@pickle-chips oh fun! I hope you have a great time/doze! I realized that we don’t have any pumpkins or anything yet. Idk when we’ll have time to get them lol. Oops.
My H and big kids have been gone all weekend on a camping trip. Idk when they’re going to get home but I’m excited to see them and hear about their weekend! (Which I think will be lack luster because it was COLD overnight in PA this weekend)
I hiked 10 miles yesterday and was finally hungry enough to eat soup and bread from Panera. I haven't eaten food in two weeks (other than berries and carrots) and was so happy.
Taught a fire making class this morning, which is always so fun for first timers.
This NFL season is so confusing. I swear the news said that the NE Denver game was postponed due to covid, but I guess they decided to play. I’m so glad to have some football to watch during nap time!
@MelissaMay82 go Broncos! ...not sure who you’re rooting for 😜
@pickle-chips a corn maze sounds great! We normally do that every year but this year is all pre-purchase tickets and we keep not planning far enough in advance so it’s sold out. Have fun!
Who all here is getting the flu shot this year while pregnant? Im getting mine this afternoon. Not looking forward to it 😕 I hate needles. Its mandatory for my job cause I work in Healthcare. I dont get a choice.
@hillbillywife that sounds like a nice potentially quieter weekend for you! Eh, pumpkins too early have will just go rotten before Halloween (that buys your more time haha). Our 3yo was just really keen on carving one this weekend.
@tilournextadventure 10 miles! I’m impressed (also tired just reading that 😅). Are you somewhere with cooler weather/changing leaves?
@MelissaMay82 I really wanted mum’s this year for our front step, but I think we missed the boat. Most of the ones left at any local shop are a bit overcooked and sad. I’ll just have to admire all the ones in our neighbourhood.
Our morning adventure was a success! We picked way too many apples, ate way too many apples, rode a tractor (well, a wagon pulled by a tractor), chased our 3yo through the apple orchard, I dozed not at all in the car, but it was still fun. Kiddo 2 covered in mud in the apple orchard. Kiddo 1 living his best life.
@mindyb2019 I got mine a couple weeks ago when it came out. I hate needles too 😫Last year I got it at 7 months preggo and at the same time as the whooping cough one. One on each arm.
@mindyb2019 yeah, I got mine about a week ago after my first set of betas. I'm not a huge fan of needles but this one really wasn't too bad. I usually have quite a bit of soreness the next day and this one didn't even leave me sore.
@pickle-chips im getting mine at shoppers too 1 hour till count down lol Love the pictures. Omg it looks like Beautiful weather there. I'll trade ya 😆 its rainy and gross here.
@mc0303 Eeeee..one in both arm? Ouch! 😖 Ya no thanks. The worst needle I've ever had in my life was the needle in the abdomen earlier this year for the amniocentesis. That was horrible. Sadly that pregnancy didn't work out
@klj0228 They are doing the shots at my work too on Oct 27th and I wanted to get it done then but cant, as they won't have the flu shot for pregnant women to give me so I have to go somewhere else. It's prob for the best anyways as no one knows im pregnant yet lol
I’m getting a flu shot. It’s mandated at work for me as well, but I’d have gotten it anyway. I’ll take the the flu shot over rhogam any day! Pro-tip: they can now deliver Rhogam via IV, so if you’re in for fluids around that time or after delivery and have to have it, see if they will give it to you with the IV. Life changing!

Ohh I'm glad you asked about the flu shot @mindyb2019! I was just wondering this yesterday and was going to ask my Dr if I could get it this early on. I get it every year- I have weekly interactions with 450+ kids during the school year and get EVERYTHING they have lol - although who knows what this year will be like with hybrid school and masks!
@artsiefartsie yes there is a special flu shot for pregnant women. The difference the dr told me was that the one for pregnancy doesn't have any preservatives in it. Thats the one I got.
@disgruntled_pelican I dont even know what Rhogam is? Lol what is it for and what does it do?
@pickle-chips The flu shot went pretty good. The girl that gave it to me was pretty good at it. My arm is not that achy so far actually which is good. I hope it stays this way. I even got a special shoppers drug mart band-aid 😆
@mindyb2019 it’s for women with an RH negative blood type, to prevent their bodies from creating antibodies against RH positive babies. When there is a potential for exposure of fetal blood with mother’s blood it is administered and as a precautionary around 30 weeks and after delivery.

@mindyb2019 I got my flu shot yesterday, my RE told me it was safe to get one at any stage of my IVF process but I just finally got around to it. The NP asked if I could be pregnant and when I told her I was, she said she would give me the kind that was safe for pregnancy, I had no idea that any weren’t but I guess it’s good they ask!

@legallykate Thats good you got it yesterday and that they asked if you were pregnant. I didnt know there was one different for pregnancy either untill I had my first pregnancy(MC) and had to get a flu shot at that time and the Dr told me there was a specific one for women who are pregnant.
My appointment went ok today. No ultrasound because they said they wouldn’t be able to see anything. I was kinda upset about that but I’m ok. More blood draws to see how my HCG is rising.
Oh and I guess most importantly they were able to successfully remove my iud. It was very low in my uterus. The OB was able to grab it by the bottom of the plastic part so that’s how I was able to get pregnant.
@hillbillywife glad they were able to get it out! I forget, how far along are you? From what my drs have said in the past it's difficult to see anything before hcg is at 10,000 and/or 5 weeks, and even then it's just a fetal pole/sac before 6 weeks.
@_orchid_ I’m not 100% sure but I’d guess somewhere between the 19th and 23. I knew I probably wouldn’t see anything. Idk I just wanted them to be able to do more I guess lol
Wood hoo!! I had another beta done this morning. Just got back the results and I coukdnt be more happier or relieved. On Friday it was 7,433. 3 days later its at 14,575. Yesss!!! Still going strong and looking good. My betas now will be once a week moving forward. I was having bad anxiety today and had a bad feeling about something and I dont know why. I was anxious for the numbers but so glad they proved those feelings wrong. 😃
Maybe this should go in the questions thread? but it seems too random so i'll ask it here.
what are your thoughts on sushi?!!? we ordered vegetarian sushi tonight, but i've read that even ordering cooked or non fish shushi could be contaminated due to cross contamination. I'm kind of like...meh it will be fine, but curious what your thoughts are?
@emwj10187 I'm in the camp that if it isn't raw and it is prepared by a trustworthy restaurant it is as safe as any other food. That's what my docs have always told me.
