  • @wildrainbow That is so sweet! You deserve it!
  • @RedBaramid Sleeping alone sounds like a dream! Ds2 cosleeps with us and I would love to roll over and not touch anyone.
  • @jwhite3116 we also didn't have a team, but watched anyway and it got interesting in the fourth quarter for sure! We loved the halftime show and my husband was super excited when JLo brought out the Puerto Rican flag. I was happy to have a bit of latino blood in my veins right now thanks to the baby  <3

@wildrainbow babymoon sounds like a perfect idea! Any idea for type of place you would want to go to?
  • @gomillis I loved that and would have teared up pregnant or not. Love stories are the best

  • @WishesSheCouldCook I mean, let's be real, I would have teared up without being pregnant too. I'm the biggest movie/tv show/commercial crier.
  • @gomillis somehow missed that commercial so I just watched it. even though my dog kept barking at another dog she could hear barking outside and I had to keep yelling at her to shut up, it still got me crying  :'(

@sarah0985 that's such good advice. I never even would have thought of that, but it would totally irk me if my husband got too drunk to enjoy parts of the trip with me!
  • @fitandnerdy it was so uncharacteristic of him that I didn’t even think we’d need to discuss it. But it happened. I don’t know if we’ll take one this time due to circumstances of time off and money but there’ll be discussions first.

  • @gomillis that commercial totally made me cry and then it was on several times again this morning during the Today show 😭😭
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lachnessmomster I'm going to look into it and see what they do at her age. She's only 3 so I doubt they'll be really tossing her in the air. I think the competitive and tumbling aspects are what the real benefit would be for her now. We take her to the YMCA for classes and they basically stretch for half of their class and watch kids take turns on a trampoline. It's a waste of money in my opinion.

@gomillis It was SUCH a sad commercial in the best way ever  <3

Has anyone gone to Disney while pregnant? We've been planning for a 2021 trip (for the 50th anniversary) but last night DH said we should go before we spring this babe on DD. Is Disney even enjoyable if you can't ride any rides?
  • @kgrgreen How old is your DD? Or rather how tall is she? You would be able to ride any ride that doesn’t haven’t a height requirement. And if your DD is still young/short you guys can do all the same attractions.
  • @kgrgreen @lachnessmomster I also binge watched Cheer and loved it! My 3yo is in gymnastics and even though it’s a great, competitive gym, all she seems to do are assisted handstands against a wall and somersaults. I feel like putting them in activities at this age is a little bit of a waste although I suppose it’s good structure for them and teaches them to take turns and listen to instructions (but man is it expensive). I’d love my daughter to get into cirque type acrobatics but would be nervous putting her in cheer after seeing the docuseries   My ribs are still hurting from watching that! Haha! Their talent and dedication is amazing though!
  • @blackgirlmagic I'm a planner too and just sent an email to HR today to start the convo around setting up my leave. Has anyone else started doing this yet? I know it's early, but I want to make sure I understand my policy correctly. I *think* I can take all of my vacation (6 weeks, bless!) between now and when I go out, and then still get my full maternity leave (16 weeks paid, I feel super lucky).

  • @blackgirlmagic @rivercitynik I'm a planner too! I'm 10w2d and super tempted to email HR. I've even drafted the email. I keep going back and forth between sending it and waiting for 12 weeks. I want to know what leave they'll give me ASAP!

  • The only thing I really need to figure out is how my dad can donate me some of his leave. He is in another agency, but I remember from my last pregnancy that there is specific paper work he needs to fill out.
@rivercitynik that is awesome that you get 16 weeks paid. I would so take a week off before your due date, if you make it that far, and then take on the other weeks to the end of your maternity.

  • Does anybody have and use a Doppler at home? For this or previous pregnancies? I managed to resist with my previous pregnancies but I’m having a lot of anxiety right now and am wondering if a Doppler might help. I’ve heard it can be hard to find baby’s heartbeat so they can cause more anxiety than they solve sometimes.... if you’ve used one, when in your pregnancy did you start? Were you able to find the heartbeat in a reasonable amount of time? Did it provide any reassurance for you, or just add to your stress/worry? Thanks!!
  • @blackgirlmagic @rivercitynik @samsonator I'm a planner too (literally a financial planner by day lol) and I'm planning on telling my boss tomorrow. We are a small firm and I'm the first one to be pg so I have absolutely no idea what the policy will be.  I'm anxious to find out!  Ideally wanted to wait until NIPT results were back but tomorrow we have a meeting so it's the perfect opportunity and I have some appts coming up that I need time off for.

Omg @rivercitynik I'm super jealous of your company's policy... how wonderful!!

    I say let it rip @samsonator 🤣

  • @laur84ns I briefly used a doppler during my last pregnancy until my MIL made me feel guilty for doing so. (See this thread if you want the backstory there. Lol.) I want to say that I was 12 or 13 weeks when I first started, and I loved it in the moment. I would've used mine longer if I didn't feel bad after the whole MIL incident. It was nice to hear that heartbeat whenever I wanted, and I remember one OB appointment in particular where he didn't even listen for the heartbeat. I was bummed so came home and found it myself. It's still sitting upstairs in my closet. I've thought about pulling it out multiple times but have refrained. It didn't add any extra stress, because if I couldn't find the heart rate in a timely manner, I just put it away and tried again later. There were only a couple times that I couldn't find it, so mostly, I just felt reassured that all was well.
  • @blackgirlmagic Thanks girl!

The skinny cow ice cream sandwiches are my jam now... apologies as I cannot remember who mentioned these... but thank you!

@lachnessmomster Thanks! Yah my dr told me he won’t even try to hear a heartbeat with the Doppler until 14 weeks and even then he’s not certain we’d be able to hear anything. I thought I read someone on here mentioning their dr used a Doppler around 10 weeks!! I’m 10 weeks so it sounds like maybe I should wait til 12 or so before even attempting to find a heartbeat. I totally remember the MIL story, that’s to keep bad she made you feel bad/guilty for using it :disappointed:

@blackgirlmagic Ugh I’m sorry the insomnia and hip pain have started so early for you! No fair. I was up with my 10 month old at 2:30am and usually I’m able to get right back to sleep but I laid awake for over an hour this morning. Ugh! Laying awake when you should be asleep is the worst! I hope it’s just a passing phase for you and that you’re able to sleep better soon!
  • @blackgirlmagic check out the sleep with me podcast it has helped me so much

  • laur84ns the insomnia has been going on since a week after finding out that I'm pregnant. It's not always consistent, but it happens more than it doesn't.
@WishesSheCouldCook I am downloading the podcast to my phone now. Thank you!

  • @tyrion_ She's 3.5 but pretty tall (40 in). She's not really into roller coasters yet so maybe we could get away with still riding all the same attractions. Thanks for the tip!

@wednesdaygirl1019 The food was the only "pro" I could think of for us to go  :D I'm assuming if we do go, it will be around April too. Maybe we'll see each other and we can eat churros while everyone else rides Slinky Dog!

@laur84ns FWIW, the Dr tried finding the heartbeat at my 10 week appt and couldn't. They had me do an ultrasound instead to confirm everything was OK. Moral of my story being, yes. 10 weeks may be hard to find the heartbeat even for medical professionals. If you think that would cause you anxiety to have a doppler at home then definitely don't put yourself in that situation, mama  <3
  • @laur84ns my doctor tried yesterday at 10w4d and it took a LONG time to find it. If I had been trying I definitely wouldn’t have been able to find it and even while she was trying to find it I was getting more and more anxious every time she kept moving it around and not hearing it, I was getting ready to plead for an ultrasound. I would probably wait a little longer to try to use one at home just so you don’t get nervous if you can’t find it and it’s just too early! I don’t think I’ll get one for home use because I know I would abuse it
