Silly work dilemma: I now like to lean back in my work chair (or the baby kicks my guts in protest), but it makes my arms stick out awkwardly to reach my keyboard and mouse. I’m an ergonomics nightmare.
Related: I’m now having difficulty reaching the second shelf in our cabinets because my belly puts me further out from the counter. I think by the end of this I’ll have to swear off bowls.
@lin0442 - I am really short, 4'11 and the bump makes it super hard to reach stuff. I can't even get the socks out of the bottom of the washer without a stool!

@lin0442 I’ve had to adjust the way I sit or else get retaliation kicks. My desk was hitting me about a fourth of the way down my bump and she was not happy about it.
She’s actually not happy anytime I try to lean over though.
Also our cabinets are a super annoying height and I have given up getting anything on the second shelf if it’s not low and at the edge. And I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to even reach that.

Sorry to everyone who is having a grumpy, crappy, moody day.
I'm in a pretty decent mood. Had to go in to the office for the AM, but I'm back home and working on my couch now. My 4 year old is SUPER excited about "Valentimes day." We are planning to have a super easy dinner (pancakes and bacon), decorate break and bake cookies with store-bought icing and sprinkles, and just generally do a no-pressure evening that will still feel special to said 4 year old.
Just had to tell a coworker that if he was looking for a sympathetic ear about how badly he slept last night he needed to find someone else. Know your audience dude
@fuzzywombat I've been thinking the same thing about one of my coworkers! He's 27 years old, no kids, and he's always complaining about how tired he is. I want to drop kick him. (he's also just annoying in general which doesn't help my attitude towards him)
I'm hiding in my bathroom eating a peanut butter cup that I bought for myself at the grocery store. Valentine's day definitely loses its appeal as an adult . So far my day has been good, I'm just exhausted. And same to being short tempered lately. I've told DH that my capacity for dealing with idiocy has shortened as rapidly as my ability to breathe lately....
So sorry for everyone having rough days! Hang in there - at least tomorrow is Friday?
I’ve never been a big fan of Valentine’s Day. I think I liked it as a kid because candy 🤷🏻♀️ But other than that, there’s really not much of an appeal.
Since SO and I haven’t found an apartment yet, we have to make it work at my parent’s house. My sister is being super awesome and cleaning the room SO and I are going to be staying in. It’s a complete disaster in there, but it’s coming along very well.
Day 4 of no work and it was needed for sure. We ended up finishing the trim on our bathroom and straightening up areas of the house that were untouched in months/years (mainly paper clutter). Definitely feeling accomplished but also wishing it was the start of my maternity leave and not just a week off work. So ready to be done with the work stress and focus on my kiddos for awhile.
My partner is doing his best to get me on the right track for weight gain (it really hasn’t been successful overall).... I thought I had PBJ for lunch today, but then when I was eating it, I realized that it also had a layer of bacon and a layer of butter.
Kinda gross, kinda sweet, and made me laugh at the same time 🤷🏽♀️
Ugh... So my boss had a semi plan for my maternity leave. But the other dept (that would be helping) initially said yes but now have back tracked. There isn't really time to train anyone SOOO it may be that no one does my job while away. I have managed to automate about 50% of my current work load but that is still ~240 hours that will not be covered. No one better expect me to do it all when I come back.

@kyashley1227 good luck! Fingers and toes crossed that everything goes as smoothly as possible and that you have yourself a lovely and healthy new valentine
I missed so much and I don't even know where to start. @kyashley1227 congrats on getting to meet your son! You're in my prayers. I had a doc appt yesterday and he says were probably looking at inducing a week early so just 7 weeks to go! I have an NST Wednesday and I'm stressing out (ironically).
Noah is here! It’s been a very eventful day! Ended up with an emergency csection this afternoon. I will post my birth story tomorrow. He is doing great and I’m feeling okay. Just wanted to give you guys a quick update before I crash! 💙💙💙
@kyashley1227 congratulations on the arrival of your baby! I’m so glad you’re both safe and well!
@mesweettea that sounds like something my husband would do too. Lol. Very sweet and definitely gross.
I was quoted today (in a professional capacity) in a national news outlet for the first time ever and I feel super proud and pleased about it! I’m usually really nervous about media requests, but this one went well!
@kyashley1227, ahh, congratulations (and also, oh my goodness, one of us had our babe already! *cue panic mode*)! Sending thoughts your way for a speedy recovery and a short hospital stay.
I'm so ready to be on leave as well, @angelob88 . Sounds like you had an awesome productive day though!
@kosmo86 , I feel you. I have this sneaking suspicion that I'll be doing a LOT of at-home office work while I'm on leave. I'm not sure my boss realizes how many phone calls and things I do on a normal basis at home until I'll be out and not doing them, haha.
So as for me, I tried raspberry leaf tea today (iced and mixed with raspberry lemonade to make it palatable to my non-tea-drinking self, lol). Not 100% sure if it was baby boy being extra roly-poly, my anxiety, or actual contractions, but I've had a lot more hard-to-the-touch belly moments tonight than usual, pseudo-crampy/contraction-y. I'm thinking I'll wait a few more weeks before adding the tea back in again. I know that it probably just means the tea is doing what it's supposedly for (toning my uterus) but it's frequent enough I don't want to push my luck.
@kyashley1227 congratulations! Welcome to our first A19 baby! So glad you guys are doing well.
I’m in a better mood now despite the sudden plummet in temperature in preparation for MORE SNOW because I managed to have a quarter of a milkshake with dinner and got good BG numbers anyway. It alleviates some of my bad mood I’ve been struggling with since the GD diagnosis. Especially on valentines when I would LOVE some dark chocolate.
@fuzzywombat I would have been ticked at that guy too. So clueless.
From fires to floods , we see it all. there is a mostly covered telephone pole there and we are missing 100 yards of beach that is usually visible supposed to rise 6 more feet which will flood lots of homes most should be prepared though, as everyone knows it’s a floodplain my house is 4miles up a creek from this photo and we shouldn’t have a problem
@kyashley1227 congrats I'm so jealous you got to meet your baby! @HGRich yay for milkshakes! You shouldn't have to deprive yourself during pregnancy. It isn't fair!
@kyashley1227 Congratulations! Noah is precious @kbirchtree Whoa! That is some intense flooding. I'm glad y'all are in the safe zone.
H made reservations as a cute little Italian restaurant for V Day Dinner last night. As I was on my way there to meet him I got a call that he had locked himself out of the car about 15 miles from the restaurant at a Target (you know, when he ran in to buy the last minute card and chocolate ) I had to turn around, drive home, locate our spare key and fight rush hour traffic to bring it to him. We ended up in a Thai restaurant that was near Target about an hour later. It wasn't exactly as planned, but the green curry made it worth all the stress.
@kyashley1227 congratulations and please take care of yourself! Keep us updated!
@stefanielyn1991 while we are all excited to meet our babies, I don’t think any of us are ready to meet them 8 weeks early. I know you meant well by your comment but there are a lot of mamas here who have experienced NICU babies and it’s not something we would wish on anyone.
@kyashley1227: Oh my goodness! He's so real and so perfect! I'm so glad things are going well so far, and hope that you have a smooth journey from here forward. Welcome, little Noah!!!
