@jwhite3116 H is a 49ers fan and when they came back he just started pacing. He was mad they blew an 11 point lead.
Both my kiddos are super tired and grumpy from going to bed late last night since we were at a friend's for the game. I can't wait until naptime.
On another note, H told me today that when work slows down for him, he wants me to go on a babymoon. I haven't spent any time away from the kids and he wants me to have a mini vacay before number 3 comes. I was so touched I almost cried. I dont get a lot of breaks, so it was so wonderful he even thought about it and is trying to work it into our budget.
OMG @wildrainbow How adorably sweet of YH to think of you and wanting to plan a little getaway. I'm totally loving it. Keep us posted
I posted in last weeks randoms and will c/p: I'm so tired today as well. Stayed wayyyy too late at our friends' house bc they had a football ice cream cake (the one with extra crunchies on the outside), and I had to stay and have a piece!! Then we went by my ILs as they live right near our friends and I could tell hubs wanted to watch the rest of the game given the score... so we stayed. Then when I finally made it home I couldn't fall asleep then was up at 4am with my mind racing and couldn't fall back asleep.... Wahhh going to be a long day.

@wildrainbow That is so sweet! And a really good idea to do a babymoon to reconnect before the craziness of adding a baby really ramps up. #TeamBabymoon all day
@jwhite3116 Yes! I took DD to bed at the start of the 4th quarter thinking the 49ers essentially won. I came back down and the Chiefs had scored 3 touchdowns. I was so confused. I'm happy for the Chiefs, but surprised.
Has anyone watched "Cheer" on Netflix? I watched the competition and stunting parts with DD and now she wants to be a cheerleader. Bonus points if you're a competitive cheer mom and can give me tips/tricks if we decide to pursue!
We didn't watch the game, but we did eat pizza, chocolate cake, and ice cream because tradition?
@wildrainbow Take that babymoon! My husband and I live too far from potential child care providers to take any kind of little trip, but both our birthdays in March and we are thinking of renting a couple hotel rooms for a weekend and we get to take turns spending a night alone in one while the other stays with our kid (who loves hotels and thinks staying in them is magical) in the other room. Cheers for potentially getting to sleep a night in a bed alone without snoring husband or needy cats and getting to sleep until I wake up not when my child deems it is morning.
@RedBaramid pretty much every Mother's Day or Birthday I've had in the last five years has been simply to sleep in until I wake up and to have one entire cup of coffee while sitting in one place. The coffee should not need to be reheated!
@kgrgreen I binge watched "Cheer" and even started stalking some of the athletes on Instagram. I would be so scared to have my daughter doing competetive cheer, since they get dropped so many times! They are amazingly talented, though, and I jokingly said to DH, "WE NEED TO GET DD STARTED ON CHEER RIGHT NOW." Lol She's 14 months. Do you think you're going to get your daughter involved?
@jwhite3116 we also didn't have a team, but watched anyway and it got interesting in the fourth quarter for sure! We loved the halftime show and my husband was super excited when JLo brought out the Puerto Rican flag. I was happy to have a bit of latino blood in my veins right now thanks to the baby
@wildrainbow babymoon sounds like a perfect idea! Any idea for type of place you would want to go to?
@RedBaramid The hotel idea is a great plan! On weekends, DH and I each get a morning to sleep in while the other watches DS solo. It feels really luxurious to sleep until 8:30 one day a week
Did anyone else see the super sad Google commercial during the Super Bowl? DS was watching it with us for like 30 minutes and caught me crying during that commercial. He asked me about it this morning and I had to explain that having a baby in my tummy makes me more emotional than usual.
To anyone taking a babymoon I would set some ground rules 100%! My h who is not a huge drinker decided to get wasted near the pool on ours and passed on me for our romantic dinner portion. I was PISSED and wish we had discussed it previously. If we do one now I will 100% be discussing it. Reconnecting is not one person totally sober and one person passed out

@gomillis somehow missed that commercial so I just watched it. even though my dog kept barking at another dog she could hear barking outside and I had to keep yelling at her to shut up, it still got me crying
@sarah0985 that's such good advice. I never even would have thought of that, but it would totally irk me if my husband got too drunk to enjoy parts of the trip with me!
@fitandnerdy it was so uncharacteristic of him that I didn’t even think we’d need to discuss it. But it happened. I don’t know if we’ll take one this time due to circumstances of time off and money but there’ll be discussions first.

Listen, I am braving mobile to share this with my fellow tangy sour drink lovers. Tonight I discovered a new nausea buster.
Tall glass with ice, pour in a good splash of cranberry juice, fill the rest of the glass with your choice of flavored seltzer (I'm living for passion fruit). This is good here, but for extra rough nausea to this mix add about a teaspoon of the liquid from a jar of sliced pickled ginger. This is tasty, tangy, and can be sweetened with sugar or honey if you need to cut the sour.
If you try this and love it let me know. Also if you deliver before me and try this again and add vodka, report back with details.
@lachnessmomster I'm going to look into it and see what they do at her age. She's only 3 so I doubt they'll be really tossing her in the air. I think the competitive and tumbling aspects are what the real benefit would be for her now. We take her to the YMCA for classes and they basically stretch for half of their class and watch kids take turns on a trampoline. It's a waste of money in my opinion.
@gomillis It was SUCH a sad commercial in the best way ever
Has anyone gone to Disney while pregnant? We've been planning for a 2021 trip (for the 50th anniversary) but last night DH said we should go before we spring this babe on DD. Is Disney even enjoyable if you can't ride any rides?
@fitandnerdy I want to go somewhere where I can soak my pregnant ass in a pool, lol. Prolly to a beach within easy driving distance. I haven't really thought about it, because there are so many factors contributing to if I can go. The biggest thing being if I get Cholestasis again.
So I'm a planner and I was working on a maternity leave calendar to know what type of leave I'm working with, taking 12 weeks off, and I'm surprised that I will only need to ask my colleagues for five days of leave! And I know that I can ask my dad, who never takes leave and my work best friend who always has use or leave. With my daughters pregnancy I only have six weeks of leave and I spread that out over 12 weeks, basically only covering my health insurance so that I didn't have to owe on that when I returned to work. And worst case, if something goes wrong, I'm fine with missing out on five days of pay in the big picture. I read in my paper work that my doctor does not recommend travel after 32 weeks. Around 32/33 weeks is my husband's family reunion in Oklahoma and we were going to drive there. So we are using this as my reasoning for not going and I will keep my daughter home with me because I want all of the single child time I can get with her. My MIL won't be too happy about that, but oh well. We won't be taking a vacation this summer, but I have three day weekends and we don't leave too far from a beach, about 2.5 hour drive, to do day trips if I want.

@kgrgreen How old is your DD? Or rather how tall is she? You would be able to ride any ride that doesn’t haven’t a height requirement. And if your DD is still young/short you guys can do all the same attractions.
@kgrgreen@lachnessmomster I also binge watched Cheer and loved it! My 3yo is in gymnastics and even though it’s a great, competitive gym, all she seems to do are assisted handstands against a wall and somersaults. I feel like putting them in activities at this age is a little bit of a waste although I suppose it’s good structure for them and teaches them to take turns and listen to instructions (but man is it expensive). I’d love my daughter to get into cirque type acrobatics but would be nervous putting her in cheer after seeing the docuseries My ribs are still hurting from watching that! Haha! Their talent and dedication is amazing though!
laur84ns my daughter is in gymnastics as well and she loves it. They do a lot of things themselves, with assistance, like walking on balance beans, flips (on the ground), and other gymnastic moves that I don't know the name of. We hope that she continues to enjoy it world. The gym we belong wins all types of awards for competition. We had her in soccer and that was a complete waste of time. I'm also putting her in swim lesson again this spring. That was a waste of money at the time, but once the session were completely over, she was doing everything she learned in the tub.

@gomillis I missed the sad commercial and it's a good thing. I cry easily when not pg, so wouldn't want to be a mess at our friend's party I'll hafta to check it out later at home... alone...
@kgrgreen & @lachnessmomster I was a competitive cheerleader beginning in 4th grade through freshman in college, where I was a flyer and they dropped me and I tore my ACL. I've been too afraid to cheer or do gymnastics (other than a basic cartwheel) since it healed. Even though I was injured, I loved my time as a cheerleader and would totally encourage any youngsters interested. The longer they are part of a team, the more they trust each other. I grew up being a base and lifting girls and we would rather the girls land on our head than hit the ground. Senior year in HS it was apparent that everyone grew taller but me so I became a flyer (it helped that I was flexible) and it was already ingrained in me that they wouldn't drop me so I wasn't scared, and they never did. It wasn't until I was on a new team with new girls who let me hit the ground... even then it wasn't a hard fall just awkward that caused the tear... and we were only a few weeks into the season. Gymnastics can be a great starter as it is an important part of competitive cheerleading. I believe there are some cheer camps that you can enroll young children in too. You may want to check what is available in your area. Good luck!!

@kgrgreen my DH and I are going to Disney this April when I'll be around 22 weeks. Really the only things I won't be able to ride are the roller coasters and the Tower of Terror. Basically anything with big drops is out. I am really excited to eat all the food and do Disney at a slower pace.
@blackgirlmagic I'm a planner too and just sent an email to HR today to start the convo around setting up my leave. Has anyone else started doing this yet? I know it's early, but I want to make sure I understand my policy correctly. I *think* I can take all of my vacation (6 weeks, bless!) between now and when I go out, and then still get my full maternity leave (16 weeks paid, I feel super lucky).
@blackgirlmagic@rivercitynik I'm a planner too! I'm 10w2d and super tempted to email HR. I've even drafted the email. I keep going back and forth between sending it and waiting for 12 weeks. I want to know what leave they'll give me ASAP!
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
The only thing I really need to figure out is how my dad can donate me some of his leave. He is in another agency, but I remember from my last pregnancy that there is specific paper work he needs to fill out.
@rivercitynik that is awesome that you get 16 weeks paid. I would so take a week off before your due date, if you make it that far, and then take on the other weeks to the end of your maternity.

Does anybody have and use a Doppler at home? For this or previous pregnancies? I managed to resist with my previous pregnancies but I’m having a lot of anxiety right now and am wondering if a Doppler might help. I’ve heard it can be hard to find baby’s heartbeat so they can cause more anxiety than they solve sometimes.... if you’ve used one, when in your pregnancy did you start? Were you able to find the heartbeat in a reasonable amount of time? Did it provide any reassurance for you, or just add to your stress/worry? Thanks!!
@blackgirlmagic@rivercitynik@samsonator I'm a planner too (literally a financial planner by day lol) and I'm planning on telling my boss tomorrow. We are a small firm and I'm the first one to be pg so I have absolutely no idea what the policy will be. I'm anxious to find out! Ideally wanted to wait until NIPT results were back but tomorrow we have a meeting so it's the perfect opportunity and I have some appts coming up that I need time off for.
Omg @rivercitynik I'm super jealous of your company's policy... how wonderful!!
@laur84ns I briefly used a doppler during my last pregnancy until my MIL made me feel guilty for doing so. (See this thread if you want the backstory there. Lol.) I want to say that I was 12 or 13 weeks when I first started, and I loved it in the moment. I would've used mine longer if I didn't feel bad after the whole MIL incident. It was nice to hear that heartbeat whenever I wanted, and I remember one OB appointment in particular where he didn't even listen for the heartbeat. I was bummed so came home and found it myself. It's still sitting upstairs in my closet. I've thought about pulling it out multiple times but have refrained. It didn't add any extra stress, because if I couldn't find the heart rate in a timely manner, I just put it away and tried again later. There were only a couple times that I couldn't find it, so mostly, I just felt reassured that all was well.
This is how strong my body is allowing the insomnia to take over. I took unisom at 9 hoping to be asleep by ten. Guess who is still wide awake...this girl. I just want consistent sleep and for my hips not to hurt when I lay in bed.

@lachnessmomster Thanks! Yah my dr told me he won’t even try to hear a heartbeat with the Doppler until 14 weeks and even then he’s not certain we’d be able to hear anything. I thought I read someone on here mentioning their dr used a Doppler around 10 weeks!! I’m 10 weeks so it sounds like maybe I should wait til 12 or so before even attempting to find a heartbeat. I totally remember the MIL story, that’s to keep bad she made you feel bad/guilty for using it
@blackgirlmagic Ugh I’m sorry the insomnia and hip pain have started so early for you! No fair. I was up with my 10 month old at 2:30am and usually I’m able to get right back to sleep but I laid awake for over an hour this morning. Ugh! Laying awake when you should be asleep is the worst! I hope it’s just a passing phase for you and that you’re able to sleep better soon!
laur84ns the insomnia has been going on since a week after finding out that I'm pregnant. It's not always consistent, but it happens more than it doesn't. @WishesSheCouldCook I am downloading the podcast to my phone now. Thank you!

@tyrion_ She's 3.5 but pretty tall (40 in). She's not really into roller coasters yet so maybe we could get away with still riding all the same attractions. Thanks for the tip!
@wednesdaygirl1019 The food was the only "pro" I could think of for us to go I'm assuming if we do go, it will be around April too. Maybe we'll see each other and we can eat churros while everyone else rides Slinky Dog!
@laur84ns FWIW, the Dr tried finding the heartbeat at my 10 week appt and couldn't. They had me do an ultrasound instead to confirm everything was OK. Moral of my story being, yes. 10 weeks may be hard to find the heartbeat even for medical professionals. If you think that would cause you anxiety to have a doppler at home then definitely don't put yourself in that situation, mama
@laur84ns my doctor tried yesterday at 10w4d and it took a LONG time to find it. If I had been trying I definitely wouldn’t have been able to find it and even while she was trying to find it I was getting more and more anxious every time she kept moving it around and not hearing it, I was getting ready to plead for an ultrasound. I would probably wait a little longer to try to use one at home just so you don’t get nervous if you can’t find it and it’s just too early! I don’t think I’ll get one for home use because I know I would abuse it
