@doodleoodle both my boys have nicknames that end in the ee sound and now we are currently debating if we need to do the same for boy three. We unintentionally put ourselves in this spot lol
I love Gemma. I love themes with names, but sometimes you are just drawn to a name and just know your baby is meant to be named that. I wouldn’t worry about the ee sound and name her what you love.
Wasnt sure the best place to relay this story but here sounds pretty good. One of my prego coworkers is team green and we were talking about baby names. One of my other coworkers was like "Well OBVIOUSLY you're choosing a gender neutral name then right since you aren't finding out and you're only buying gender neutral things?" I couldn't help but laugh when I heard that. I guess it never occurred to him that they can choose a gendered name for either outcome.
@babyroma we are team too and I had some high school kids at the school I teach at ask if we are just picking one name that could work for a boy or a girl. They didn’t really think that we could have 2 different names (or like 10-15 different names lol)
So we like Isla for a girl, but I am concerned that she/us will have to spell it constantly. I have a name where I often have to spell it for people and it does get tiresome eventually. Anyone else struggling with the spelling issue? This is the only name we agree on right now, and we generally are on different pages with names, so wondering if I should just let my reservations go. Girl names are harder than I expected.
@optimism3 I often have to spell my name, because there are actually a lot of different ways to spell Mallory. I've gotten pretty used to it and just expect I'll need to spell it for people. Luckily, Isla is short and sweet, so it shouldn't be too burdensome for her to confirm the spelling. I LOVE that name, and if you both like and agree on it, I say go for it!
@optimism3, I always have to spell my name because I spell it differently than most initially think of. I find it annoying because half the time people just think they know how to spell it and don’t listen when I’m spelling and then like a dr’s office can’t find my records. I think Isla is unique enough that people will pause and listen to her spell it but I do think she will have to spell it for people often.
@optimism3 I LOVE the name Isla! I think we are in a time where unique names are more common and spelling them is much easier.
I think we finally nailed down a girls name. We have been between Ruby and Scarlet . On our drive back home yesterday we both agreed we think Ruby is perfect. And our almost 3 year old refuses to accept any other name for his baby sister, which totally helped make it easier to choose between Ruby and Scarlett. But now we are clueless on middle names. I like Ruby Joan. Joan was my grandmothers name. But DH isnt sure he likes how it sounds. Our lastname is a mouthful so we want something simple and sweet.
@optimism3 this is a really pretty name. I wouldn't worry about people asking how to spell it. It is now super hard to find names that don't have an alternative spelling like Emilie/Emily, Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn...

DH and I have agreed on a handful of names we both like, but there is one name I’m just really stuck on that I love the most. DH knows this. Sunday when we were working on more unpacking/organizing, he referred to the nursery as “Auggie’s room.” Cue my emotional pregnant self starting to cry because I was so happy. I was like “Really?! You think so?!”
So I think it’s settled, DS2 will be A.ugust F.ranklin 🥰
But if anyone asks we will just say we are still discussing because I don’t want anyone trying to ruin it.
Im pretty sure we are going to name our baby boy Grayson! Any suggestions on a middle name that would sound good with Grayson?
if I tried to use a grandfather’s name I’ve got either Douglas or Edward to work with..great grandfathers would be Randy, Robert, Alexander, or Walter.
If I’m being honest, I’d prefer to have something that just sounds good!
A coworker’s daughter is pregnant and is having a boy 1 month before we are. Both boys will go to the same daycare. She just told me the name her daughter is thinking of for the baby and it’s the same as us. Literally first and middle are the same. Normally I wouldn’t care but they will spend 3 years in the same DC being 1 month apart with exactly the same name. She said they weren’t 100% on the name so I’m hoping they change it!
So we officially decided on Ruby as our baby girls first name.. but now we just can't decide on the middle name. Here is what we like Ruby Eliza Ruby Joan Ruby Lightning McQueen (per my almost 3 year old) LOL
@fallonpartyfor2 wow, I am impressed you have so many names ready and for both genders! I really like Carter James, Oliver Jude and all your girl's names.

Re: Baby names?!
@clee5711 #thirdchildproblems if it’s only their nicknames then I wouldn’t worry about it!.. if you can help it lol
I couldn't help but laugh when I heard that. I guess it never occurred to him that they can choose a gendered name for either outcome.

@ibabyloveb87 i spell mine a lot too but it’s been driving me crazy as of late - maybe it’s just my pregnancy hormones? lol
@rikiteacup - good point in the alternative spellings even for traditional names. Thanks
