Re: Weekly Randoms - 1/20

  • I feel like I eat ice cream almost every day and it is very, very good for the mental health.  :D
  • Loading the player...
  • @blaf322 oh shit! I should have said spoiler alert!! I hope they put it up soon so you can enjoy lol
  • I bought a very disappointing PB cup ice cream from Ben and Jerry's.  I had the Braum's PB cup ice cream in my head (should have just gone and got some).  The fudge swirl in the Ben and Jerry's is just too much for me.  My spouse did make us rice crispy treats over the weekend and those were great.
  • @meanjellybean oh, it's totally fine! I don't get disappointed over knowing what happens in a show or movie  Also, I doubt we'll go back and watch now that we're past that so it's nice to know what happened!
  • I blame this current conversation thread for at least 15% of the reason why I made myself breakfast nachos this morning.
  • I'm late to the party, but @modoodles those names had my laughing so hard! Poor kids.
  • Multiple places I’ve read said I’ve cream is a good source of fats needed during pregnancy 🤷🏻‍♀️ Prior to pregnancy I was a major ice cream lover. But sadly that hasn’t been on my radar lately! But I do love an occasional peanut buster parfait from Dairy Queen.
  • I went to get ice cream last night (probably because of this thread) but then got side tracked by the candy and ended up eating a box of mike & ike’s last night. I almost never have candy anymore, but I remember doing this last pregnancy too, and always regretting it afterwards.

Don't worry though, I got the ice cream too. It might be a good part of my lunch today. 😬
  • @stlbuckeye132 aaah I hate public peeing dreams! I’ve been having dreams I’m eating gluten every night, then realize I’m not supposed to, and get upset (I have celiacs). Most of the time I’m drinking beer, and then realize I’m also not supposed to have it because I’m pregnant. It’s so stressful!
  • @stlbuckeye132 I was back working at a former employer's for a boss that was not pleasant.  We were in the middle of a legal dispute and I kept throwing up in between breaks at the mediation.  I then had to go to some reception and it was a who's who of people I avoid seeing at all costs.

Other than that dream the weirdest was I was married to a guy I knew in high school and having triplets.
  • @stlbuckeye132 I keep having sex dreams  :D literally could not fathom having sex in real life right now, but dang my dreams at night are spicy!

@stlbuckeye132 Weirdest dreams.. we were at camp, but not my camp, and my cousin and my cousin's wife were in a truck on the lake, but the ice cracked and the truck fell through, but they were fine, but then we spent days figuring out how to get the truck out of the lake. There were baby mice in the camp that we were trying not to step on? and then all of a sudden it was summer and we were still trying to get the truck out but no one was really worried. So so bizarre.
  • Me: I'm so full! I totally regret eating that entire burrito
Me one hour later: I have some chips and queso leftover. hmmmm.... :disappointed:

    Random #2
Baby furniture arrived today. I kind of just settled on this stuff. It's dark and I preferred something lighter. But I was tired of looking and not loving anything so I just got it. We got a crib, dresser, night stand, chest of drawers and all the conversion kits. I hope to not have to look at kid furniture for a loooong time. Here's a link for pics of part of the set (the rest had to be ordered as individual pieces vs as part of a set)

  • @blaf322 omg you have bought furniture?! I have done nothing, and I mean nothing. I haven’t even pulled out my maternity clothes to wash. I am very impressed. I have a feeling I’ll be having contractions before I get crap settled for this kid!
  • @blaf322 oh gosh I would do so many things for some Mexican food right now...
  • @kc0711 don't be too impressed. I ordered that furniture and have added some stuff to an Amazon registry. That's it. I'll likely be right there with you for everything else.
I mostly ordered the furniture because they had a sale going on at the start of the year. I figured I wasn't loving anything else and this was cheaper than normal... might as well pull the trigger and save a few bucks while I'm at it lol
  • I know this isn’t a spotlight for a few more weeks, but anyone who might have their eye on a Fawn diaper bag, there’s a 35% sale on the winter collection right now until 1/27 That’s probably all this second baby will get new 🤪
  • I made dinner for the first time since I started feeling bad with this pregnancy. Chili. It was a HORRIBLE idea. I was a fire breathing dragon all night off of only 3-4 bites. The heartburn hurt all the way through to my back... which sounds crazy, but it was so bad. The chili wasn't even spicy!
I guess I'm done with all things acidic (sauces, fruits, etc) until after this baby is born.
  • @blaf322 acids have been the worst for my reflux.  I ate another hot dog last night after the spaghetti I had planned was too much to add onto already burning reflux.  Cooking is getting worse for me the past two weeks but other things are better like my overall energy.  Just meat in general is repulsive to prep.
  • @bluguitarhannah ugh.. .meats are the worst to prep! DH will have to do most of that for other stuff... but I was feeling well enough to handle ground turkey last night.
Re: heartburn... I think I need to reach out to my OB to get something for maintenance. The heartburn was so bad with DD and I'm not trying to deal with it being that bad again b/c it's already starting now and I'm not even halfway.
  • @blaf322 hope they make some good suggestions.
  • @blaf322
My heartburn was SO bad with DS too and the thing I found worked the best was Zantac...which has been recalled and is no longer on the shelf.   :/   I'll try something else this time around I guess.
  • @JessDG same here... Zantac and yogurt with honey on top is what saved me every time with DD. Not having Zantac is killing me, already.
  • Things are so slow for me right now at work due to most of our suppliers being off for Chinese New Year. This entire week I just pass the time by thinking about what my next snack will be and at what time is it acceptable for me to eat it. Ugh. Somebody give me some work to doooo.
  • @stlbuckeye132 It's picking up here but definitely not at our usual pace yet. Students were just back in class yesterday.  I'm literally watching the clock after having plowed through my am snack bags for how soon I can have lunch.  I know if I eat my afternoon snacks I'll put starving in a big meeting at 3.
I'm wondering how much hungrier the 2nd trimester is going to make me.
  • @bluguitarhannah I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I'm already regretting not bringing more snacks today! :joy: I can only speak from my previous experience, but I don't remember the hunger easing up..... ever. But I might've just gotten into the habit after basically 12 months of eating constantly. (And I wondered why the weight wasn't just falling off PP...)
  • I made (designed, not shared) a pregnancy announcement yesterday, but now I'm conflicted on whether to share it or not. I asked MH if he cared, and he's fine with it, but he also mentioned waiting until we find out the sex. Now I can't make up my mind. I'm already pretty indecisive, and it's been really bad lately!

In some ways I'm ready to share now. We've been slowly telling people and letting word spread, so it's not a secret anymore. Also, I'm definitely showing (although I can kind of hide it with the right jackets and sweaters) and don't want everyone wondering why I'm gaining so much weight, lol. But I'm also not ready to chat with everyone about it, probably because I'm still feeling gross and grumpy all the time. And we should have our anatomy scan the first week of March, so it's really only like 5 more weeks (which feels like forever and also no time at all).

  • @treeofcheem Are you doing any kind of NIPT that will give you the gender?  Sorry, I don't remember if you have shared that.  I went back and forth for weeks on the announcement.  I know some of that is PGAL brain and also it's odder to talk about then I thought it would be.

  • @stlbuckeye132 I had bag of mini carrots, apple, serving of almonds and serving of wheat thins and one ounce of cheddar cheese and I would happily gnaw on more if I had it.  This afternoon I only have spinach salad and some more carrots left.  I could break into the one protein bar still in my purse but they were nasty gross.
How does something the size of cucumber want this much food? Blows my mind.
Ate bran flakes with raisins for breakfast and I'm at 48 ounces of water.
  • @bluguitarhannah @stlbuckeye132 I just crossed into Tri 2 and I'm hungry as hell all the time!! Trying to pack healthy snacks like all you just listed, but the office snack drawer calls....

Also I lunch today was this delicious chicken with cucumber zoodles and red pepper with this spicy Thai peanut sauce. Yum!...until I bit into a piece of chicken and it CRUNCHED and now I can't eat that for lunch (and yet, somehow, I am repulsed and also still hungry)
  • @bluguitarhannah at least you're having very healthy snacks! I'm trying to be a better snack-er this time.

@mehugg my snack drawer with my last pregnancy was amazing and awful at the same time. I had a giant tub of peanut butter in there and would eat multiple spoonfuls/day. Not my best choice. I'm trying to bring in portioned snacks this time instead of the whole bag of pretzels, the whole tub of peanut butter, etc. lol
  • @stlbuckeye132 my wife did buy marshmallow fluff over the weekend to make us rice Krispies and when I got home I straight up ate 3 spoonsuls directly out of the jar.  If it's my drawer here I'm hopeless.
  • @blaf322  and @JessDG and everyone talking about zantac only one manufacturer was recalled so generic ranitidine is still totally fair game.
  • @bluguitarhannah wait, what? Fluff for rice krispy treats? How does that work? I've only ever made it with a bag of marshmallows and a ton of butter, melted, then mixed with the cereal.
  • @bluguitarhannah No, we decided not to do NIPT, so we won't find out until the scan.

Also feeling it on the needing multiple sets of meals. I feel like a hobbit. I only work part-time, so those days are the worst. I keep forgetting when I'm packing my lunch that I need extra food, and then I'm sitting there starving and feeling nauseous from the hunger.

I need to make myself a list of healthy(ish), filling snacks to make sure I have around. What are everyone's go-tos? Right now I do yogurt (whole milk plain, sometimes with honey, fruit, PB, or cinnamon), cheese (often Swiss with pickles lol), apples with peanut butter, whole grain cereal with milk, almonds. Everything else seems to be straight carbs.
