@lindsaym2106 I agree that Harper Grace is super adorable!
Right now, I am leaning towards Ruby or Lucy for a first name, with Anne as a middle name since both of our moms have Anne as their middle name. I already have a Charles Edward, Vera Grace and Clara Marie. I tend to like old fashioned names that don’t lend themselves to nicknames, as I don’t like my own nickname so much. And all of the middle names are family names. Any thoughts?
@dobiemom11 my husband was only suggesting NBA players names for awhile there.... i.e. Lebron haha. I ended up making a list of my top 10 names and writing it on our white board. The next day 2 of the names were erased... that started the conversation for us 😂
@readermom1 I love all the names you've picked, new baby and older kids! I tend to like the same names but we very intentionally stayed away from family names and it eliminated a lot for us.
@dobiemom11 we just started a name list on a sheet of paper and looked at it together about once a week. We could add anything anytime but only eliminate when we were looking at it together and if it was a hard no. As an example: hubs suggested the name "Royal" which was a hard no for me, I suggested "Alex" which was a hard no for him, but other names that started with a "not my favorite" or "I don't love it" were written down.
Eventually it evolved to a list of potential first and potential middle names. After a month or it whittled down pretty fast as some names that seemed like an option just didn't feel right anymore. We did this for the last baby also and it worked well.
We started with an app that synced up our choices this time. We didn't find our name through the app, but it did start the conversation. And then I started using random names I liked in conversation about the baby to get a reaction and DH would either say he didn't like or maybe until we found one. We are still discussing middle names though because i'm not sold on what has been chosen.
@readermom1 I don’t think you can go wrong either way, but Ruby Anne sounds more Golden Age of Hollywood to me, which I love, and it’s less common in my experience!
We found out we are having our third boy! So excited! Can I bother you ladies for any input on the name we've chosen?
Our first boy is Kellan James Our second boy is Cole Daniel This baby will be Jude Ross
Ross is my dad's name and I just found the name Jude and loved it.
Kellan, Cole and Jude.
Any red flags? Anything bad about it?? Lol I'm already nervous about Jude that people will think of Judas and I don't want people to think of my baby betraying Jesus lol! Is that just me overthinking? Lol
Thanks if anyone has any input! Third boy name is hard!
@elmich3 Jude is one of my favorite names!! It's not on our list for a couple of reasons, but I would totally shortlist it if those things were different. I don't think Judas at all. If anything, I think Beatles. Perfect name ❤️
@elmich3. I love the name Jude. I was thinking of St Jude and then the hospital. Also I think the little boy on the show Fosters is named Jude.
I was tossing around the name Benedict, but wasn't sure if people would think of Benedict Arnold. I like that it can shorten to Ben, but is not Benjamin. Not sure what the hubby thinks though. I made a list of my favorites and left it around for him to see and comment on. So far nothing!
@the_road_to_oz. I like the hyphen better than without the hyphen. The second way has the two distinct names blended in a way that might make it difficult for people to pronounce. Any ideas on how hyphenated names get handled with government documents and databases and the like? If that would cause an issue, then that might be something to think about.
@the_road_to_oz Def the hyphen. People get scared of long names or lots of letters and then don’t even try to sound them out (happens with my last name all the time) so you’d probably get people mispronouncing or avoiding saying it all the time.
@dobiemom11 my mom is Mary-Ellen and government documents are fine but she has had other things screwed up her whole life- which is why my dad brought it up and had me second guessing! She was “Mary” at work for like a year because they kept forgetting to redo her name tag and did it wrong when she showed up. Claire is for my grandma and my other “grandma” (she’s technically my great aunt) is Ellen.
We think we are going with Ruth or Ruthie for a middle name.
@the_road_to_oz definitely go hyphen. We have a hyphen kiddo and I’m glad because people do want to shorten it and if you plan to call her Claire Ellen then it reiterates that both are her name. We have a next door neighbor who gets so frustrated when people don’t call her daughter by her first and middle name - she wishes she had hyphenated.
Spelling questions- her name will be Claire Ellen (all one name) Claire-Ellen or Clairellen ?
I’m leaning towards the hyphen.
Why not just 2 first names, with no hyphen ? Like Jo Ann or Mary Jane. When you write it on school forms just put both names on the first name line and the middle name on the 2nd name line? My mom is a Jo Ann and has never had a problem with her name being shortened or confusing people.
@the_road_to_oz I don't have any suggestions, but I kinda agree with @babymakes9. I know a lot of 2 first name people without a hyphen and it works just fine! Not sure how they've dealt with it all growing up, but if I'm introduced to someone as Mary Ann, or Ann Marie, I know that's their name preference.
Another name question. DD's name is Claire. H came up with the name Rhys or Reese for baby boy. Which I liked! Until I thought of the two names together...Clarice....from silence of the lambs...haha Just not sure how I like the sound of the two of them together...and not sure if I'm just overthinking it all because we're having so much trouble with a name.

@bearmomma1 You could just always make it a point to say “Rhys and Clare” haha. But I think since you’ll have always have an “and” between them it’s ok!

silence of the lambs is an excellent movie. I also think Clarice is a beautiful name. And I like her character in that movie 🤷♀️
