  • I've never not been supportive. Sorry for creating such a commotion. I didn't say it's not kind of funny and interesting i just felt a little attacked. Maybe I am taking it to personally this has been a very long and hard journey and I really meant it as a simple question.

I'm sorry but cryptic pregnancy makes me think of pregnant mermaids and stealth baby makes me think of a ninja baby. How is that not hilarious to everyone? Maybe it's the fact that I'm in the middle of banana daiquiri #1 and banana liquor is 90 proof!

  • @Bheat14 - so not fair.  Still stuck at work and have this awesome wine slushy blend at home for tonight.  But you're right those are pretty funny.

Here's the thing, a double negative doesn't mean you've been supportive. It means you haven't been rude. And good for you, but the question was simple: why should you expect support when you haven't given it?
