@ruby696 I’m confused. It looks like you BD during your FW, but you said you’re benched? No judgement, just trying to get all info straight.

*TW loss mentioned* I waited one cycle AL at 8 weeks (measuring 6) and yes, temps were definitely wonky.

@NYTino24 I marked it out of habit (so romantic), but we used protection.

ETA: I've been benched for three cycles, but my hcg didn't drop to zero until recently.

@ruby696 okay, makes sense... if that wasn’t the case, then I’d think maybe you should test. When was your last blood draw?

@NYTino24 it was last week and my RE called Monday. It was at 7 two weeks before. I thought maybe I was getting sick, but I feel fine. I only thought of the loss because the only prior chart that even comes close is a month following a different loss (although not nearly as high). *TW* sadly with RPL, I have lots of BFP charts, and it doesn't look like them either.

Has anyone had wacky charts on medicated cycles? I took letrozole 2.5mg CD3-7. I haven't had a temp spike to show ovulation. If I weren't charting I would have pinned it on CD13 based on all my other signs. I know that BBT is most reliable, I'm just wondering if is any less reliable due to medication. I go for a CD21 blood draw to confirm ovulation or not so I know I'll get a real answer in a few days.

@flinstone-2 I did not temp when I was on letrozole. Is your OB/RE monitoring you mid-cycle to see how you are reacting to letrozole? I had an US to look at egg development around CD12. I'll be honest with you, it was VERY easy to tell when I O'd from OPKs and the O pain. My O pain was unreal with letrozole...

@chichiphin no I did not have any mid-cycle monitoring. I did have a lot of O pain on CD12/13 plus fertile CM, which is why without temps I would have thought that I ovulated, but I'm pretty sure I did not. I have never gotten a positive OPK in my life, even with confirmed ovulation so I either suck at those or they just don't work for me. I'm 99.9% sure I have not ovulated yet and most likely won't by my progesterone check. I'm working with an OB which i understand is less helpful. I'm going to give it a few cycles before checking out an RE option.

daffodil_shoe thank you, that is helpful! i see yours was kind of more a slow rise, but you had the definite shift.
inthewoods23 thank you for sharing your chart. Do you know if there's any reason you took the dose 4-8 versus 3-7?

@flinstone-2: second what @chichiphin said: I had pretty decent ovulation pain and stronger OPKs then I ever have this cycle (my first on Letrozole). My non-Letrozole OPKs tend to stick around "almost positive (read: barely lighter than the control)" for days; this time, the OPKs went from negative to SUPER-POSITIVE much faster. I also had an okay temp shift.

@lcking82 thank you! yeah, I'm guessing I just didn't respond to the 2.5 mg dose. I'm wondering now if I will have to do a progesterone withdrawl bleed or if I can piggyback a higher dose without bleeding in between. It's so weird to me because I had a lot of O signs and I haven't had any EWCM in months, but I got a ton the last few days along with off and on O pain.

@ruby696 I added a box to check into the specifics for "protected sex" in FF so that I can check a box rather than make FF think we did BD for TTC purposes. My temps were SLIGHTLY higher than usual/a bit all over the place for my 1AL cycle (this cycle), but it's also warmer where I've been this month than it was for the cycle I'm comparing it to? And they've really been up and down and only slightly overall higher?

@kagesstarshroom That's a really good idea. I didn't temp my last two cycles of being benched, which was great for my sanity, but not very helpful for comparison purposes. Oh well - it really doesn't matter anyway this cycle.

@ruby696 I'm glad you're temping this cycle--I am all about that data! I felt sort of silly sometimes temping/participating in the weeklies being benched this cycle, but in the end I am glad I did it and hope you are too.

@flinstone-2 I haven't noticed my temps have been much different on letrozole vs unmedicated cycles. I've done both CD3-7 and CD5-9, and did notice huge amounts of EWCM when I took it CD5-9 but not notable difference in CM the last 2 cycles on it. I'm also on 2.5mg. Last cycle I O'd way early, around CD12-14 instead of my usual CD20. It's looking like I'm gearing up to do the same this cycle. I also had really, really intense O pain both times. Wish I had some answers for you!

@flinstone-2 my RE has been having me start it on the day that I go in for the baseline stuff. I probably had CD1 on Saturday so it was already CD3 by the time I called on Monday and I always schedule the appointment for the next day which would have been CD4.

kiki047 thank you for your input. It looks like I got a positive OPK today. I refused to take my usually first one because I threw in the towel, but I caved this afternoon and took one and it was pretty dark, and a few hours later positive! I hope it's not a false alarm and that O is in my future. It would be CD20 which is when I used to O on my own.

For those of you that experience O pain, what does it feel like? I’m having a moderate amount of crampy pain that comes and goes to my lower right abdomen. It’s relieved by leaning forward, or lying in child’s pose. I’ve never experienced this before. I have no other symptoms and I’m CD 13 which makes me think this is related to O. I’ll go get it checked out if it gets any worse, in case it is something else.

@misshelen86 that sounds about how my O pain feels - moderately crampy and always on one side. It usually lasts several hours and gets pretty strong at some point. + It always happens pretty close to when I get a +OPK so I've just always assumed that's what it is.

I'm planning on buying this progesterone test for my next cycle. I was under the impression that I should do it 7 days after O, but the description on the website says to do it 7 days before AF. Is this a error based on believing that everyone has a 14 day LP?

@marebear15 that would be my guess. “21 day progesterone test”= “7 days before AF” aka they’re stupid haha.

@marebear15 It also might be because its an at home test, so a lot of people would honestly not know when to take it if they said 7 dpo? I think since you do know better, I would take it at 7 dpo. But they probably get more accurate results in general by telling people 7 days before AF vs day 21, because at least they are not basing it off a 28 day "perfect" cycle

What can you guys tell me about SAs and other sperm testing like the sperm chromatin structure assay to test for DNA fragmentation? Did you do it through your RE's office or was it done through your GP or another specialist? My RE said he would run the tests for us before but since we decided to take a little break to try naturally before moving on to IVF after the wedding this summer I don't know if I should be pushing that appointment up or if MF can just go see his family doctor and ask for the tests?

@kiki047 our SAs were through the RE, but we were told to see a urologist if it wasn't an RE, not a GP

@chichiphin @Spartanrd4 @inthewoods23 thank you! Urologist makes the most sense, if it wasn't through an RE. Hmm. I feel like at this point I should just beg my RE to let us move up our appointment so we can do the testing then decide what to do. We initially decided we would wait because wedding planning and IVF was too much to handle all at once but MF is freaking out about the fact that he just turned 36 a few weeks ago, it's killing him not knowing whether he's the problem. I'm surprisingly relaxed about the whole thing but he says he can't keep watching me break down on CD1 month after month without knowing if he's the one that has the issue.

@kiki047 H got his initial orders for an SA through my OB. When they came back less than diserable, she referred him to a urologist. He was able to get into the urologist much faster that way. Also the initial SA through the OB was just the basic SA. Anything more in depth like to test for DNA fragmentation would probably be done through RE or a urologist. If he has a GP he could always call and ask for orders, or you could ask your doc.

You could think of it more as a screening to ease his mind, or accelerate your timeline?

@kiki047 dh is doing his sa through our RE, although the actual testing of the semen is done through a local fertility clinic.

@millpe we had the initial SA done through our RE and his count came back on the high end of low (15mill). After 4 rounds of letrozole with cycle monitoring + TI it's clear that isn't working so we had discussed last month that our next steps would be to do a repeat SA and the SCSA test, then decide if we're going to try a few IUIs or move straight to IVF with ICSI. As of last month we decided not to do the testing right away because it wouldn't change our timeline, so it made more sense to do it later (and in the meantime work on improving our health and take allll the supplements) but MF is struggling with a recent birthday and feeling like he's getting older and may never have biological children so he needs answers, just so he has time to come to terms with it.

@kbrown2385 thanks! Our RE works out of his own clinic so I think they do all their testing in house.

Update: I called my RE and miraculously he was more than happy to run the tests so we go Friday to pick up the scripts and can drop in next week to give the samples/have blood drawn. FX for good news (or FX I don't need it after I POAS this weekend? lol).

Hi all, I have a question about timing of supplements. I know that I’m not supposed to take my iron pills within 2 hours of dairy, coffee, or tea because they will inhibit absorption of the iron, but are there any other rules about taking other supplements (Vitex, Vit D, DHA, or baby aspirin) or anything else apart from any foods? Thanks!

@keikilove I'm not sure about the others, but Vit D is fat soluble and harder to absorb, so you want to either take it with an omega 3 supplement or take it with a fattier meal/snack for example take it with an avocado, nuts, dairy, or salmon.

@keikilove you shouldn't take anything with calcium within a few hours of other supplements either. I've all but given up on my PNVs because my pharmacist told me my metformin needs to be taken 2hrs before or 6hrs after my PNV, which is virtually impossible when I need to take it 3x a day. I've just been taking folic acid on days when I know I can't space out my vitamins.

My current schedule is metformin with breakfast, Vit C, D, folic acid (or PNV), CoQ10, Omega3s, probiotics w/lunch, metformin w/mid afternoon snack, and metformin before bed.
