I decided to create an August FET message since I haven't seen one yet. I was supposed to do my FET in July, but my PGS results came back with no normals so we had to push it off until we could consult with the dr.
EGG Retrieval Results
18 follicles on U/S: 24 Eggs, 21 Mature, 20 Fertilized, 15 day 3, 7 day 6 blasts.
of the 7 blasts PGS tested - 4 abnormal girls, 2 abnormal boys, 1 indeterminate girl
After talking to the dr. today, he is fine with transferring the indeterminate girl and one of the abnormal boys (the one with abnormalities not incompatible with life).
It's a long shot, but we are leaving it up to God and praying he knows best. We will be speaking (per dr. recommendation) to a genetic counselor in the next week or so and then will wait for my next cycle to begin which should make for August FET. We would prefer to do this, then to do another IVF round at this time.
My history is in my signature! Good luck to anyone in August!!

I will also have an FET in August. This is our 5th try and our last embryo. We didn't do PGS testing (I wish we would have). I just did an ERA (mock transfer) 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting on the results from that.
Hoping for lots of positives in August!!

Hi Everyone! Thought I would join in. I have been active on the boards before through TTC and they have been a huge support to me. I have done 3 previous IVF retrievals and we were able to bank 5 PGS normal embryos.
We had our RE consult and labs drawn last week. Everything looks ok so far. I have my saline ultrasound tomorrow. Provided that is good we are looking at a FET in late August or early September depending on when AF shows up. We will be transferring a single PGS normal embryo
@ladyp0tter I’m so sorry your PGS testing came back as it did I’m sure that was one heck of a blow. I had one of my embryos come back as indeterminate. We actually thawed, biopsied and retested and it came back normal. So it is possible. I did quite a bit of reading up on PGS testing. There are all sorts of variation in “abnormal” embryos going through our results made my head spin. We had some mosaic abnormalities which meant the embryo has both good and abnormal cells, which in some cases can mean it could end up being a healthy baby. My take away was that depending on the type of mutations some embryos were a “maybe” rather than a true abnormal. I hope your appointment goes well with the genetic councilor I know for me after I had some time to digest the information it made us feel more secure in our decisions of how to move forward.
@kimberlyshae fingers crossed that this transfer is your lucky one!

I last transferred (frozen) in March 2017 and it was BFP. Our son is 19 mo and we are trying again for the first time since then. Looking at my chart it said it took 28 days after AF to get my lining thick enough to transfer. That's kind of mind-blowing as I don't remember the timing of it all.
We have 8 embryos (DE) and we did not have them tested. We don't know the sexes.
So a little about me IVF cycle 1
Started stims 6/23 was on Menopur, Follistim/Gonal F and Ganirellix.
ER was 7/5 retrieved 24eggs, 8 embryos were biopsied and frozen on Day 6. PGS results show 4/8 normal embryos 3 girls 1 boy! Started BCP on 7/19 starting Lupron on 7/25, then Estrace, patches, suppositories and progesterone in oil sometime after. Transfer is scheduled for 8/26!
@Knottie1464178146 FET can very often work! Exciting that you started estrogen pills. When is your first lining check?
AFM, AF came this morning out of nowhere. I think that was like a 24-day cycle. The synthroid must be messing with me. I start estrace tomorrow and have my first lining check on the 5th. They'll check my thyroid then too and if it's normal I'll keep going; if not I'll have to wait a month.
@pathomer 4 normal embryos is a great result and exciting to get your transfer date J FX for you!
@lynwnab I hope the synthroid has had enough time to get it in the right range for you. I hope the early period is a sign that it is working and everything can go on as planned.
@stella_700 a pleasure seeing you on the “bump” side of the interwebs J It’s a wonderful thing when the brain makes the switch to being sure. Don’t be nervous about the one embryo thing especially if you doctor isn’t nervous about it. In some patient groups PGS testing doesn’t even improve transfer outcomes. If you have 3 frosties to work with it sounds like you have some good chances there even if it takes a little longer to go one-by-one.

I am 28 and have been diagnosed with DOR, my AMH is .57. My husband has low count at 1 million per ml at the age of 25. Apparently, infertility doesn't discriminate against age!! We had a crazy ride with our IVF but thankfully we ended up with one PGS normal 5 day blast, a girl I might add. She is waiting on ice for us! Transfer is scheduled for Aug 20th!!
@LadyPotter Thank you for starting this thread!!! You're right, God truly does know best and I will be sending you lots of prayers. I am excited to see what the genetic counselor says!
@kimberlyshae Ugh i'm sorry you didn't do the PGS testing and wish you would have. Hopefully this last frosty is a healthy baby just waiting for you! I also did a mock 2 weeks ago, excited to get those results back!
@2MomsHoping yay yay for 5 normies!!!! so excited for you and glad you'll be in this month with us!
@lrynwnab Hoping your thyroid looks good! Yay for how your first round went, hopefully this one has the same results! I think it's kind of exciting not knowing the genders! How many will you be transferring if you get the all clear?? I hope your lining check goes well!
@Knottie1464178146 Yay yay do you have a date for your transfer?? sorry your freshy didn't stick, I have heard that frozen transfers have a better chance at sticking so prayers for you this cycle!!
@pathomer Yay 4 normies is amazing!!! Do you plan to transfer just one on the 26th? How exciting!!
@stella_700 OMG twins how fun and probably exhausting, but amazing!! Good idea only doing one this time, two sets of twins would be A LOT!! I hope your thyroid comes back okay. When will you get those results?

At the time you did your retrieval, you were much younger so I don't think its really necessary. I did my ER at 43 so I needed to (90% are usually bad by then and it proved true). Luckily I didn't waste time using mine fresh or one at a time without testing since 6 of my 7 were abnormal and one is unknown.
I understand about the cost because we did out of pocket as well. We have already said if my "unknown" emby doesn't work this time, we will do one more round of IVF to see if I can get any normal embryo's, but otherwise, that will be it.
Looking forward to everyone's results!! I am guessing my transfer will likely be the last week of August or so depending on when my AF starts (hoping it holds off until next week after my consult).

@waiting4mirac gosh I'm so sorry you're nervous! I personally wouldn't thaw them to do PGS either. I don't think it's worth the risk of losing a healthy one in the thaw/refreeze process. You have 7 embryos and those are good odds that some of them are healthy. I think you should be emotionally and physically prepared for one or two not to stick in case there were some severely abnormals in there but as long as your perspective is set I think you'll get your healthy embryo all nestled in.
Also, the success rate varies by your clinic so you should definitely ask them! My clinic has a 68% success rate with FET ending in a live birth. When is your FET scheduled for??
I have my meeting with the genetic counselor tomorrow and then will hopefully have the green light to start the cycle for my FET. If I can get it going this week, It would likely be the last week of August for FET. I am so hopeful that the counselor will give us good news (as good as we can get with our batch of blasts).

DE FET October 29, 2020 - CANCELED DUE TO FLUID IN LINING
DE FET November 16th, 2020 (transferring an PGS normal Hatching AA Boy)
Hi everyone. I will be starting a new cycle next week if I get my period on time. We just tested our remaining 7 embryos, they were tested yesterday and should get the results next Friday.
We switched fertility clinics due to medical mistakes at my last clinic (RMA) now at IRMS. We started the process last August, egg retrieval last October - 10 5 day embryos. First cycle didn’t work, second cycle was cancelled a few days prior to transfer as there was fluid in uterus and thin lining so they scheduled me for surgery with a scope and D&C and fixed a csection defect and did endometrial biopsy. It showed endometritis which they cleared up with antibiotics. Surgery was beginning of February. Then we did another cycle (transfer 2 cycle 3) and we got pregnant. My numbers were 24, 44, 95 and they said weren’t doubling correctly and had me stop all medication and miscarry at home. The next cycle (transfer 3 cycle 4) was the same protocol except last cycle they didn’t have me take the trigger shot which I mentioned to my doctor and she said they should have and maybe that’s why I miscarried. They had me do a stimming protocol without the retrieval for my protocol before transfer. This doctor doesn’t not believe that should have been done. I got pregnant again with the FET after the miscarriage. This time they said my numbers were great taken a day early due to flights 53, 96, 149, 253, (the middle numbers weren’t doubling appropriately they said), then it went 800, 1300, 1900, 2100, 2500 etc. They started talking about ectopic very early on because they are so obsessed with numbers. When we went in for first ultrasound the dr at location for weekend monitoring states I had ectopic in my tube and got another dr to come in to agree with her. We were devastated. I had cysts everywhere and in pain from stimming with the protocol. They did see a sac measuring 2.5 in my uterus that she said was just a cyst fluid filled sac. They told us we had to take the methotrexate shots in the office before my tube ruptured. I didn’t want to do it. Ultimately I was forced to do it and did it. We went back in for monitoring at normal location on Monday and showed sac and yolk sac in uterus and this monitoring dr was shocked I was given methotrexate (cancer medication for ectopic) as I am clearly pregnant in the uterus. We were in and out of the hospital. I won’t get into all the details but I had my obgyn take over care due to RMA’s major mistakes. I had to have a D&C and they biopsy the embryo. The results were a genetically normal baby boy. Devastating.
On to the new journey, met with new doctor at IRMS and she knows everything that has happened. I had a saline ultrasound and endometrial biopsy three weeks ago and all came back normal. We did another sperm analysis, my husband has had 0% morphology and normal motility and count but this time 2% morphology and very low count. We decided to thaw test and refreeze the remaining 7 embryos as this doctor recommended. I should get my period by July 8th if it comes on time. We couldn’t try for 3 months due to methotrexate in my body. I’ve had several side effects from it. This cycle she is doing a different protocol and doesn’t agree with the protocol the place had me on. My transfer should be around July 29th.
Who else is having a transfer around 7/29?
I hope this cycle works for everyone! Good luck! I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.
I started PIO, deoxcycline and Medrol yesterday. I haven’t had monitoring since last Wednesday and supposed to go back this Thursday. Transfer is this Friday
So I did some research on Lupron and found some pretty scary side effects! Some people complained of bad headaches and feeling fizzy/experiencing difficulty focusing. If you are on or we’re on Lupron please share your experience. I’ve been taking it for a few days 1st couple of days no major side effects. But over the last day or so I’ve been nauseous and irritable.
@waiting4mirac any update on the success rate of thawing, testing and re-freezing your embryos?
@italiamnommy8 FX for a successful cycle, and for your transfer day coming up so soon. I just read some of your previous posts. I’m devastated just devastated for you. What those doctors did to you is nothing short of malpractice. If you have the mental energy for it I hope you are seeking legal counsel. I can’t believe you lost so many embryos with the thaw and refreeze, was that at the new doctor? I’ve never heard of anyone losing so many. I’m so so sorry. I hope that things start to look up for you and everything goes smoothly with your transfer. My heart goes out to you I’m sure you have a lot of healing to do. I’m rooting for you.
Welcome @waiting4mirac. I am here trying for a second as well and also live in Chicago. We actually wanted to go with Dr. Lawrence but when we tried back in the day for our first he was mostly working in the burbs and we ended up with a different doc at FCI, that didn’t work out for us so LONG story short we ended up at Northwestern instead. I’m sorry you last retrieval didn’t give the results you were hoping for, but 7 frozen embryos is a decent amount to work with even without PGS. There is some correlation with embryo grading and success rates but grading itself can be very subjective. Is your doc recommending transferring multiple embryos at once? We did thaw and do PGS on previously tested embryos, there is a chance of loosing an embryo in a freeze thaw cycle. ***TW we decided to take that chance after 3 early miscarriages. I couldn’t mentally take doing another cycle without to improve our chances of only transferring embryos with potential. Our successful transfer a PGS normal “B” embryo (though I can’t remember the other letter) and we had other AAs that did not take. END TW***
@lrynwnab when I took estrace before it made me emotional and tired. I don’t think I had hot flashes but I do remember them mentioning it as a possible side effect L
@ladyp0tter FX for you appointment today with the genetic counselor. Please let us know how it went.
@pathomer I’ve been on Lupron a couple times and honestly I never had any side effects on that one. Maybe a bit irritable but I think in my case that may be due to stress fertility treatments in general…lol. Hope it isn’t too bad for you.

She said that if it works, it will likely be normal. (since it is potentially a mosaic where they grabbed abnormal cells from that part and since the cells come from what becomes the placenta, there is a high chance that all is fine with the baby cells inside the embryo).
Basically - If it really does that abnormality, it shouldn't implant. So I have contacted my RE to get this cycle going. No period in sight yet so they will have to kick start it so I can transfer this month. YAY for next steps!!

Maybe y’all have some background knowledge on this so I spoke with my Dr about the abnormal embryos- one is missing chromosome 16, one is missing chromosome 17, one has 4 extra chromosomes (not sure which ones) and one has an extra full set of chromosomes ALL which he said are incompatible with life. Are these embryos typically discarded? -Dr suggest I sign consent and have the clinic discard. Not sure what to do with them...don’t want to discard them IF there is a chance of survival.
@ladyp0tter so happy to see your update and you are able to move forward with your transfer. Wishing you nothing but the best.
@pathomer my clinic does not discard in fact they encourage keeping abnormal embryos as a just in case measure until you are completely done having kids. However, they will only transfer abnormal embryos if you don’t have any normal embryos to transfer and after meeting with a genetic councilor. My REs reasoning is that the cells taken from the embryo are placental cells and the baby cells can be fine. Also sometimes the placental cells contain both normal and abnormal cells (known as mosaic). In some cases mosaics can lead to a perfectly normal pregnancy/baby as the normal cells take over. My RE stressed that abnormal embryos have a much lower percentage of successful pregnancy than normal embryos or untested embryos...but there is a chance. Embryo testing has improved significantly over the past 3yrs they have improved upon the detection of mosaic embryos which can give better insight on embryos that are abnormal but with potential. My doc says a normal is absolutely 100% a normal but an abnormal is a "probably" abnormal even with the best testing. Bottom line there are a lot of variables here. Before discarding I would talk to a genetic councilor who will be able to look at your specific testing company and your specific results to let you know if there is a chance.
@lrynwnab happy transfer month and best wishes for a successful transfer you too. I forgot how time stops waiting for treatments. I have everything cleared and now I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for AF to show.

last night was my last dose of deoxycline and Medrol, I left a pee specimen this morning because I’ve been getting up to pee 6-10 times a night the past 3 days. They started me on macrobid antibiotics today to rake for a week.
i go tomorrow at 12:45 for the transfer! The transfer will be an hour later at 1:45. First time at the new clinic and hoping this works!
Thanks for all the support everyone!
@italianmommy8 I am so so sorry to hear about your difficult journey getting to this point. My heart just breaks for you but i'm also so excited that your transfer is tomorrow!!! When will your beta be? Are you planning on testing at home or waiting? So excited to go through this with you!
@pathomer I was also nauseous and irritable but honestly none of the severe side effects. I was also nervous because I read so many scary things about that one. FX for you that the nausea is as bad as it gets for you! Gosh, genetics are hard. I would definitely suggest to meet with a genetic counselor. Decisions like that are huge and having all the professional advice you can get will really take some of the pressure off.
@ladyp0tter Oh my gosh that is just the greatest news ever!!! As I was reading your update I was just so happy for you. I hope your heart feels a little more peace now! Do you have an estimate of when your transfer will be??
@Knottie1464178146 thinking of you!! Any update on your transfer??
@kimberlyshae Have you gotten your ERA results back yet? My mock was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't gotten them!! When is your transfer date? Hope you're doing well!!
@2MomsHoping I can't believe AF isn't here yet!!! The times we actually want to start she takes her sweet time!! Ugh wishing you all the crampy spotty vibes so you can get this thing going!!!
Trisomy 17, 13 and 21 are not ones you want to mess with according to her because they have a higher likelihood of becoming a baby and having major life issues. Other trisomies and monosomies will typically not implant at all or miscarry early if they do implant. So she calls those "low risk" to try. As I mentioned, if it works, likely it is ok. If it doesn't work, it was likely abnormal as stated.
The science is not 100% accurate yet. As for how they rate it, apparently clinics have different percentages they review so in my clinic she said that anything more than 60% abnormal is labeled abnormal, 40-60% abnormal is likely mosaic and under 40% they would call "normal". So, even a normal embryo can have up to 40% abnormalcy in them. She said each clinic has its own process/rate.
I had 2 embryos with 48 chromosomes (means 2 different trisomies), 2 embryos with 47 chromosomes (1 trisomy), 1 with a trisomy and deletion and 1 they couldn't confirm. She said she would avoid the ones with more than one trisomy altogether and only use the 1 monosomy one if I had no others to choose from. So in the end, my only other option besides the indeterminate one was the one with a low-level risk Trisomy. She said with the Trisomy 11, that even IF that embryo has that and it successfully becomes a baby, that it may never show as anything that affects the child in the end anyway.
