I have been checking out stroller/wagon options for a baby and a big kid. My son is a tall 3 year old but we always put him in a jogging stroller for walks still. I don’t want a classic double stroller because he’ll be almost four when baby comes and i don’t think it’ll last. Does anyone have any experience with the strollers with a standing or sitting board for an older kid? Or a double wagon with an infant seat attachment option? Just trying to see the pros and cons of each. We love walks around the neighborhood and I want to get back to them soon after the baby is born!
@surlyjaneausten I am thinking of getting the Graco Roomfor2 Stand and Ride stroller. DD is 5 but I want to have the option for her to hop on the stroller when we do disney world trips because I am not willing to listen to the whining about having to walk - I already have to listen to hubby whine about walking. Lol
@surlyjaneausten not quite what you're asking, but I'm planning on baby wearing as much as possible so DS1 can still use the stroller for neighborhood walks. Might be something to consider
@surlyjaneausten what kind of stroller do you have now? I know the uppababy models and the Bumbleride indie have toddler board add ones that can be purchased separately and have great reviews! But both of those are on the higher end of pricing which is womp.

@surlyjaneausten I’ve really liked the uppababy vista with the step up. Our crew are tall as well (DH is 6’5” and I’m 5’2” haha). The kids are getting long for the seats but they’ve dealt. If you’re asking if kids use a step up...ours love it. After a long walk they’re very much into the step up. You said you’re not looking for a classic double so this isn’t probably for you? But the step up function has been a life saver. So a sit stand type stroller in my mind would be awesome. Granted in a pinch we use our single BOB and let the 4 yr old sit on the front when she’s tired.
How much weight are people gaining? I'm almost 16 weeks and only gained 2.5lbs so far... Is that normal? I did loose a bit in the first trimester because I felt so naseausous, and I'm probably leaning towards the heavier side of normal to begin with (gained 20lbs from fertility treatments over the last 2 years)... But I figured I would have gained more by now!
According to my OB today I have gained 6 pounds ish... I could've sworn it was more than that, lol! But she said that usually most of the weight we gain is during third tri.
@mia80 I'm 17w and I gained 12 lbs. I think a "minimum" at 16 weeks would be 4 lbs starting from a "normal" BMI (18-25). I think this can also easily vary from one person to another though. I suppose some gain faster or slower at different point during their pregnancy.
@mia80 I think the general guidance is 0-5 lb in the first trimester and then about a pound per week thereafter. I’ve personally only gained about 2 lb so far at 15 weeks, when measured first thing in the morning, but my weight can fluctuate more than 2 lb just during the day!
@mia80 I gained 8 lbs by my 12 week appointment. More than I did last time around but I couldn’t stop eating, I was starving! My hunger has leveled off a bit so hoping for a slower gain during the second trimester.
If you're concerned about weight then I would talk to your doctor. FFC I find weight discussions here yucky. A lot of people struggle with weight issues and I think that comparing weight gain to others during pregnancy is just going to make people feel bad about themselves. All of us are different and have different bodies and health histories. Some women naturally gain less while others gain more during pregnancy. Just like some women swell really bad while others don't swell at all. 🤷♀️
Thanks ladies... Sounds like almost anything can be considered normal for weight gain!
@dumbledoredies Fair enough! Sorry, I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad, I had just seen a couple people post how much weight they'd gained and was worried because I haven't gained as much. I have a history of miscarriage and this is the farthest I've ever made it so I'm nervous about everything!!! Definitly will ask my OB next time I see her, but just wanted an idea of what might be normal.
@mia80 I've also had a history of MC so I completely understand worrying about everything! They recommend gaining between 25-35lbs during pregnancy. I don't think it necessarily matters when you gain it but the most weight gain happens in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.
@dumbledoredies I feel ok for a couple days and then I start getting paranoid and look for things going wrong... I'm considered high risk so luckily I've been able to see my OB every two weeks, otherwise I'd been a complete basket case!! (although I basically am anyways! 🤣)
@mia80 I’m so glad you spoke. No questions are dumb. Seriously. I’ve gained somewhere around 5-7 lbs. As long as your doctor isn’t concerned, keep on fighting! I know I’m a basket case when there isn’t morning sickness anymore and I can’t feel kicks yet. Just wanted to say listen to your body and if you’re concerned always ask.
@lalarose22 I'm 13 weeks and have noticed my energy starting to come back! I no longer require 2 naps/day 😅😅😅 I'm a firm believer of "every pregnancy is different", with my first I had morning sickness up until I had DS and completely missed the "feel good" 2nd trimester 😅
@dumbledoredies I love everything you said. The weight talk here, so far, hasn’t bothered me but at the same time I have seen those kinds of convos make people feel bad or make people come off wrong because you can’t get tone over the internet so I 100% appreciate a group reminder that we are all different and that talk of weight can be a real trigger for people.
@mia80 I totally get it. I stress about weight in general when not pregnant so I can only imagine the added concern if you’ve had a history of MC. Sending you hugs!
I had an appointment with my OB and she said basically anything can be considered normal this early. So that was a relief. Although she also mentioned that I may want to look into counselling because I'm having a lot more anxiety than normal. And a lot is to do with my history of infertility and MC.
I personally have triggers for what a lot of people post, and didn't realize that asking about what others had gained would be an issue. I have struggled with my weight most of my life... But it's a big part of pregnancy so I thought it was ok to ask. I will try not to post anything going forward as this probably isn't the right forum for me.
@mia80 I am glad you got some reassurance from your OB! I suffer from anxiety and as a FTM often am worried about whether or not I am doing things right, etc. with this pregnancy. Counseling has been awesome for me in the past and I absolutely recommend checking it out if you think it could be helpful!
I also want to say that I don't think anyone was upset at you for asking, they were most likely just speaking in general. I think the worry is that weight gain varies widely and is a very sensitive topic, so it is easier to avoid discussing it at all in hopes of not accidentally making someone else feel bad about themselves. I hope you stay with us and continue to post!
@mia80 I'm sorry you're feeling like this. I have a history of MC as well and it seems at 16 weeks I finally started to have less anxiety. I'm the type to Google any down side to any good news I receive... I don't really have any advice for you to start feeling better, I'm sure different things work for different people. What may have worked for me was starting to really celebrate this pregnancy even if it meant faking it sometimes. At some point I eventually convinced myself 😊
@mia80 hugs ❤️ Did your OB have any recommendations for a counselor? That could be very helpful. I know for me the AS Scan at 20 weeks always helps me, I know that's a few weeks away. Personally, I think it is totally fine to ask weight questions on here, it's a concern a lot of us have and hearing the variance can be helpful. Maybe just put a warning as it could be a difficult topic for some and they can choose to skip it.
@mia80 I don't think you should leave just because I pointed out that weight discussions can make people feel bad. There's no issue with asking a question that you have. My point was that in pregnancy there is such a wide variance in what people gain and if one person hasnt gained any weight that's probably going to make someone else who has gained say 10, 20, 30 pounds feel like they are doing something wrong. When in reality it might just be how their body is responding to pregnancy. You're allowed to ask questions and I'm also allowed to point out that it could be triggering to some. That's just my opinion. Not everyone will agree.
@mia80 feel free to ask any and all questions. That's one of the wonderful things about this community. Some people are more sensitive towards certain topics but that doesn't mean they can't be discussed.
I've gained about 4 pounds, my friend who is due a week later has HG and lost close to 20 lbs. So yeah it varies
New question for you ladies - are some of y'all having your appointments changed to phone appointments still due to COVID? I have only had one in person appointment with my midwife team so far, and that just seems so odd to me. If I hadn't done the sequential screen testing, I wouldn't have seen or been checked up on since 8 weeks. Is this typical? My next appointment is the AS on 6/24 at 20 weeks and WILL be in person. Reminder, FTM here.

@lovelee3 I think it's pretty normal these days. My midwife told me if I didn't have high blood pressure that she wanted to monitor that they would be skipping appointments and just seeing me every 8 weeks, or maybe more. They're delivering test results and doing check ins by phone.

@lovelee3 On my end, we replace the appointment with my doctor by a phone appointment when I have an ultrasound. After the 20 week ultrasound, my doctor said we would reevaluate if we will keep skipping an appointment depending on if I can have blood pressure taken at home and weigh myself, if everything keeps going well for this pregnancy obviously.
These were my appointments so far 4 week: in person 6 week - no appointment but that's when the covid measures started 8 week : ultrasound 8 week: in person 12 week: ultrasound 13 week: phone appointment 17 week: in person 20 week: ultrasound scheduled 21 week: phone appointment scheduled
@lovelee3 My doctors are doing a dating scan around 8w, another ultrasound around 16w, then the AS at the hospital (not with doc) around 20 weeks). I think a handful of the appointments are being switched to Teledoc appointments. The appointments with no ultrasounds. They are definitely trying to see people in person less but they have been great when I've needed to get in for issues.
@mimser wow! That's a lot.... I had one in person ob appointment at 10week and have a phone call at 16 weeks but no in person appointments until 28 weeks... good thing I bought a doppler and bp cuff!
I’ve had a lot of in person appointments! 5 weeks - in person 6 weeks - 3 lab appointments (there were some worries about my HcG numbers) 8 weeks - in person / ultrasound 9 weeks - in person (there was a MC scare) 12 weeks - in person
I’m planned to have an in person appointment every 4 weeks (16,20 AS, 24 etc) until 32 weeks. then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then every week between 36-40 weeks.
Hi all! This is my first time here and a first time mom-to-be and I couldn't be more excited! I guess I have A LOT of questions but for now I'd like to hear from other mommies: could you watch the screen during your ultrasounds??? I live in Toronto, Canada and apparently I have to watch the ceiling untill the technician is finished, and I'm shown my baby only for a minute or less. I'm from Greece however, and despite the fact I've never been pregnant before, this is the weirdest and most upsetting thing I heard! Toronto moms (and all the moms) I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
@me-mama20 I’ve never heard of them telling you not to watch the screens. However, are you team green? Maybe they don’t want you to accidentally see the gender. Or it could be for positioning. This pregnancy I was told to hold my breath during the US a few times for them to get babies heart beat, I never had to do that with DD.
