I cut open one of DD's bath toys and it was disgusting. I guess I need to replace these every so often. It grosses me out because she loves sucking the water out of the toys.
You can clean them with rubbing alcohol. Squeeze as much water out as you can and then suck in some alcohol and shake it around. Then squeeze it out as much as you can. But I think that's only before they mold. I used to clean them with bleach water but I don't think that necessarily helps with mold either.
Ugh, "sucking the water out" - made me cringe. We have 3 rubber duckies, we got as gifts and I cut large holes in the bottoms early on, when I saw postings about this before. Problem with that is they don't float that way. I also heard hot gluing the hole works great too. Wished I had read that first. Happy cleaning!
I checked one of them originally because I could tell there was a dark spot on one of them. I have cut them all open and they were disgusting. DD loved the squirting toys but we are going to switch over to some of the other toys people have suggested.
I just sliced open the bellies of all our bath toys. Luckily no mold! (And they are still mostly functional with their bellies cut open. They won't squirt, but they still float.)
