I’m not much help for boy names.. I have no clue what we will name baby if a boy. My husband has mentioned Lucas and Christian. I don’t dislike them but there is no boy name that excites me the way my daughters names did and the way all the girls names on my list do.
I have a Hannah and Isla. If this baby is a girl my top names are Julia, Leah and Emily. I also love Serena but hubby doesn’t.
I better have a girl because my name list for baby girls is a mile long compared to boys haha. It will be a tough choice to narrow it down to just one I like lol there all so pretty.
@girlmama83 I agree with you. There's no boys names that really excite me the way girls names do on my list. Isla is a pretty name.
i love I love Sophia for a girl and jack for a boy! Very simply. DH likes them too. Not sure if we will stick with either once we find out the gender though lol
We won’t talk names until we know the sex of the baby. I have a short list of boy names I like and we have 2 names still from when I was pregnant with DD that will go back on a short list of we are having another girl. If we have a boy middle name will be James.
Really hoping this one is a boy because we're set on our boy name - Oscar Whitman L.
If it's a girl, she will also have Whitman as mn, but haven't decided on an O name we love. Ora is a family name, but that would make her Ora L. Oral. So we're back to the drawing board. Maybe Olivia, or Olive. Maybe Olympia. Probably nn of Ollie with any of those three. Definitely open to hearing other O girl names, though I feel like I've seen them all.
DD is Juniper (nn June) Harriet L. DS is James Arthur L but he goes by his mn. So we have a June/Juniper and an Arthur and hopefully an Oscar.
We’re set on Samuel Thomas if this is boy #2 (family names). Girl names are a whole different ball game. I have a long list going but we probably won’t really discuss it until after the anatomy scan.

We haven’t even thought closely about names because after having 3 kids I feel like I’ve heard them all. We currently have Ezra Dean Elias Parker Lola Jane We only really agree on Rowan for a boy name at this point but we are sold. My husband really like juniper NN Juno for a girl. I like it alot but it just doesn’t seem right for this baby. I’m not certain about anything right now and we aren’t finding out the gender so hopefully I can get the motivation to search soon. Lol
We already have a boy, Benjamin Frederick. Mostly I've been thinking of girl names BUT I don't like girly names at all. I want a unisex name if it's a girl. Emerson Astrid is my pick (and DH knows better, as long as he doesn't hate it it's my choice). Potential boy name: Harrison Maximilian.
My family has been all J names for five generations, so I feel like we need to keep that tradition. My husband's name is John, but he goes by his middle name. For a boy, we would probably do the same thing. No ideas on a girl's name. It is hard to find unique names with so many of us. (P.S. most of the family also married people with J names, so the tradition continues.)
My husband has always said, even since we were dating, that he wants to name our son Raylan after the character Raylan Givens in the show Justified. I always assumed this was a joke, but turns out he’s very serious about it. I’m not a fan of the name at all, so imagine this will end up an argument at some point. I’m trying to avoid it until i abs have to tell him it’s never going to happen. I’ve got a list of names (below, and I’ve showed him) - but my husband refuses to entertain any of them. First - because he won’t acknowledge that it’s possible we’re having a daughter, and Second - he’s super serious about wanting to name our kid Raylan. Any advice BTDT moms have on how to have the conversation about vetoing names would be helpful!
Girls: Charlotte, Edie, Reese, Jane, Willa, Isla
boys: Charles, Duke, Hayes, Lawson, Mitchell
several are family names, so I would ideally like to include a family name as first or middle (or both!)
I love talking and thinking about baby names. I have Emmett James and Penelope Jane (Poppy).
We’re pretty set on Jeremiah Joseph (JJ) for a boy. For a girl, I really like Beatrice, and calling her Bea. BUT, since we unintentionally gave both kids J middle names, we think we should stick with another J middle name. I worry that kids would make fun of her initials BJ. I would probably choose Joy, since my best friend just used June for her daughter, which was pretty much the only other J name I liked. Also, would it be weird if our first 2 kids have family names as middle names but not the third?
@shelmcclel Could you tell your husband that you’re willing to use Raylan as a middle name if he lets you choose the first name? I think it would with any of the names you listed.
We haven’t started discussing names yet but will probably start after I have my initial scan.
Our son is Benjamin... his name wasn’t even one of the options we considered! We had narrowed it down to two choices, Charles/Charlie and Samuel, with Charlie being our favorite option. Then MIL shares a very private but legitimate reason why she did not like our favorite choice (a story not even her husband of 40+ years knows) so even at the hospital after he was born, we had no idea what we were going to call him. It took until our second day after he was born to finally land on our choice! He just didn’t “feel” like the other names we had considered after we held him! So we will probably try to leave it at a couple options again this time as well.
I have a Cora Jean and Asher Jay. For a boy I like Eli, Ellis, Miles, and Wyatt. Middle name TBD but would be a family name. Girls I’m liking Adelaide, Claire, and Emme/Emmeline. Middle name potentially Ann.
We've decided on Sarai for a girl and Mathias for a boy. Middle names are harder
@Hetta05 we really like Miles too but I don't want to Ms Mathias Miles. Nah but Miles was a choice for us. I personally like Wyatt as well but my s/o didn't care for it. Elias idk if that's how you would do Ellis but that was another choice for us lol.
We have a boy named Oliver. We came to that decisions very quickly once we heard that name. New boy names have been hard, nothing is as good to us, so far we have Owen and Ashton. I think Owen is the front runner. For a girl we are set on Mia, I heard it while we were trying and told DH and he was in love too.
My husband actually wanted to use our sons middle name as this child’s first name if it was a boy. I said no, even though I also love the name.
We already have Henry Vincent. If it’s a girl we are naming her Emilia Claire. If it’s a boy..... who knows lol. We only named our son Henry because it was the ONLY name we could agree on lol.
@shelmcclel my fiancé and I argued so much about our sons name. Mostly because I didn’t like any of his favorites. And when I say we argued he is the one who would get pissed off, lol. So I just started a list and didn’t veto any of the names he liked and I hated. We would occasionally go over the list and I would always add any name he suggested. We eventually agreed on a name. But after I stopped outright vetoing his choices he was calmer.
I have such a hard time with girl names it isn’t funny!! I feel like the names are either overused or too unusual! Not many boy names I love either. I currently have a Madden, Calla, and Flynn.
some girls names I like but most probably hate : Winnie/winslet, Prue, Ophelia, Delia, Eden, Lyra (hubs favorite), Ellowen
boy names: Niven (another choice by dh), Gideon, Leland,
@shelmcclel My husband really wanted the name Vincent for a boy, but I HATE it. I know it's a perfectly good name, but the idea of a kid being called "Vinny" just sounded terrible to me. I tried SO hard to like the name but just couldn't get on board with it (hence the handle that I have for this board). I just told him a while ago that I didn't like it and didn't want a son with that name. I think he was disappointed, but he eventually got over it. I didn't make a big deal about it, and I think he realized that it wouldn't be fair to try to push it if I weren't on board. I said it could be okay as a middle name, but I'm not even really a huge fan of that. We'll see what first names we come up with.
As for other names, we've created a list but haven't agreed on many. We just haven't talked about it too much given what happened last time with our loss. We both like Charlotte, but I worry it's too common now. I really like Penelope, but I don't think I can get him on board with it. He likes names that have an obvious meaning (Journey, Trip, Melody), but I'm not as sure about those. Basically, we aren't anywhere close to agreeing. We already have a Zachary (nn Zach) and Anna. I like names that aren't the most common but aren't so out there that people haven't ever heard about them or couldn't spell them. Like everyone else, I have a million girls' names (Piper, Sarah, Erin, Naomi, Cora) but few boys names.
@shelmcclel my husband wanted a Kristina cause his dad was pressuring him to name after his aunt and all I said was "you already half named all of our kids." He was like "huh?" And I said yeah, they all are gonna have your last name, heck so do I, so it only makes sense I have the final say for the first name. He was over the moon with every name I chose after that. No Kristinas.
We have a Langley Evan and an Ireigh (I-ree) Madison...so we're having a hard time with names! We like unique but not so unique that we get a look when someone asks their name. We have achieved this so far...lol
For a boy we are very much considering Calvin and we like Emmet a little bit but I don't think we'd go with it.
For a girl, we haven't found anything yet. Thankfully, we have a while yet!
For the O names for girl, maybe Opal or Ola (like hola in Spanish).
We have a long, apparently complicated last name. (I don't think it's that crazy but the world around us seems to disagree.) As such, we stuck to shorter first names for our first 2.
Plus, there are some other simple stipulations. No family names because he's not particularly close to his extended family and my family is terrible about overusing some but ignoring others. No crazy spellings (last name is enough). Preferrably nothing that gets shortened to a nickname. We also named our first two for people who made a difference in the world and feel like we should do the same again.
Our 2 boys are: Jack Wesley Owen Mitchell
We chose to wait until birth to find out gender, so our girl name has been picked out but unused for about 5 years - Abbey Lee.
Boy names are a bit of a struggle. Hubs has been pushing something with the nickname Max, I am not a fan of Max or any variant that would get us there
So far we have a long list of very tentative maybes, as in neither of us will firmly veto anything unless we absolutely can't stand it, but some of them would be a stretch...
@sejica we have Opal and Olga as family O names. Per tradition my older sister should have been Olga, but my mom was too afraid she would be made fun of. That said, in high school I had a friend named Olga and no such thing ever happenex.
We like the names Hank or Troy for boys. We have three girls already, so it’s getting harder and harder to choose. I REALLY like Noelle for a girl, Christmas time name. I tried talking my husband into it 4 years ago, maybe he’ll come around this time 🤞🏼
My husband and I were SET on names back in December before I miscarried.
Girl: Coral Nicole or Evelyn Ceili
Boy: Samson James
Now that I'm pregnant again I'm having second thoughts but he is still set on those names. I think I worry too much about what family will think of Samson and Coral but I like how unique they are. Also like the boy name Dominic.
@sejica I love Oscar! My cat is Oliver so I’m afraid O names are out for me. I also like Orson. olive is such a sweet girl name...live the nn Oli.
We are going with with Calvin, Arthur, or Walter.
@willashbaby I love the name Emerson, SO not so much lol
@BmcD2016 I keep mentioning Noelle to SO and he just side eyes me but I really love it!
We are team green and we've really only discussed names a few times. If this time is anything like the last two it's gonna be a while till be decide. My gut is saying boy and SO is leaning towards girl. Thankfully we have a ways to go yet! Haha
Re: Baby Names
I have a Hannah and Isla. If this baby is a girl my top names are Julia, Leah and Emily. I also love Serena but hubby doesn’t.
@girlmama83 I agree with you. There's no boys names that really excite me the way girls names do on my list. Isla is a pretty name.

Malachi or Mkai for a boy. I'm also loving Enaya or Imani for a girl.
Unique but also have great meanings. The meaning of the name is very important for my husband so any names with amazing meanings, let me know! Hehe
