  • @kbirchtree Ouch!!!  Hopefully it's a good enough fix for a few weeks.

@thatbaintforbetty H is exactly the same!  He'll tell me to make a list if I want something done then he literally never looks at it!  I have so many lists all over the house for different things.  He'll try to be funny and add things to the list like "BJ for H" or something stupid.  Yea right, it's at the bottom of the list, you gotta get through everything above that first bud and I know that ain't happening!

  • @lilpotatomama, DH keeps claiming I snore and he has threatened to get video proof but so far hasn't come up with the evidence yet .

Unexpected snow day for me!  Mixed blessing, I can't really afford the time off but it's also nice to not have to go in and have an evening off with the fam.

@mermaidca and @kangstadt et al, I’m in the same boat. I’m super wanting to nest and I feel like I am constantly fighting with DH about the nursery and DD’s room. The worst part is, he is super perfectionistic and territorial about it all, so I couldn’t help him with it if I didn’t have to be the one watching DD while he does it. He promised it would be done by March 3rd, and I just don’t see how that’s possible. I wanted DD in her new room with at least a month, preferably two, to adjust before new baby is here. It’s driving me absolutely crazy. Especially since I can’t do anything else on my end as far as nesting until he’s done!

@lilpotatomama I did the same. Lol. Mine didn’t believe he snored, and was totally shocked at how intensely he was doing so in the recording.
  • I just saw that Walmart is hosting a "Baby Savings Day" this Saturday. I can't seem to find exactly what deals they will have or wonder if it'll be worth going in to see what they are having, but it seems to be directing people for in-store deals specifically.

Two people have sent me this on FB today. They must be crazy if they think I'm going to go into a Walmart in this point in my pregnancy.

  • +1 to not going to Walmart on a day all other pregnant, hormonal and ragey women will want discounts too. Plus, I have my completion discounts to Target (and BBB, which I doubt I'll use) and I hate Walmart.

I’m feeling so sorry for myself the last few days. I don’t want to be a whiner, but damn. Not only are we having the plumbing issues and my husband is headed out of town, leaving me alone with a 4 year old for the weekend, I woke up with a cold this morning. It’s nothing terrible. Just congestion and a sore throat. But seriously? Now I’m exhausted, sick, with a broken bathroom and about to be single momming it for the weekend. Ugh. So much TV will be happening.
  • @gollygeeitsamy every night! Especially when he complains about being tired or “not sleeping well.” I always let him know that I lie awake for hours while he sleeps just fine

@mermaidca isn’t it amazing that men can always make time for their friends and activities. DH has definitely gotten better about finishing projects for me. But he still spends more time hunting, fishing, Ice fishing, and other guy stuff

I spent the day helping my mom pick out the designs and interior for their new house. Basically it just made me super jealous lol
  • Ugh @professionalmama that sounds awful.  Complain away!

  • @professormama, yuck, that sucks!  Don't beat yourself up if you need to use tv as a babysitter - I've tried to relax a little bit about that since I've been so exhausted and I usually don't use it during the day (DH does a lot more at night).  I took a nap today while DS watched Octonauts.  Worth it.

@blueberrymomma, I visited my sister this past weekend at her new house.  It's gorgeous, cost more money than I will probably ever see in my lifetime, and made me super jealous.  So totally with you on that.

DH is sick and convinced me to make him chocolate chip cookies tonight.  I mean, it didn't take much convincing but still... I've basically felt sick for the past 8 months, lol, don't I get cookies made for me sometimes?  (Mostly just complaining to complain, I know that if DH had any baking skills, he would have made them.  But he fails even at pancakes, so...)

  • Well, I'm once again the crappy sister. I have had a cold for 3-4 weeks and just as i was feeling normal again, wham, DD brings home another cold.  So I missed my niece's 6th bday party last month and I will miss my other neice's 1st bday this weekend. My sister said I should come anyway, but 3 hours on a plane coughing and snotty, plus snissing through the entire weekend...really, who wants that.
  • @professormama Its ok to feel sorry for yourself! It sounds like you've got a lot going on and you need to vent. I broke down in front of my midwife today. It's all good :)
My DH put the crib together awhile ago which is really nice but here's my asshole coming out - he needs to get blinds still for the nursery. Of course he cant just get blinds for the nursery, he needs to get them for the entire house (we need them but still). I imagine it wont happen and we will just get some black out curtains or something for the time being.

Is it bad that I get annoyed when I check the registries I was FORCED to make and not one item has been bought? I know there is still time but Ugh!
@harveyisaboysname Wow! That's impressive! Kudos to you for collecting it!
  • @stefanielyn1991 not sure when your shower is but I was always a procrastinator.  Waiting until the day before was my MO.

  • @rennie1108, if you're short on time maybe he can just do blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms? Thats what we had to do when we moved into our house.  We did the other rooms later.
  • Y'all. I am so tired. I work in nonprofit management and the state childcare association I primarily work with has their big annual conference this weekend. But none of the board members want to be the conference chair, so that's left me to basically do EVERYTHING. They did that to me last year too. And I'm working crazy hours trying to get it all done and I'll be working all day Saturday for it too. I don't wanna. On top of that, my bosses have been dumping a bunch of stuff on me from their organizations that they insist I must get done RIGHT AWAY and I feel like I'm drowning.

Sorry to drop in just to complain, but I needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
  • @rennie1108 I ditto what @tmblickley said. We still don't have blinds on a few windows (dining room and our kitchen). Blinds are expensive AF unless you're getting the plastic mini blinds. We found a good deal at blinds.com and if you use the promo code RAMSEY, you get a good discount.
  • @chrissdee I worked in nonprofits during my last pregnancy and can totally sympathize.

The Board: the priority is programming.
me: cool, so here are the programs I’m working on.
them: but the finance reports don’t look the way we want them to look.
me: cool, so the info you’re looking for is here. Do you want me to put in 7 work days to change the formatting or focus on the programming?
them: yes. Also what’s the status on the major fundraiser?
me: as discussed, I’m due a week later and have asked for help. Can you help?
them: but the finance reports aren’t pretty.
  • For people who don't want to go Wal-Mart because they're lazy (like me!), there is apparently also the Amazon February Baby Sale:

    https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=17551867011

NB:  I haven't thoroughly checked it out yet because I'm also too lazy for that.  Hope y'all find good things!
  • @rennie1108 I wish DH would take my request for blinds seriously. We have curtains on most of our windows, but there’s one with nothing and it’s easily visible into the neighbors’ living room. I don’t want to be walking around with boobs out this summer and waving at Bob and Nancy!

@mermaidca Furniture is so room-specific and personal, I don’t blame you for getting annoyed! It’s not an easy thing to upgrade and you use it for a few years at least. Hopefully it grows on you soon.

Also, I’m trying not to be a drag about it, but I’m pretty annoyed that DH chose to go away on a work social trip this coming weekend. I feel like we have so much to do but he’s just not getting that.
  • @chrissdee this happens all the time in my job and i have to prioritize my workload.  Then i have to ask the requestor to set a realistic timeline unless they can tell me why x project has higher priority than y project (including my boss). Usually that gets people to back off or my boss to reallocate some tasks.
  • Thanks for the love y’all. Feeling slightly better this morning... we will see how long that lasts, especially with my husband out of town. But this morning went smoother than I anticipated - kiddo was super sweet and cooperative - so fingers crossed we can keep it up. Tonight is definitely fast food burger for him and Panera bread for me though.

    @harveyisaboysname damn girl, thats awesome!

@chrissdee ugh, what a stressful situation to be in. Good luck, and I hope things settle down a little after the next week or two.

    @kbirchtree hooray! Cute bed too!

@mermaidca the only good thing I’ll tell you is that the changing table is very short term. You’ll only need it for like 2.5 years then you can either get rid of it or put it out in the garage or storage or whatever. Changing tables aren’t becessary, but it is nice not to have to get on the floor every time you change a diaper, especially early on.

@rennie1108 we got our blinds off of amazon. They weren’t super cheap, but not crazy expensive. Under $200 for black out, cordless, custom cut (we have very old windows that are kind of funky). I can’t remember the seller but if you DM me I’ll look it up for you.
  • @professormama Whine away! Single momming a four year-old all weekend while pregnant AND sick sounds miserable. Rest as much as you can and take it easy on yourself.

@mermaidca One of my biggest disagreements so far this pregnancy has been over a dang changing table. H wanted one. I said a dresser would make more sense. I have a son from a previous marriage and never once felt the need for a changing table since most of his diaper changes took place on the floor, but I NEED a place to put all these teeny clothes. Luckily we found a changing table dresser hybrid so we could stop the back-and-forth, but I feel you. Our nursery is also going to be jam-packed because I have two friends who had babies last year and we have all of their hand-me-downs, including the larger baby items that this little guy won't need for at least 6 months.

  • @professormama yes, actually this changing table will work as a nice piece of furniture after, good drawers and it doesn't really look like a changing table if you didn't know.  H was already saying where he wants it in his office after we're done with it haha.

@cabearit with our twins I just put a changing mat thing on their dresser and used that - like you said it just makes the most sense! - but the dresser I have in this room is too tall for that.

@lin0442 I think it already has grown on me.  Now that it's in place it all works, so I really shouldn't complain!

Bless my mother, she spent far too much money on this baby already and she means so well so I'm just going to love it and appreciate everything I've been given.

  • I’m really jealous of all your DH’s building things to help. I’ve been on my own for all baby projects so far. I begged him to make one of those super easy wood play gyms that are all over Pinterest....still nothing. Looks like I’ll be doing that myself too.
  • @lyse01 yea its missing that whole top bar for me. I even tried to log back out and in!

  • @stefanielyn1991 my shower is in 10 days and the only purchased items are from me. Most people procrastinate and buy clothes for the baby because they love browsing in carters etc. ( learned this from DD’s shower). I’ve learned the only people who buy the registry items are your super close friends and the grandparents. They usually grab a big ticket item.
  • Ugh we cannot catch a break in my house. Took both the kiddos to the doctor this morning. DD has a double ear infection, again! DS has influenza B (we all had influenza A last month!) Fingers crossed that I don’t get it but the odds are not in my favor.
  • @blueberrymomma That really sucks! I hope the kiddos recover quickly and that you don't get what they have. Man, that really blows.

@stefanielyn1991 I totally get it. I did have a lot of gifts purchased off my registry, but then I also had quite a few people who just got whatever they wanted. Now we have a bunch of gray onesies (we haven't found out sex of the baby) that are just eh. But hey, I'll take whatever people will give me and then use my discount code - and gift cards (maybe people will get you lots of those!) - to purchase the rest of my registry.
  • @rennie1108, if you're short on time maybe he can just do blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms? Thats what we had to do when we moved into our house.  We did the other rooms later.
I would love it if he'd do that, but he has a difficult time just doing "part" of a job. I'm fine if he orders all of them at once, but just put up the nursery blinds already!!!
