@bluguitarhannah is that the Excedrin Tension Headache? I was doing some googling this morning to find out what I can take besides worthless Tylenol. I miss my ibuprofen! Lol
@kristinl492 It'll say it's aspirin free on the box. It's usually red in packaging. The tension headache still has the aspirin. I take two every morning (drink no caffeine) and then 1 of the aspirin free and one regular as needed up to 3 more times per day. OB is aware and I've got a bad history with headaches.
@kristinl492 I agree Tylenol sucks but I have found that if I take two extra strength tylenol right as I feel the headache coming on, it sometimes nips it in the bud as opposed to waiting. Then the tylenol doesn't touch it.
@meanjellybean I think that’ll be my plan of attack next time. I waited to take the Tylenol because it really just usually does nothing for me. Instead I took it when my head was completely throbbing. Almost 24 hrs later and it’s still shitty. My OB doesn’t want me taking anything besides Tylenol 🙄. “Ice pack and lay down in a dark room” was their advice. I’m like great well I’m at work and I have a toddler to take care of after work so that’s super unhelpful. They also suggested caffeine but I’ve already exceeded my caffeine limit for the day. Blah.
I am having a lot of pressure/pain in my pelvic area... like I can't even walk normally... I do remember feeling those with my first baby, but I am starting to worry... could it be UTI? I am thinking about calling my Dr if it continues anyway.... but her office opens at in about an hour...
Can we talk about heartburn? What are you using that's helping?
Last night, I was in heartburn hell (not reflux... like, pain in my chest heartburn). I took Tums, Tylenol (to try to help with the pain), and was eating yogurt with honey on top (that plus Zantac was my go to and always worked when I was pregnant with DD) and NOTHING helped. I feel it coming on again now and want to know about any additional things you're doing that's helping. I'll be asking for an Rx for something at my OB appt on Tuesday.
@blaf322 gingers teas with honey help me a bit. And as far as triggers, I’ve found that I get heartburn more often if I’m drinking while eating a meal. I have less heartburn if I hydrate regularly between meals, as opposed to eating and drinking at the same time.
@rachelredhead oooh! Thanks for the drinking tip especially! I downed a ton of liquids with breakfast and definitely feel like drinking too much water (or anything) makes it worse! I definitely didn't eat anything that would trigger it.
@blaf322 I take Gaviscon instead of Tums like it a bit better. I'm on Prevacid twice daily and daily pepcid. I do have GERD all the time. I eat my last meal of the day earlier than I was. Tomatoes, citrus, coffee, tea (w/ caffeine), chocolate are items they have my restrict all the time to reduce influx. The angle of your neck and how many hours you ate before sleep can help for nighttime reflux.
Also, micro meals spaced at least a couple of hours apart can help.
I feel so weird today. I'm hungry but don't want to eat anything, but I don't feel sick either. I'm thirsty but again, don't really want to drink anything. I feel like I want something so bad but I have no idea what it is.
I’ve actually been feeling really good! Except, my blood tests a few weeks ago showed I was really anemic, and I still need to be taking iron supplements to get back to normal. I’m taking the low dose, slow-release ones, but they still make my stomach hurt soooo bad. They didn’t the first couple weeks, I feel like it’s a cumulative effect or something. So now every day I think about whether I care that I’m anemic and can deal with feeling sick all day or not. 😕
@Pascal86 Can you take them just before bed? And maybe switch to non-slow-release, or maybe just a different brand? I’m not taking iron now, but when I first started it was much worse at first and then I got more used to it and they made me feel less sick to my stomach over time. I had to take them at bedtime though because they made me feel so sick at first.

@bluguitarhannah thanks for the micromeals suggestion. I just mentioned it in randoms before seeing this but, I think large meals is the biggest trigger for me (and having you confirm that could make it worse is great to hear!) I can have the most bland dinner ever... but if it’s a big meal, I’ve realized that’s whats setting things off. I’m trying to eat really small meals now.
I can’t tell if I’m getting a UTI or if I’m just pregnant. Peeing more frequently, some aches and warm feeling after urination, lower back pain (not sharp, just achy). No fever or blood/dark urine or any sick feelings really. I’ll probably head to urgent care tonight/tomorrow if it keeps up. The nurse line wasn’t particularly helpful. 🤷♀️
Any one dealing with chronic pain and feeling defeated? My ob thinks mine is caused by a hernia in my groin area. I have an ultrasound Wednesday to confirm. I was pretty mobile and active with my first pregnancy and now I have a 2 and half year old and I feel so defeated by the pain and constant need to rest and put my feet up. I can’t imagine it being like this until July😕.
@bluguitarhannah I’ll try the spacing drinking too! I can tell fluids make things worse sometimes... but hadn’t been able to pinpoint the common denominator.
@rachelredhead I’d go to your OB for the UTI vs UC. The UC docs may not know the best/safest abx to prescribe during pregnancy.
Has anyone found that, even though your morning sickness is mostly gone, it can flare up again badly when you're really tired? I've been feeling so much better lately, but got a bad sleep last night and this morning is just... ugh.
Sorry for another post! I've been meaning to ask but keep forgetting.
Like I mentioned above, my morning sickness is SO much better now. However, every single morning when I wake up to my alarm, I gag and dry-heave for the first 10 or 15 minutes of the day. I don't even feel nauseous, I'll just start gagging. I can't even talk or it'll fire up hard. Has anyone dealt with this? Do you have anything that helped? I tried the old "have crackers before you get out of bed" thing but it didn't do anything. Again, it's not nausea, it's just a majorly overreactive gag reflex first thing for whatever reason.
@lizzybean84 my provider says any kind of nausea in the AM is from an empty stomach. You're saying it isn't nausea though, could it be reflux? I know my husband has problems with gagging in the AM sometimes from reflux. Then leading to the dry heaving. And I'm assuming something like this could get worse with pregnancy. But to help with that my suggestion would still be crackers(or any small snack) and giving them time to settle before getting up. Could also try some tums or something of the sort before getting up as well. I still have a horrible gag reflex when brushing my teeth and have to think about something else while I'm doing it haha
@lizzybean84 I take prevacid and pepcid before bed and then again in the am. That has helped alleviate the symptom you are describing. If acid is the cause you have to stay ahead of it developing to a certain level or you get that effect. My dr has reviewed this plan so may be something you want to discuss.
@lizzybean84 do you have post nasal drip? that could be causing the gagging and dryheaving - having mucus, no matter how thin, dripping down the back of your throat can definitely trigger the gagging. that happens to me most mornings since being pregnant. you could try some doctor approved allergy meds or a saline rinse to help clear it out so there isnt as much drainage.

I have UTI but yesterday I had this lower back pain and lower abdomen kinda cramps, I freaked out and called my Dr since I would be in pain even trying to walk was so painful, her assistant told me that she will see me today, so not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. However I've been feeling baby moving so that gives me some relief... Its probably just me freaking out but still I rather have her telling me so than just assuming...
@mayisch having a UTI can cause uterine cramping as well! Cramps in the bladder, intestines, and uterus can all have affect on of the others everything close quarters and they’re similar(the same) types of muscle.
Hoping your appointment goes well and is reassuring! Pregnancy is no joke 😂
Went to the Dr this AM for my vaginal pain/pressure/burning that’s been happening kind of off-and-on for a few days. Everything looks fine with baby, cervix is good. It does look like I might have a yeast infection or mild UTI so waiting on the nurse to call back. I’m glad I went in, just to get the reassurance. I love my Dr team so much. I don’t see the same doc every time but it’s a Women’s Clinic so all the practitioners are very supportive. The doc I saw this morning also saw me after our first loss and she was so sweet and excited to see us again.
@mayisch I hope you get some reassurance soon! I know how scary and disconcerting discomfort/pain can be when you’re not sure of the cause. Hope you feel better soon!
Anyone else experiencing shakiness/low blood sugar-type episodes? Not sure it’s actually low blood sugar, but it’s the best way I can think to describe it. It’s happened probably 1-2 times a week for the last few weeks, usually at work.
@kristinl492 I haven't but that happens to me when my BP drops. Could it be that? Have you been able to tie it to anything? Like, more likely to happen when I stand up... or if I haven't eaten in a while.... things like that?
@kristinl492 I missed the explanation of your heads he’s, but I had been getting awful ones daily. I started taking a magnesium supplement at bedtime- I use the Calm brand. I also switched prenatal vitamins because I thought it correlated to when I took them. Now I’m having hardly any headaches.
@blaf322 I’ve checked my bp the last couple times it’s happened and it’s been normal everytime. I do notice it tends to happen when I’m standing while scanning a patient. So I try to make sure my knees aren’t locked or I switch to sitting. Drank some Gatorade. It just lingers for a very long time. I felt like I had “sea legs” today. Wobbly and weird. The only thing that finally helped was eating a huge lunch, laying down for 5 minutes and drinking a bunch of extra water.
@MrsTiger123 I take the Calm magnesium as well, but not every night. More so when I feel like I’m restless or need a little extra help getting sleep. I haven’t gotten the headaches daily, but when I do they last forever. I’ve learned that I have to nip them in the bud right away with Tylenol.
So I thought I had UTI because of the pain and the need to pee every 5 secs, turns out it was some cramp/contractions. I was in a lot of pain and got really scared so I went to the Dr's office and she ruled out UTI, good news is that baby is fine, that was my main concern of course... now I am with some pills for a week to make my uterus relax and avoid contractions.... this second pregnancy is so weird...
@stlbuckeye132 yes! it was so reassuring seeing my little girl moving around and knowing that everything is fine... I felt like I might have overreacted but I did felt lots of pain so better safe than sorry...
My back is killing me right now, not sure if it's pregnancy related because it's like in the middle on the right but I definitely need H to take an elbow to it later...
