Re: January Birth Announcements!!!
Arrived at triage blood pressure of 170/90 and they ran tests, blood test every few hours, urine tests every few hours, non stress test and biophysical profile. Was given medication to help with blood pressure. Was there all day and at 5pm they admitted me to the antenatal unit. Diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and placenta was not functioning properly baby was measuring in 6th percentile. Told I am staying at the hospital until the baby is delivered they gave one steroid shot to help his lungs with another planned for 24 hours later.
They continued tests in the antenatal unit. At midnight they came back with bloodwork that said I now had HELLP and baby needed to come out. My placenta previa had cleared so was able to start being induced. Around 1 am I Had a foley catheter inserted to dilate my cervix then admitted to labour and delivery where I was started on magnesium sulfate, oxytocin, and penicillin. They asked if i wanted an epidural and I said if needed. Was told if my platelets dropped below 80 i wouldn't be able to have one. My platelets were at 98 so I got the epidural.
All medicines and monitoring continued with oxytocin being upped regularly. Around 6:40 am Dec 6 baby started having heartrate decelerations after contractions. He was not tolerating labour..oxytocin was stopped. Dr was quickly in the room with consent forms for c-section and I was very quickly wheeled out to the operating room and prepped for a c-section. Everyone was moving very quickly. So glad I had the epidural already in which they increased.
Baby was born at 7:08 am Dec 6th weighing 4 pounds. He was taken to NICU and DH got to go see him. He was put on cpap and feeding tube and iv. Doing so well he is off the cpap now and I've been able to see him twice since I was still being treated for HELLP for 24 hours after delivery.
Here he is Landon Isaiah Calvin
We went into the hospital for induction at 9:30am and started medication to soften my cervix. After about 4 hours the midwife checked me and I was dilated and effaced enough to begin Pitocin.
The Pitocin created strong feelings of contractions for me, but nothing showed on the monitor. Every hour the nurse upped my dose to try and get the contractions to become strong enough to show up. After 4 hours I was feeling contractions so strong and frequently that it seemed like I never had a break between them. When the midwife checked me again I was just shy of 4 cm so she broke my water and gave me an internal monitor. Immediately we saw that I was having MAJOR contractions and in some cases they weren’t even finished before the next one started. The midwife cut the dose of Pitocin in half right away, but at that point I was in serious pain and, due to the internal monitor, unable to move around and use the coping methods I had planned on.
I asked to try IV meds to help me manage the pain, but all that did was make me sleepy. I was half dreaming/half awake trying to manage the pain and it wasn’t working. So, I asked for an epidural. They had the anesthesiologist in my room within 5 minutes and the epidural placed with no issues. As soon as it kicked in I fell asleep. That was around 11:30 last night.
The midwife woke me at 4:30am to check me again and I was at 9.5 cm! She and the nurse got everything ready for delivery and at 5:00 we agreed to turn off my epidural and I started pushing. At 5:49, Philomena Helen was born! I had a small 2nd degree tear but I honestly didn’t notice once she was placed on my chest. She had the chord wrapped around her neck twice and a knot in it so it was a really good thing we induced early and she was tiny. The NICU team checked out Philomena quickly before they gave her back to me for skin on skin and said the chord issues hadn’t caused any problems and she was perfect!
It was not the birth experience I had planned on in any way, but it all came together beautifully and I’m just grateful we are all healthy and happy in recovery.

I was induced early due
And, for the names: William Henry (Baby A) and Harrison Richard (Baby
Thanks to to all those who destroyed the name Grider, lol! We are really glad we didn’t name one of our twins that! Haha
my epidural only worked on the left side, my liver and gallbladder were so pissed off they were creating tons of pain on top of the contractions. The baby was showing d cells in her heart rate so they wanted to get moving quickly. Turns out she had wrapped the cord around her neck twice, which is why she was in so much distress. Mix that with the cholestasis and she was ready to get out of there! My first born was 8lb 12oz and came on her own, no issues. I just pushed for 3 solid hours.
The induction started 8pm on the 26th and baby was born December 28 at 7:30A
6lb 4 oz 17in long
After 4 hard pushes Addison Chandler was born a healthy baby girl!
I went into L&D Saturday(12/29) morning during to high at home blood pressure readings. After being monitored for a few hours they decided to induce(I was 38 weeks 3 days and 3cm dialated). I had been scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks anyways due to blood pressure concerns. At 2 PM they induced me via pitocin and an hour later broke my water. Contractions were strong and I wanted to go without an epidural. After laboring with no pain management for 6 hours I asked for IV pain meds to help take the edge off and give me enough strength to be able to push. I was 7 cm dialated and the dr okayed the meds and the nurse came back to give them. I was told they would make a bit loopy for the first few minutes. After receiving the pain meds I went from 7cm dialated to 10cm in 3 minutes and was very out of it. I spent the next 15 minutes in and out of consciousness trying to stay awake long enough to push. Finally I was able to stay awake long enough to get her out. It took me a few hours to stop feeling sleepy and loopy. My poor husband is completely traumatized now but we are do grateful to have a happy healthy baby and I am recovering well!
All in all this was not the delivery experience we had planned but we are so grateful to have our baby girl here in our arms safe.

Margot Lillian, born at 39 weeks 1/11/19 via repeat c-section. 8 lbs 7 oz, 21 inches.
They did an ultrasound. Baby was estimated to be 10 pounds.
So the doctor spoke to us saying we can either do a c section that night or vaginally. They warned me about shoulder dystocia due to size.
I decided vaginally. I was scheduled at induction for 41 weeks and 1 day due to the size. Well they started me on pitocin at 10. I got the epidural soon after the pitocin. I was still dilated at a 1cm.
At around 1230 ish, the doctor broke my water and inserted foley catheter. Things started to progress slowly so I wore a peanut ball.
At around midnight the next morning things started to progress. I went to 8 cm. Then i felt the urge to poop so bad.
I was a 10, it was time to push. The only thing that helped was to try and poop.
Anyways hr and half later my son was born.
