Re: Randoms w/o 2/11

  • Was filling in my calendar just now and realized I’m due in just over 6 weeks 😱😱😱 I’m a mix of panic and excitement. I have so much that needs to get done!!!

  • Our company is updating our system (but didn't tell anyone about the upgrades, thanks IT) and we're all having issues with our email today.  I'm missing a ton from yesterday afternoon, some are bouncing back, calendar access is all crazy...so I'm milking my issues a bit and just hanging out.  It's the Friday before a long weekend.  I'm not about to bust my butt for anything.  Except to go check out the new vending machine in the office, it takes cards and cash!

  • @mermaidca I’m pretty much doing the same only without the IT issues, lol. Half the office will be in over the weekend and/or Monday but not my department. I’m just really done with this week and can’t wait for 3 days off.

Also Monday is Presidents Day in the US and I was wondering what holiday it was in Canada. Apparently the answer was not as simple as I was thinking and depends on location?

  • Some baby clothes that I ordered the other day got delivered today and I’m now just going through all of them and having mini meltdowns over how cute every little thing is. And we mostly picked up like 9-12 month stuff so they aren’t even that small. It’s just one of those days where it’s hitting home that in about 2 months he’ll be here.
  • @mrstmoose I obviously didn't mean I wanted anyone to have premature baby! I'm just very anxious to be done. Im sure shes very glad to have him here
  • Congrats @kyashley1227, so glad everything turned out well and you have your beautiful baby!

@jlklec19 you sound like my mother and I when we walk into the baby aisle. Squealing over how tiny and just adorable everything is.
  • @stefanielyn1991 I do that too. I’ve always been a sucker for cute baby clothes but I’m so much worse now haha. DH reigns me in a lot with logic to keep me from buying the entire baby section. 😂
  • @kyashley1227. Congrats on your little squish!  He’s adorable!

  • Sleeeeep! Question? Does anyone else use a sleep tracker like fitbt that tells you how much deep sleep you are getting? I get 17-45 total most nights even with 7 hrs of sleep otherwise. I got 1.5 ish or more prempregnacy. And was tired. Anyway, anyone have any ideas 💡 on improving deep sleep cycles?
  • @kbirchtree I was actually looking at my sister’s with her this morning and her’s looks pretty similar to yours. Lots of light sleep, but deep sleep was minimal.
  • It’s been a while since I went lurking, but June’s got a worthy thread for those who like drama: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12740403/why-our-board-is-dead#latest

    mostly just sad.
  • Thanks @lyse01 I needed some drama. Glad that our little group is accepting of folks like me who only post every so often!
  • @jlklec19 My husband keeps telling me we need to at least wait until after the baby shower to buy more outfits but I can’t resist all the adorable and tiny items either! I’ve got them mostly on clearance and second hand but LO already has a pretty full closet and when I bring things home, DH tries to rein it in, but gets pretty squealy about how cute they are too, haha

  • @suchagoodone that is definitely DH’s logic, so I got around that by saying “but most people will buy cute little outfits for when he’s little”. We have a few things in each size. It also helps that our local Target has been re-doing the baby section so most of the boy clothes have been slim pickings.

@kbirchtree Mine tracks sleep but isn't very accurate. It doesn't notice when I wake up.

Maybe try benadryl, lavender spray on your pillow, a foot rub from DH before bed, or excercising in the evening
Honestly, I just hope for the best. But I get the most quality sleep when I am doing plenty of physical activity during the day.
  • @kbirchtree I also got a lot more deep sleep before pregnancy. Honestly, the only way I’m able to get deep sleep now is if I’m really, REALLY tired, like last night. I also make sure that I don’t go to bed hungry or thirsty.

  • I stopped wearing my Fitbit because my lack of sleep AND movement made me sad ha

  • I have been terrible about wearing mine when I sleep. I try to be good about wearing it during the day so I can track my steps, but other than that I’m terrible about putting it on.

This 100%. And I lost my charger.
I’m trying to decide if I want to get a new fit bit Charge or upgrade to an Apple Watch
  • Oooh I am a mess today haha.  This cold is killing me, my cough is so violent I'm worried how much I'm shaking this baby and I keep peeing myself.  I also got out of bed with swollen ankles.  It just a solid tube of leg from knee to toes. 😭

@lyse01:  I just read the June thread and agree that it's mostly just sad.  And it kind of motivates me to make sure our Private Group Poll stays bumped to the first page, so people can see our plans and the reasons for them.

@mermaidca:  I hear you on the peeing.  Totally adds insult to injury that all the newer clumsier movements I find myself having to do are way more likely to squeeze it out.  (Or is that injury to insult?)

@Fitbit Girls:  Oh man, I was thinking about getting one, but now maybe not.  I am probably too suggestible, but I feel like if I knew I had gotten "bad sleep" I'd feel ten times worse and probably indulge in crankiness.  Then again, how are you getting sleep scores like 86 when you don't get much REM?  Maybe I just don't get how these work or what qualifies as ok sleep?
  • @TheSouffleGirl weirdly enough, I don’t get grumpy when I see how “badly” I slept. Knowing that I didn’t have a good night and was tossing and turning tends to make me be a little more gentle with myself. I’ve also learned a lot about my bad pre-sleep habits and have been able to fix them. It’s awesome. I don’t know what technically qualifies as quality sleep, but the less REM/more deep sleep I have, the better.
I try not to read into the sleep stuff too much. I think about how I feel before looking at my night summary.
Sorry for the novel, I’m just a big Fitbit fan!
  • That's great @harveyisaboysname!!  Freeze that ish!

  • @harveyisaboysname:  Aww, all the love for that!

I've seen a couple of people mention leaking colostrum.  How common is it?  I haven't done it with either pregnancy, but I had major supply issues the first time around (which is why I totally get it, @harveyisaboysname!)
  • @TheSouffleGirl I didn’t leak at all with my first pregnancy. I even tried pumping to induce labor when I was late. Nothing would come out, but then I had a huge oversupply when she was finally born.
I hear that your milk supply increases with each pregnancy, so maybe you’ll have better luck this time! I’ve also heard amazing things about taking the supplement Cash Cow by Legendairy Milk at 36 weeks prepares your body to build a good milk supply.
  • @TheSouffleGirl, I don't remember leaking during pregnancy with my first, but I noticed around 20 weeks this time that I could squeeze my nipples and express a few tiny drops.  With my first, I had an oversupply if I pumped too much.  My sister also leaked really early with her first pregnancy, but I don't think it means anything in terms of someone's ability to produce milk, just another random pregnancy symptom some women have and some don't.

@harveyisaboysname, all the good thoughts that you'll have a supply come in!

@mermaidca, ugh, I hope you feel better soon!  I remember near the end of my first pregnancy I full out peed myself a few times from coughing/sneezing, and it just made me feel gross.  Pregnancy definitely isn't all rainbows and sunshine, haha.

  • On the note of leaking, I leak like crazy. I feel like it’s such a waste. I woke up this morning and my shirt was completely drenched! I wish I could save it somehow.

Thanks to TB for posting my comment twice!
  • OK, cool, I was starting to worry I was the only one that hadn’t started leaking
  • I didn’t leak with my first and had no supply issues.  I did however have my milk come in on the late side.  No sign of leaking this time either.  If anything, my breasts feel less swollen. Or maybe it’s just that my belly is making them look small now.
  • Oh boy today my SO and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a night at the aquarium (I got to pet a penguin!), an arcade, and walking around a river walk area. I am now in so much pain. My feet, pelvis, back, stomach all hurt!  Braxton hicks are setting in ugh I may have overdone it.
    @lilpotatomama that is adorable!
My boobs dont seem changed at all no leaking maybe slightly bigger?
  • I haven't leaked at all either.

On another note, I was asleep for about an hour tonight when I jolted up and projectile vomited all over my bed. So that's been fun.
  • @rennie1108 oh no! Feel better

@lilpotatomama I know my mom kept my smocked baby dresses into my teens, but what happened to them since is a total mystery. But I would LOVE to have them.

@stefanielyn1991 we celebrated today too! Though with a trip to a local living history museum - there are supposed to be horse and carriage rides on Monday so we plan to go back (we’re members) for a bonus romantic experience.
  • @lilpotatomama that dress is adorable!

@rennie1108 that sounds awful, hope you feel better!
  • I love that @lilpotatomama

I don’t remember who suggested Bloomlife to me when I asked about contraction counters but I got it yesterday and it’s pretty cool! I put it on at 8:30 and last and wore it while I slept. I had 9, mostly around 2 minutes long before bed (around 10:30), and then another 46 between 11:30 and 5:30 :D
Between those and the nightmare I had about delivering our boys crazy early I think I get why I’m never rested anymore.

  • @lilpotatomama so cute!  I don’t think my Mom saved anything of mine from when I was little except for a stuffed bunny.  I let DS1 play with it and it’s head fell off.  He did NOT like that.

Whoops!  I sewed it back together and put it in storage again.
