Use this thread to ask questions, share any results you are comfortable sharing (including the sex if you are just finding out / want to share beyond NT/NIPT), or just to let us know when your upcoming appointment is and when you are expecting results!!

We had ours Monday. Baby girl! Placenta is positioned a *little* low so we get another scan at 32 weeks. Other than that everything looks good. Baby girl was cooperative and moved lots (tech even commented on what a mover she is) showing lots of angles. The tech did a quick once over, then went back in detail for the pictures and measurements (kept due date), then did another quick once over before we left. She was really nice

We have to go back next week for another AS scan. They scheduled out first a little early (high risk) at 17 weeks but didn’t get great pics of the heart and face, so we will go back at 20 weeks next week to get better pics of those. Everything looked great from the scan from what they could see though! They did comment that she has a really big belly, it was measuring two weeks ahead of everything else.

We had our a/s on Tues and the ultrasound technician was unfriendly and irritated, so it kind of ruined the experience. But it was really nice to see the baby, especially since I haven't felt any movement yet. She didn't comment, nor did a radiologist come in to discuss, so I assume everything looked ok? I have an appointment with my OB in a couple of weeks, so I'll ask her to make sure everything is fine.

Team girl here! Everything they could see looked good, but I have to go back next weekend because they weren't able to get a good look at her heart or eyes.

oh @sw1122 sorry you had such a negative experience.
@BigBadWolf12 hope that placenta moves up for you.

We had a early scan at 16w w/MFM all looked well with little one I did notice when the measurements popped up on the screen that a few areas were measuring ahead, but the doc had no concerns. we go back around 22w so they can get a better look at the heart. We're team green, so we had to turn our heads a few times.

Just finished up with our anatomy scan! Everything seemed to look good although we will wait for the official review of the results. Baby is measuring slightly ahead so my due date has been moved to July 30th. And it’s another’s little man coming our way! Trying to figure out how to tell DD!

@olivemomma stay!! Everyone is going to start having babies in June / July. You won't be the only July person.

Fun fact, I was due with my first July 1, and everyone started having their (healthy) babies in June and I was so ragey that I would get so pissed every time someone else had a baby. I felt like Rachel from friends, "HEY HEY I WAS HERE FIRST!"

@olivemomma Question- so how do they determine your due date is worth moving? Was baby measuring significantly ahead? Just wondering because there were times in my last pregnancy that I measured big but they never changed anything. Just curious if you know!

@mkrel I honestly don’t know for sure the reason they change or not. I know they take a bunch of measurements - every single one of ours except for one measured at 20 weeks 2 days and the other one measured 20 weeks 6 days. So they moved me up those 2 days. Ultimately 2 days doesn’t matter much either way so maybe that’s why some choose not the change the date??

@mkrel a lot of doctors in the clinic i go to wont change your due date unless you are at least 5+ days off.

My a/s is scheduled for Tuesday April 2nd. I have two ultrasounds before that. And I should get any results that day as I have an MFM and an OB appointment that day.

Yes. In DS's bmb fb group at least half the babies were already born before the month even started 🙈

@olivemomma DS2 was due August 15, born July 24 (9 lb 4 oz at that 🤪). Current due date is August 12, so I will likely go in July, but I’m not movin’!

general Q: How does it work when the group switches to Facebook? I’ve never been part of one of these boards before....

@thirdtimesacharm2019 from my experience, the switch tends to happen in the 3rd tri and people who feel comfortable will go over. Most will try to stay active on both for a while, but there usually ends up being a divide between people in the FB group and people only on the bump. But my experience was a little weird because the bump blew up towards the end of 2014 and had a mass exodus so most people either joined FB or a different platform that I could never quite get a handle on.

@thirdtimesacharm2019 My June 17 board moved over to FB when I was around 36 weeks I think and I had a middle of the month due date. Most everyone that regularly participated joined, there were a few that didn't, but the bump bmb died down quickly after that.

My Jan15 group started a very small Facebook group of the most active board members. Like, it was basically invite only. My Sept13 group started a FB group in late second tri and anyone who wanted in could join. Then after babies were born we took a vote of if we wanted to let othersnjoin and some bump people got super pissed. So we decided not to let anyone new join.

In my last BMB we started migrating maybe a month or less before our birth month, but all stayed pretty active here through the birth of our babies. The last real communal thread was our birth announcement thread (I went back to read it when DD turned 1 and it was so sweet.) Things died down quickly after that.

A few regular posters took the initiative to create the FB group (it’s a “secret group” invite only, I think) and sign up as admins (I think there were some nominations involved), and we PM’d them here with our info so they could send the FB invite.

Not everyone was invited (and a couple of ppl were asked to leave a couple of months in bc they never posted), on the basis that it’s our real name and info, and we discuss really personal information, so you want it to be a group that’s interacted a lot throughout our pregnancy and established relationships of trust.

We had an “early a/s” on Tuesday at the MFM. The dr said it was too early to get great shots of her heart and brain but said it’ll be better at our 20 week one. He said everything he could see looked good . The lady who did it was great. she was taking lots of pictures and was explaining everything she saw. She commented on how long her legs are so I’m guessing she’ll be tall like H!

Aww @purplg8r I'm so happy that you had a great scan and how cool you got some insight on her tiny legs. She'll need big strides to endure all of the Disneyland/world walking she'll be doing one day soon ;-)

Side note to the thread in general: What do measurements and weights have to do with due dates? Doesn't a baby come when they're ready to come unless there is a scheduled induction or c section?

@suzycupcake - I think part of it has to do with knowing when a baby is overdue and needing to induce, since the risk of bad outcomes actually increases after 41/42 weeks. Also knowing if there are growth restriction issues later in the pregnancy depends on accurate dating earlier in the pregnancy.

@suzycupcake my understanding has always been that up until a certain point in early pregnancy a baby grows at a mostly common rate. So for the most part you can get a pretty accurate due date based on crown to rump length. But in later pregnancy estimates of length and especially weight are notoriously inaccurate.

@suzycupcake I don’t have an answer to your question but I did notice on everything she measured when she was dragging the line from one end to the other, the gestational age would increase as she dragged it.

I just thinks it’s weird @purplg8r, especially with us IF ladies to count from the LMP. Because like, we know fertilization happened exactly on 11/25 even though LMP is 11/11 so 36 weeks would be 8/4 but from what my OBGYN tells me, babies come at more like 40/41 weeks. That would put me at 9/1 or 9/8.

When people ask me when we are due, Im like idk when he decides to come out I guess lol

We just had our AS today and found it it's another boy! I am equal parts happy and sad. My MIL is driving me nuts by insisting that we name the baby after her late husband. That's another argument to look forward to.

@suzycupcake I was a full month late when I was born, and my sister was two weeks late. I still wonder if my mom's dates were a little off but I can't imagine they would be THAT off. They don't let babies go that long anymore, as another pp'er mentioned it isn't safe. I was in the NICU for a couple days because I was over cooked. I was a regular sized baby in with all the preemies and was very orange/yellow (jaundice) so my mom says people would point to me and ask "what is wrong with THAT baby?"

So, anyway, not all babies come out when they should, and not all women's bodies will evict them

My sister was induced a week past her due date, babies simply don't like to come out in my family, and that's about as long as they want you to go these days. But anyway, they want to know your due date with some level of accuracy, to make sure the baby is (1) on track for growth and (2) doesn't turn into the over-cooked baby in the NICU. On the growth thing, I have a friend who had a c section 3-4 weeks before her due date because her LO simply wasn't growing right in utero, idk if it was an umbilical cord issue or what (I know another mom who did have an umbilical issue, and they likewise took the baby a bit early out of concern that the baby wasn't growing enough), but she was born under 4 pounds and they didn't feel it was safe to wait longer to take her (she also had a NICU stay, but is doing well now). So that's the other side of the due date coin, when babies aren't growing at the rate they need to.

My clinic and FF both figured my due date by subtracting 5 days from transfer (for a five day embryo), and then another 14 days because that's how our bodies allegedly work even though they don't, to treat it like a spontaneous pregnancy, if that makes sense. Our little dude was measuring three days small at our first scan, and then within a couple weeks was measuring three days large, so there's obviously some variance from the established growth scale. My due date has never been adjusted (he was one day ahead the last time we saw him) but I think that's because it's within a few days.

eta: Google tells me only about 5% of babies are born on their due date, which tells you that due date is, of course, kind of arbitrary.

@zamora_spin my aunt was more than 3 weeks past her EDD with my cousin... I agree with you 40 weeks is just an average of gestation. which is why 38-42 weeks is considered a normal term delivery. I think 90% or so of babies are born by 41 weeks. My body also is one that likes to hang on to babies so I fully expect to go late with this one.

Just had my anatomy scan. Baby looks great, weighing in at 13oz, and she was moving around like crazy. The tech was WAY more thorough that the one with my daughter, so I'm glad I had this experience second!

My understanding is that they don't recommend letting people go past 41 weeks anymore. I also know a couple of women who had to be on bed rest for weeks because based on their EDD, they were in danger of giving birth well before it would have been safe for the baby.

Our AS was a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fine. Baby was camera-shy like his sister and had his hand on his face for the 3D scan.

*resurrects A/S thread from the dead*

Great A/S scan this morning! Everything is measuring right on time. It’ll be BOY number three for me and I’m totally surprised how happy I am about it despite really wanting a girl (no period talks, no weddings to pay for, lol). The only minor issue is the placement of my placenta, which really isn’t an issue because I’m repeat c-section, but it got me a bonus ultrasound at 28 weeks! It will probably move and if it doesn’t they will cut a little higher, but I’m hoping we can reuse the same scar 😬.

I just found out that I'm having a boy after 2 girls. They weren't able to get a good picture of the heart because of positioning, so have to go back in two weeks.

Counting is obvi not my strong point lately. 8/18, my original guess date is 40 weeks from 11/11. Also, our AS is this Thursday morning.

We had our anatomy scan Monday and it went really well. I am seen by MFM (have been with all three) and was released because baby girl looks so good! This is the first time I was released at the anatomy scan and that makes me feel really good because I have been really worried and having lots of dreams about losing her.

She was measuring a few days ahead, but no big deal she was behind a couple weeks ago. All still within average. And I made them 3d her vulva because I am still not convinced it's a girl after all these boys! But she is still a girl and I am getting very, very excited for her.

Had our a/s and she’s still a girl, HA! I was told my placenta was low, so I’ll get another ultrasound at 28 weeks. I’m trying not to do too much googling since 90% fix on their own.

I'm 21 weeks 5 days as of today, and had my anatomy scan just today! It's a boy (which we knew from an early ultrasound but happy it was re-verified), which I'm so happy for. It's my first and most likely only. He was curled up like a pretzel the whole time- the tech had to give him an earthquake, cold water drinking, and gravity change to try and get him to stretch out. We got a great picture of him holding his foot to his head, lol. Just happy he stretched out at the very end to get all the measurements we needed.

Had my AS today and it was cute to see the little boy part after having a girl last time. All of the measurements were normal but the abdomen circumference was on the higher end of percentiles (though still within normal range), which was a bunmer
for me because it could be a sign of gestational diabetes, which I had last pregnancy and was secretly hoping to avoid this time around!
