@MRDCle Does it label BH vs real contractions? I find this sort of thing super interesting. I wonder how they do that classification and what the data look like.
@saucentoss it does not differentiate between BH and actual contractions, but does monitor the intensity. I think you would be able to tell based on the regularity and progression though.
My sisters friend that was giving us a bunch of her baby stuff brought it down and dropped it at my moms.
2 car seats, a swing, 2 bath tubs, a walker, diapers, clothes, bibs, like 4+ bags of baby socks and more. I couldn’t even get it all in my car.
I’m eternally grateful but curious why on earth she had that many baby socks?!?! Like that is a super excessive amounts of socks. Footie sleepers are the best ever and negate the need for socks, plus don’t even get me started on baby shoes in newborn/super tiny sizes.

@thatbaintforbetty I wonder if she inherited a ton of socks too and is just trying to get rid of them? Footie pants (see @kbirchtree’s crafting) are also clutch so that you neither need to find socks in the right (unlabeled size), nor match them after laundry, nor corral them after the kid pulls them off and drops them everywhere. Socks are stupid.
@rennie1108 that sounds awful, I hope you feel better soon!
Skiphop has the Forma backpack on sale today for $37 (50% off!) Good deal if anyone is still looking for a diaper bag! I’m about to buy it but so torn on what color to get. I was looking for a hospital bag thread to put this in, but figured this was a good general place for it.
ETA: also, I have been lurking a very large April 19 babies group on FB. It’s full of drama and stupidity, but I think this takes the cake... Thankfully I didn’t have to rage because some moms came down pretty hard on this one.
@lilpotatomama wow that’s awesome those clothes are still in such great shape! When DD was born my mom got my baptism gown from my aunt. Every grandchild (20 of us) on my dads side wore it. My grandma made it and then stitched everyone’s names on the inside. However, my aunt who used it last didn’t clean the spit up out of it before storing it so it’s completely ruined! So DD got a new dress and DS wore DHs baptism outfit Also, @lilpotatomama that girl from FB could totally end up with an Aries too....
Footedpants: Are great in theory but my kids both have long legs and no butt (they wore preemie diapers despite not being preemie). So the footed pants never fit either of them. My kids wore fleece booties(in winter the north face ones never fell off) or were barefoot in the summer because like others said socks are stupid and newborn shoes are too wide for narrow feet
@lyse01 ooh that does sound romantic! @tumblefluff oh no! That sounds traumatic lol! @rennie1108 oh wow are you feeling better? That doesn't sound like fun.
@thatbaintforbetty socks are helpful. They can be mittens or socks and lots of pairs is easier. I like robeez style soft shoes or zutanos (but I make my own version... see crafty thread) they hold on the socks. The terry cloth super stretchy socks worked the best for us until 6m... anyway, my last baby was a December so socks and sometimes little shoes to hold them on were a must for warmth. And we don’t live in a snow climate. Just cold rain.
@kbirchtree DD was a summer baby and also hated to have her hands covered, would not stop till she got whatever was covering them off. We also don’t live anywhere where it gets super cold. But socks were pretty pointless. I may have to look into some footed pants but I seriously love zip up footed sleepers. They are my go to baby clothing item. Lol.
I think I started putting shoes on her closer to 9 months just to get her used to them for when she started walking. But even that wasn’t an all the time thing.

DS just woke up screaming because he couldn’t open his eyes, so I guess my plan of relaxing while he’s at school today until my US st 3 is out the window. Thank god for a 24hr appointment line, hopefully I can get him started on drops early enough to not have to cancel my US today. I just spent the past 20 minutes Lysolijng as many surfaces as I could but anyone wanna take bets on how long it is till I have it too?
@MRDCle oy that sounds terrible, I hope your son feels better and that you don't catch anything.
We're at the hospital now waiting to talk to the doctor after US, heart rate and blood flow tests. Everything looking fine with the boys and twin 1 has even caught up a bit in growth speed so now they're only differing by 14% compared to last time when they differed by 25%. They refuse to lie still during US though, stubborn & active little ones already.
@lilpotatomama that is the dumbest reason to want a baby to come earlier then it should. Normally I would say it’s wrong to flame but glad they responded the way they did to that momma.
School vacation this week. I took Tuesday and Wednesday off to spend some time with the kiddos before this little one comes.
@MRDCle oh no! Hope he feels better soon and fingers crossed you don’t catch anything. @honey_suckle that’s great news about their growth! I’m only having one and he refuses to chill during US, the techs always laugh at how stubborn he is and how much he moves so I feel you.
We had a baby shower with my mom’s side, DH’s side, and some of my friends from back home yesterday and it was such a wonderful day. We drove back last night (due to weather) so I slept so good from the long trip. Now today we’re tackling baby stuff. DH is building the crib, I’m sorting and washing baby clothes and trying to make it a little less like a baby store exploded in our living room.
@MRDCle ugh. You’ve got it worse than me - I only have a toddler that’s a Tasmanian devil this morning (whyyyyy)...broke my ceramic casserole dish cover, tried to flush magnets down the toilet, climbed onto the table to unlock the window, pulled apart a flashlight to dunk in her glass of water, and just generally moping about not being able to reach all the new magnets I put on the fridge so they don’t live on my cluttered counters. Naptime now, little lady.
Ughhhh plumbing issues. Last week we replaced our hot water heater and dealt with a clogged pipe. This week we discovered that our shower is leaking in the wall. Plumbers were out here today and they can't fix it today in the time they have, so our master bath shower is just going to be out of commission until next week. Realistically, it's not a big deal, we have another shower, it's going to cost us less than $1,000 even in the worst case repair scenario. But ughhhhhhhh. I did NOT want to spend a bunch of money on plumbing over the last two weeks. I don't want to have to deal with my shower being broken for the next week. I'm tired and I'm grumpy and I hate everything
@MRDCle, @lyse01, @professormama, ugh, why do Mondays consistently suck?! Here's hoping everyone's day gets a little better.
@tumblefluff, enjoy your days off with the kiddos! It keeps hitting me hard that my DS's days as an only child are numbered. Gah!
@jlklec19, sounds like a great weekend! Have fun organizing . As soon as our nursery is done, that's what I'm gonna be doing desparately for the last few weeks, haha.
Baby boy has been moving like crazy this weekend, and I think he may have dropped head down now? It's hard to tell.
I had probably the worst day of work yet yesterday. So much to do, not enough time, too many phone calls to make and not enough patience to make them. Plus my left calf is still recovering from an absolutely awful Charlie horse that somehow turned into a pulled muscle. On the bright side, I am not working until my due date anymore. My maternity leave officially starts in a month and 8 days and I will be counting down every. Single. Second.
@kangstadt Keep us posted about baby's position! I feel like LO was moving a ton this past weekend also, but I still think his/her head is off to the side I have my midwife appointment tomorrow, so we'll see what she says.
